Chapter 1 - SAME TASK, SAME PLACE

{HELL REALM}

*

"Your soul count is 500 people and your deadline is 1st of January, 2025. Failure to complete the task will bring you great punishment." The head commander of demons announced and the ten demons who were given this grand task responded in understanding.

"You are not to get distracted or go off course but if you do get distracted make sure it's for a good cause."

"Yes master," they responded in unison.

"Do NOT by any means get sidetracked by these humans. Don't underestimate them!" He warned.

"Yes master," they responded.

"And lastly, don't fall for any human, rather, let them fall for you. Falling in love with them is a big sin to Lucifer morningstar and he won't spare you." He warned and they responded.

"Lucius!" he called the first demon.

"Yes master!"

"You'll be sent to Maryland."

Immediately the demon was posted to a location, he vanished.

"Red!"

"Yes master!"

"You'll be sent to New Town."

And the second demon vanished as well.

"Kervin!" He called the third demon.

"Yes master!"

"You'll be sent to Rose Vale."

{HEAVEN REALM}

*

"Your soul count should be nothing less than 500 people and your deadline is 31st of January, 2025. Ensure not to fail or heaven will suffer a major loss and you'll be at fault." The head commander of angels announced and the ten angels responded dutifully.

The commander continued,

"You are not to get distracted for whatever reason."

"You are not to be involved with any human."

"You are NOT to have any relation with any human."

"If you dare fall in love with any human, remember what happened to the other angels. That should teach you a lesson."

"Yes commander," they responded.

"Genesis!" the commander called the first angel.

"Yes commander!"

"Your post is Zealand."

And after he was posted, he vanished.

"Malachi!"

"Yes commander!"

"Your post is NetherTown."

And like the previous one, he too vanished.

"Psalm!" he called the third angel.

"Yes commander!"

"Your post is Rose Vale."

~{ROSE VALE}~

~{JANUARY 1st, 2021}~

The moment Psalm opened his eyes, he quickly sat upright and scanned his surroundings.

He was trapped in a human's body. Although, in his own case, the body was specially made for him. Once he successfully finishes his task, the body will turn to dust while his spirit will return to heaven as planned.

Getting up, he went to the restroom to look at his figure and frowned while touching his face.

His real form as an angel was ten times better than this but to mortals, they would find it frightening. This body was just ordinary and lame.

Looking at his hands, he sighed.

"Focus! Let's focus on the task at hand," he reminded himself and frowned when he heard the sound of his voice.

It was less forceful and more calm.

Without thinking too much about it, he went back to the room and looked for something to wear. The first thing he picked from the closet was what he wore.

When he stepped out of the house, he noticed it was a small apartment but well built and comfortable. It was many miles away from other houses.

'I HATE EVERYTHING! I RATHER GO TO HELL!'

Psalm's senses quickly picked someone who was giving up on life due to challenges and quickly went in that direction.

However, when he began to walk, he realized it would take him time and he couldn't use his powers unless it was necessary or the situation was grave.

"This is serious," he said to himself and quickly teleported to a nearby area before walking his way to the house he sensed the cry of help from.

When he climbed the porch, he froze when he sensed another presence who must've gotten there before him.

Instead of walking, he quickly teleported himself inside just to find a demon seated with her.

On noticing his presence, the demon looked in his direction and smiled evilly.

Psalm stood there looking devastated when he found the person already dead, meaning she took her own life because there was a knife in her hand and her eyes were wide open as she stared into space while seated on a chair.

"You came too late angel," the demon casually said and got up from the chair he was sitting on.

"Did I? Or you just got lucky," Psalm retorted and the demon scoffed before walking up to him.

"Just accept defeat and don't put the blame on luck. It's all about hard work and I won it fair and square," the demon said but instead of exchanging words with him, Psalm turned to leave.

"Are you the only angel in Rose Vale? If you are then be prepared to lose a lot of souls," the demon confidently said and chuckled.

"Let the battle begin," Psalm declared and vanished out of there.

"What a pitiful angel. Does he think he can win against me?" the demon said to himself and walked back to the body.

This demon was none other than Kervin, the third demon who was sent to Rose Vale.

"If only they sent me into a female's body rather than a male, it would've been a lot easier." Kervin said while unashamedly scanning the woman's appearance and figure.

'GOD WHERE ARE YOU? I NEED YOU! ARE YOU LISTENING AT ALL?'

At that cry of distress, Kervin smiled and hurriedly teleported himself to the location only to find the angel he met earlier talking to the person. It was a little boy of about ten years old.

"God is listening, boy and he sent me to you," he heard the angel say.

"Really?" The little boy asked and wiped his tears away.

"Yes," the angel responded.

"Screw that! God is a fraud!" Kervin tried to dissuade the boy from listening to the angel.

"Don't listen to him. The devil sent him and he's trying to pull you to hell," the angel warned and the little boy frowned while looking back and forth between the angel and demon.

"Your father is in hell, boy. God let him die, isn't that true angel?" Kervin asked and it irritated Psalm.

"Don't listen to him. Tell him to get behind you," Psalm instructed and the boy did as he was told even though he didn't understand why.

"Get behind me!" He said in his little voice and it angered Kervin.

"Come with me, let me take you to a safe place," Psalm said and the boy agreed.

"Do you think you can have him, angel? Mind you, we aren't spirits to move around freely but trapped in mortal bodies. One way or another you'll leave him and I'll seize that opportunity." Kervin calmly warned.
