Chapter Two: Birth of the Ice Dragon
Thanks to perseverance, I began absorbing external energy and continuously transferring part of it to my sister, who kept absorbing all the energy I sent her.
Two years passed.
I don't know exactly how much time has passed, but I'm about to be born soon. During this time, my progress hasn't stopped, not only in terms of growth but also in learning about the world around me and myself. The first thing I'd like to say is that I'm probably not human, because I already feel a great deal of success with my four limbs, and at the same time, I'm able to use very large claws.
I'm probably in an egg, because it's unlikely that my new mother's womb is strong enough to not bend even slightly under my claws, let's assume. Yes, to my great surprise, I'm in an egg with claws, and I'm fully covered in scales…
On my back, I feel two other limbs I can't even control, not to mention the tail, which has a life of its own and moves independently.
Well, the internal energy is probably dragon energy, because I don't believe that there are only three individuals—my sister, our mother, and me. This excludes at least half of the known worlds I can access.
As for how I discovered that our mother was nearby, this happened some time ago. I sent spiritual energy to my sister, as I decided to connect with her, and suddenly I thought about what would happen if I sent it in other directions, because there is something called spiritual instinct. At first, nothing came out, and my energy simply dissipated. Then I started guiding it with small threads and immediately pulling it back.
In just a few days, perhaps, I managed to "see" 15 meters around my egg, which I was able to confirm, and I noticed a part of our supposed mother's body, because it wasn't hard to spot a massive claw larger than 5 meters, and even a bright spirit flame many times larger than my current one.
After that, I stopped developing my spiritual instinct because I didn't want to disturb our mother.
The development of my spirit flame doesn't stop. If its size was a few meters earlier, it will now shrink to 6 meters in diameter.
My sister's development is also in full swing. Although my sister's size will be about half of mine, her appearance is more harmonious and peaceful. While I am covered in large scales, which form a sort of armor around my body, and if I hadn't touched her a little dozens of times, I would think that I'm mostly made of ice, whereas my sister is covered in small white scales.
In a deep cave, where there was no sound for two and a half years, except for the howling of the wind, a cracking sound was heard.
The dragon, who had been guarding the clutch, opened its eyes, sensing that the time for hatching was near.
Recently, it had felt the movements in the nest, and although it couldn't understand what was happening, it sensed that the small, weak white egg, which had once seemed close to death, was now full of life and no longer on the brink of dying.
This was very good news for the newly made mother, as the process of raising dragons was very slow, and this was her first clutch in 90,000 years.
Meanwhile, the large egg continued to crack, and its occupant eagerly tried to break free from it. Just a few minutes later, the egg, which had seemed solid at first, was now completely covered in cracks.
Hero's Perspective:
Finally, my body began to respond better, and although my wings still didn't obey me, they no longer trembled on their own when I tried to move the other limbs, except for the tail.
It seems I had already fully formed, with almost no nourishing material left in the egg.
I began to try to break the shell, striking the same spot repeatedly.
After a few minutes, the egg was filled with cracks that allowed me to see through them…
But I didn't see anything clearly, either because it was night or because we were in a cave. My final strike shattered the shell, and I immediately emerged.
As I had thought, we found ourselves in a cave, and the only light came from a wide opening, likely leading to the surface.
I cried out as I emerged from the egg, shouting the name "Icefierd Dracon."
As I started looking around, I immediately noticed my sister's egg, which had already fully formed. It seemed likely that it would hatch soon.
When I turned to the other side, I stumbled upon a massive ice dragon. Its appearance was breathtaking. It stood over 20 meters tall, with large scales, wide wings, and a long tail. It looked incredibly impressive.
Well, my mother in this new life is an amazing woman, ah… a dragon.
As I examined her, she was also looking at me.
Under her joyful gaze, I began to limp, as I couldn't walk properly.
I stumbled with every step, but after a few steps, my wings started moving on their own. Suddenly, she pushed me back toward the broken shell.
My mother approached me with her head and picked up a small piece of the shell with her tongue, swallowing it. Her gaze fixed on me.
I understood what they wanted from me and recalled the stories I had read, where newly hatched dragons eat their egg shells.
I took a small piece of the shell with my claws, examined it carefully, then licked it.
Fortunately, my jaws reacted well to it, and after a few seconds, I swallowed it, but it tasted like ice.
As I continued eating the rest of the shell, I noticed my mother had moved to the other side of the cave. Once I finished eating, I began peeling the remaining shell.
Half an hour later:
While I was finishing the last of my egg, I saw my mother returning with a creature's carcass I didn't recognize. She approached me and dropped the carcass, which was larger than my body, and began to eat it.
I decided not to interfere and began inspecting my new body.
Well, my body looks like a small ice sculpture. Even my wings appear icy, with large ice plates covering all my joints. The rest of my body is covered with smaller scales, but they are strong.
Although I can't fully see my head, my spiritual instincts help me. Overall, the appearance looks good.
Four large horns at the back of my head turn into bumps on my neck, with a large horn on my forehead, small fangs, and bright blue eyes that complete the look.
After accepting my appearance, I decided to start trying to control my wings and tail.
I began my training that lasted for ten days, during which I managed to run around the cave and test my claws. However, there was something frustrating.
I found myself leaving scratches on the cave walls instead of crushing rocks.
Although I can't move things much right now, I was newly born, and I will grow over time. I began mastering the movement of my wings and stopping my tail from shaking involuntarily.
This made me very happy because when you're a small dragon, having your tail shake is very frustrating.
I also tried the famous dragon breath, of course, not expecting flames to come out, but the cold breath I got on the third day was fitting.
Well, it was a small success, but considering that dragons live for thousands of years in most worlds, if not eternally, I still have everything ahead of me.
