Chapter 6 - Behind Closed Doors

Episode 6

After the aftermath of whatever happened in the armory between Edgar and Melanie, and her knight guards.

Edgar was sitting in his room, all alone and scared for the damage that he caused, he was trembling so much; pacing up and down, biting his nails. Not being himself.

The door was shut so no one could peak even if they wanted too, he was in a bad state not hurt, injured or anything that seemed like he got was beaten into a pulp, he was alright and back to normal.

His clothes though were so dirty the white colour that they had, changed somehow caused by the stains that were on his clothes.

Something really bothered Edgar he knew exactly what it was but he just didn't want to confront it himself, so he chose not to think about it.

His room was massive for a ten-year-old boy to stay there by himself, unlike the armory. His room was way different it did have the same features that each room of this castle had and that was; the thick high walls.

Something separated his room from the rest of the others, his bedroom had a big king sized bed, a multi-colored window that was high enough and as big as the window itself. On the floor there was a mat and it wasn't a normal mat or even hides.

The way it was so different to the point that in the first world it didn't exist, Edgar's mat covered his whole bed size. It was furry black, it's fur not the normal black colour; it was some sort of shiny like a dog's fur with a size of a bear.

From afar it did seem like it was a bear hide, but it wasn't it was something of the unknown, a mythical beast; it's head did look like a bear also a wolf's head, it's teeth were shark teeth; jaggered, roughy, and gray.

There was something off giving about it's eyes they didn't seem animal or human they were just eyes combined with both human and animal. They were wide opened so was it's creepy spine chilling smile.

The walls were thick grey stone walls not painted just untouched, it's ceiling was so high up and stretched it was impossible for anyone to reach let alone jump if they ever wanted to.

Fully furnished with a book shelf that wasn't that big if closely looked, but it had like maybe a couple of hundred books on there; on his counter there was a book opened showing that someone recently just read it.

Wrapped and torn papers were all around the counter it's chair pushed far from the table, it was really that obvious to see that all of this was done by Edgar himself, reason being no one knew.

Whatever was on Edgar's mind he tried so hard to ignore it, pacing up and down wasn't really being useful or working like he had hoped it would. Against everything his eyes were locked on the door as if he was waiting for someone to walk in.

On the other side of the door, the space that a door usually has that shows the shadows of people moving on the other side. It was like that for Edgar.

He saw multiple shadows passing by through his door, some muttered, others walking slowly, working because of the trays that would make a noise when passing by.

Edgar was getting impatient he had already bitten almost all of his finger nails now he was just buying time, he was uneasy and restless like a junkie craving for it's next fix.

There was a mirror facing him by his study table, it was black like it was tainted but Edgar's reflection was visible as the clear skies.

It was enchanted because instead of reflecting everything that Edgar was doing; pacing, eating his fingernails, staring at the door and waiting anxiously.

His reflection from his mirror faced to his direction and just looks at him, it doesn't say anything, it doesn't move or do anything to indicate that it's onto him. It just stares quietly.

Instead of being dressed in dirty and battered white clothes, the reflection actually wore dirty and battered black clothes.

Everything about it was the opposite from Edgar's; snowy-white hair, his was black, from his crystal clear water eyes, his were turbid. Just completely different.

"You know I can feel you staring." Edgar notified the mirror.

"Well, well, well... Who knew that right after what you did, your sight will still be sharp as ever." It's voice was low, whispery and menacing.

"Who are you and what do you want from me?" Edgar's eyes still locked on the door.

"Is that to talk to your real self, your true self?" The mirror asked.

"Look I don't know what the hell are you on about because last time I checked I was standing right here, where I'm standing. So I'm the real self, my true self... And you are nothing but just my reflection." Edgar not planning to entertain his other self.

"Ooooh, feisty. I like you but do you really think that was you who did what you did to little poor ol' servant Melanie?" Reflection Edgar asked.

"You're asking the obvious question, are you stupid or what? Is being trapped in that place messing up with your brain cells?" Edgar insulted.

Reflection Edgar chuckles, "my, my you're a little grumpy for a ten-year-old who just hurt his favourite servant."

Edgar signs, coming into terms with the fact that this mirror won't stop until he entertains it.

"Okay then, what do you want?" Edgar faces the mirror.

Reflection Edgar grins, "Oh nothing much I just want to be your friend after all I am the real you of this world."

Edgar wasn't really paying any attention to what his reflection was saying to him, he muted him making himself not hear what his reflection said.

Reflection Edgar was really smart, truly smart and unlike Edgar who chose to play dumb. Reflection Edgar knew what Edgar did so he also played his own trick.

Though Edgar didn't hear what his reflection self was sayin' there were words he was able to pick up in the air.

'I am the real you of this world'

"What did you say?" Edgar caught off guard.

"Oh, now you can hear me? I thought you cast a spell on me, that prevented you from hearing me." Reflection Edgar shared his secret.

"How did you know? Who the hell are you?" Edgar starting to feel uneasy.

Reflection Edgar smiles sinister, "Good, that right now you feel; your heart racing, your palm sweating that's who I am."

"So what you are fear?" Edgar trying to dry his wet hands.

"That's one name you can call me amongst the many." Reflection Edgar enjoying this conversation.

"So what do you want from me?" Edgar persistent.

Reflection Edgar just disappeared from the mirror then another reflection which was more like sneak peek at something that should have remained private.

When the reflection changed it was like a memory being washed away when Reflection Edgar disappeared and the other one came.

What the mirror actually showed Edgar was something he definitely wasn't supposed to see or know, he saw his mother Ursula with Melanie who's eyes were covered in bandage and blood stains of her eyes, and also with Leviticus.

These three were in the Great hall all sitting in a big table each one or two to three chairs apart, they were serious the room gave this ominous and serious atmosphere.

It seemed like they weren't aware that someone was spying on them, because they continued with what they were discussing and not paying attention to anything else.

"So are you going to tell us the truth on what really happened?" Ursula asked.

From where Edgar was standing and from his point of view it looked like his mother was talking to Melanie.

"I'm sorry I can't tell you what really happened today because I wasn't there, but heed my words something dangerous is coming." Someone answered and it was clearly not Melanie because she never moved her lips.

"So I'm supposed to take your word for it without knowing the full story?" Ursula looking for an explanation.

Whoever this person was he or she wasn't in the visible, but their voice did sound so familiar to Edgar. It was like it's from an old lady, correction three old ladies all speaking in echoes.

Another thing that gave away this person's present was the loud 'Badum' sound that gave Edgar another clue this person had a walking stick.

"So what do you suggest that we must do?" Ursula's eyes fixated on this person who seemed like he or she was getting closer.

"Go fech the boy!" The person ordered.

Ursula just looked at Leviticus who knew exactly what needed to be done, stood up and exited the meeting.

Not knowing what was going on Edgar's reflection returned.

Reflection Edgar came out of the mirror, it's pieces shattered into a million pieces like frozen water before turning into ice.
