"Aunt Haze, have you ever thought of going to hell?" A five year old boy asked her.
"Yes," Hazel answered with a frown on her forehead.
"Would you like to go to hell?" he further asked innocently.
"No," she answered.
"Why?"
"Because it's not a good place."
"But being in an orphanage home is not a good place either, so what makes it not a good place to go?" he asked confusedly.
For a moment, she was taken aback by his unforeseen question. She couldn't even find a suitable answer to that because she didn't know how to phrase it to his understanding.
"The orphanage home is a good place, Solomon, but hell is…. It's a terrible place."
"Have you been there before?" He became intrigued.
"No," she truthfully answered.
"Then how do you know it's a bad place?"
"Because the Bible tells me so," she smartly replied.
"How did the writer of the bible know that hell is not a good place?" Solomon asked with a deep mar at his forehead.
"Because the holy spirit showed it to him."
"Oh," the little boy said and became thoughtful again.
"That's a good question," someone suddenly said behind Hazel, causing her to nearly jump in fright.
Holding her chest, she laughed when she saw who it was. It was an elderly man who had volunteered to help in the orphanage home. His name was Obed.
"You frightened me!" Hazel said breathlessly.
"I'm sorry," he chuckled and went to sit beside her.
Watching him, she smiled and he returned it before saying something.
"The man with those black pair of spectacles is here again," he informed her.
"He is?" Hazel blinked and instantly got on her feet in readiness to see him.
"I find it weird how he frequents this place." Obed said and she smiled nervously.
"Maybe he wants to adopt a child,"she guessed and the elderly man scoffed.
"Adopt? From the looks of it, it seems like he's ready to adopt you instead." He boldly said and Hazel began to blush, causing her freckles to stand out.
"That's not true," she denied but hurriedly went to catch a glimpse of him.
However, on her way to the visitor's room, she arranged her hair before stepping into the room to find him playing with the children.
"Mr Kervin?" She called and he looked up at her from where he was.
For a moment, she felt as if her heart would melt with the way he looked at her. His curly dark brown hair fell against his forehead and his glasses fit perfectly with his face.
He was too good looking.
Currently, he was wearing a deep blue sweater on black pants. It was very simple but eye catching, especially the way the sweater held his perfect body.
"Miss Hazel," he got up with a bright smile on his face as he carefully dropped the boy he was carrying on the ground.
Approaching him, she smiled brightly and nervously fiddled with her fingers.
"Are you here to adopt a child?" she politely asked while trying so hard to stop smiling but couldn't.
"I could but I don't have a wife," he straightforwardly said and Hazel gave an 'O' sign with her lips but deep down, she was relieved to hear that.
"Would you like to go out with me sometime?"
At that sudden question, Hazel's eyes widened in surprise because it was totally unexpected.
"On a date?"
"Yes," he said and grinned charmingly.
"Ehm…" she bit her lower lip as if in thoughtfulness before nodding in agreement.
"Will Tuesday work for you?" He thoughtfully asked.
"No, I have plans."
"Plans?" He arched an eyebrow in curiosity.
"I have to go shopping with the other Aunties for the kids," she clarified and he nodded in understanding…
"Aunt Haze!"
"Aunt Haze!!"
When she looked down at the children, she noticed they weren't the ones calling her. Confused, she looked around and that was when she was suddenly enveloped in darkness until a bright light pulled her out.
"Aunt Haze! Aunt Haze!! Aunt Haze!!!"
When she opened her eyes and looked around, it was then she realized she had been dreaming again.
Three little girls had ganged up around her as they pulled her dress and she sluggishly sat upright in disappointment.
This was the second time she was dreaming about the same man with glasses and funny enough, her dream even gave him a name; Kervin.
"There's a man at the visitor's room!" They eagerly announced and she blinked at them in confusion.
"A man?"
"Yes. I think he wants to adopt!" One of them exclaimed and joy filled Hazel's chest at the news.
Getting up, she ran with them to the visitor's room only to stop halfway when she found the very man she just dreamt about standing with one of the aunties who was saying something to him.
"Oh my goodness!"
She couldn't believe her eyes.
He was here! How?
"That's him!" One of the girls exclaimed and ran to meet him in excitement. And due to that, he glanced in her direction and his eyes widened slightly.
She quickly fixed her expression and walked up to him. This time she didn't feel all giddy like in the dream but surprised.
"Oh, here is Hazel, one of the aunties. She will discuss with you while I go take care of those crying children," saying that the lady named Rachel left them.
The children who were around him couldn't stop jumping in excitement because they believed one of them would be adopted.
"Are you here to adopt a child Mr…" she trailed and he dutifully completed it.
"Kervin."
Her jaw would have dropped open at that revelation but she held it in place.
Not long she had dreamt of him telling her his name was Kervin and here he was, saying the same thing. How strange.
"I'm here to have a word with you," he said instead in all seriousness.
