When Psalm got to where Hazel was, her eyes twinkled in delight as she gingerly made way for him.
"I thought you wouldn't show up," she eagerly said and he smiled while casually turning to see as the demon walked away.
"What does he want?"
"He just came to check up on me," she truthfully said.
"Do you know him?"
Psalm asked because it was strange. Never had the demon stepped inside the orphanage home until today.
"Not at all, this is the first time I'm meeting him," she answered and closed the door behind him.
"You should stay away from him," Psalm warned and it brought a frown to Hazel's face.
"Why? He's a nice person."
"Well, most people are not what they seem," he answered.
"Uncle Psalm is here!" A kid screamed in delight, alarming the others and before Psalm could breathe, they had overwhelmed him with hugs.
Hazel smiled while unknowingly admiring him. He always dressed casual but it had a certain uniqueness she found attractive.
When he looked at her, she quickly looked away and absentmindedly strolled to the corner where she sat with the strange man not long ago.
When she casually looked at the window, her eyes widened slightly when she found him standing right across the road while unashamedly staring at her.
However, when he realized she caught him, he turned and walked away.
Confused, Hazel kept watching him until he was out of sight.
"Now that's creepy."
At that saying, she jumped in fright and turned to find Psalm standing right behind her while staring out the window.
"Whe…when did you?"
"Sorry I didn't alert you," he apologized.
"No, it's alright…"
"What's his name?" Psalm inquired.
"Kervin," she answered.
"Kervin," he repeated and moved away as he kept calling the name like he was savoring it.
"Do you know him?" She curiously asked.
"Not really, I just happened to come across him on some special occasions," occasions she couldn't know of.
"He seems…. Strange," she said and Psalm hummed in agreement.
"Strange doesn't cover it. Just stay away from him. If your paths cross next time, take the other way," he advised and she hesitated to respond but gave a nod.
"Uncle Psalm!" One of the children called out and he went to meet them, leaving Hazel to herself.
After giving it some thought, she went inside to look for the old man who was currently counseling the elderly kids.
On noticing her, he briefed them before letting them off so he could speak with her.
"Mr Obed."
"Yes, Haze?"
"I had a weird dream twice today," she confessed.
"And what are they about?" He became intrigued.
"They are about this strange man named Kervin which I don't know. In this dream I have feelings for him and was eager to meet him but guess what?"
At her question, the old man leaned closer.
"He came today right after the second dream and just as my dream told me his name is Kervin, so it is in reality," she filled him in on everything.
"It's simple. God could be telling you something or he's showing you what'll happen in the latter future." Obed smartly interpreted.
"I'll fall for him?" She asked in disbelief.
"Maybe, maybe not. Dreams can be changed and you can choose to make it come true or not, you have that power. However, in your case it's strange that right after that dream, he came in today."
He became thoughtful after saying that.
"But mind you, not every dream is from God. The dream world is another realm entirely and our spirit goes there to meet other spirits, meaning demons and so on," he clarified.
"Oh God, then what's the meaning of this? Is he perhaps a bad omen?" She worriedly asked.
"I can't say. You'll have to find out for yourself."
"Psalm told me not to meet him ever again." She informed him.
"Well, maybe God is speaking through him. Nothing is ever clear, Hazel." He said and smiled.
"But what if God is telling me he's the one I'll marry," she assumed.
"But weren't you the one who vowed not to ever marry?" Obed arched a brow at her.
"I'm just saying, it's not like I'm going to do that."
"So you're going to disobey God," Obed concluded and it left Hazel speechless for a while.
"That's not it, Obed."
"Hazel. I know you don't like the idea of getting married but you're not a nun to refuse it. One way or another, temptations will come just like the one we have here in the orphanage home."
At Obed's clear words, Hazel blinked as her cheeks turned bright red.
"If this man you dreamt about is the one you'll marry then go ahead…. But pray about it."
At that smart advice, Hazel nodded and got ready to leave.
"Haze."
"Yes?" She faced the old man.
"Be very careful. Dreams can be very tricky," he warned and she nodded in understanding before stepping out of the room. When she went back to the visitor's room to peek at Psalm, she found him telling them a story to which they paid great attention to.
But something weird happened. He suddenly paused and stared into the distance for a long time before getting up and apologizing to the kids and making his way to the door.
"Mr Psalm!" She quickly called out to him because this wasn't the first time she saw that happen to him.
Was it some sort of disorder? She had asked him but he said it's complicated.
"I'll be back," he said and ran off with her watching him and the children looking dumbfounded.
"Why does he do that when he gets to the best part of the story?" A little girl asked Hazel but she had no answer for that.
When Psalm had gotten to a secluded part, he quickly teleported himself to the location he got the cry of distress and on getting there, he found the demon there as well.
Sitting all curled up to the wall was a teenager who was bruised by his abusive father. He was shivering and wanted to take his life in order to stop the suffering.
"Just take your life and rest, boy. There's no good in living," the demon advised and it pissed the angel off.
Thankfully, the boy was still contemplating whether to do it or not.
"If you kill yourself, you'll regret for the whole of eternity," Psalm calmly said, causing the boy to look at him in fright.
"Don't listen to him. He's a liar. They make hell look like a terrible place but believe me when I say it's glorious," Kervin tried to convince him.
