A bunch of robotic notifications woke Ethan up from his eternal slumber. His eyes were hazy; he could not see for a while, and strange thoughts came into his being. "What's going on? Shouldn't I be dead?" An even more concerning fact surfaced in his mind, "Huh! Why should I be dead? What's going on?"
He could not remember the reasons for his suicidal thoughts, an indication of his already sealed memories, but his mind automatically filled in the blanks—a wondrous effect of the human mind to protect itself. The last thing he could remember was that a week had passed since his mother's death. He was extremely devastated by her death, and his entire being was as dead as a hollow soul. Understandably, he was indeed having suicidal thoughts because of that.
But he still felt something else missing—an utter emptiness swept through his being again. He truly felt so desolate. Right at that moment, the robotic voice sounded again.

Ethan was shocked at all this information. It seems he was transmigrated, and the owner of the body was someone named "Valtar."
This information was engraved in his mind by this enigmatic system. There were many questions in his mind, but before he could voice out any of them, his eyes became clear, and what he saw made his scalp go numb as an impending sense of doom washed over him.
Around him, for a long, long distance, everywhere were nothing but dead bodies lying on the ground—hundreds, no, thousands of dead bodies, if not more. He could smell the disgusting and pungent smell invading his nostrils mixed with a heavy scent of blood that almost made him vomit, not to mention his own body was also covered in blood, almost head to toe.
"Grrrrrrrr... RAAAAAWWWWR!"
Seemingly out of nowhere, a heaven-shaking roar resounded throughout the skies. A declaration of boundless rage and wrath of a mighty being that would be sung for a long time.
Valtar immediately looked in that direction, and what he saw this time was something that truly made him question his sanity.
A Titan that stood so tall, almost about to reach the clouds, its ginormous body telling a history of countless ages. Its posture was that of a supreme being, each of this being's minute movements a gesture of power so great that a simple attack of this being may turn an entire city area into a wasteland.
Yet, this all-powerful creature was at a slight disadvantage because fighting it were two beings as powerful as itself. First was a dragon so large that it almost covered a part of the skies, spewing fire so potent that it would put even the greatest and most dangerous volcano back on Earth to shame. Second was a human-like figure who was holding a trident, though his presence was not as noticeable and overwhelming as the other two mythical beings, he was also almost as powerful as the other two with his diverse and strong mystical abilities.
Despite facing off against two beings as powerful as itself, it didn't seem to be too worried. The defense of the Titan was unmatched throughout this world, and the heaven-shaking roar was that of the dragon letting out its frustration at being unable to hurt the Titan with its all-powerful flames that could burn down almost anything.
The Titan was not all about defense. Considering its huge and all-powerful body with the greatest defense of this world, it should have had the obvious flaw of being slow and leaving openings to many attacks, yet it was not slow at all. Its boundless might caused earthquakes all around, and it almost injured both opposing parties many times.
Amid that battle, the Titan said to its two opposing parties in utter ridicule and mocking tone, "Is that it? Is that all a Dragon 1 minor stage above and a Human Mystic 2 minor stage above this mighty one can accomplish despite working together? What an utter disappointment."
The dragon let out another furious roar hearing the insult of its arch-enemy and spewed dragon fire, responding in anger, "You dare insult this young lord, you oversized cretin!"
The man holding the trident also responded in slight anger, "Marius, don't let him anger you. He's just playing tricks."
The titanic being sneered in response, "If this is all a young lord of the dragon tribe amounts to, then all I see is an overgrown lizard and a cockroach jumping around alongside it."
As Valtar was almost mesmerized by this battle of world-shaking magnitude, the system reminded him.
[Host is recommended to run away immediately in the opposite direction of the battle]
[Otherwise, there is a 90% probability of instant death]
Valtar immediately awoke from his stupor and realized that was indeed the case. Though those beings were fighting quite far away from him, despite such a great distance, shockwaves and powerful tremors were affecting the place where Valtar was standing.
First, he carefully scanned his surroundings to make sure there was indeed no one apart from him alive and immediately made a run towards the opposite direction of the battle with all his might. His legs were as weak as cooked noodles; he was barely able to run for five minutes, then exhaustion started to overtake him. He suddenly stumbled and fell. He got up quickly to take a look at what he stumbled upon, and it was a human-like figure but with some dragon-like features. There were also human dead bodies with clothes with strange patterns on them.
Unfortunately, he couldn't think about those too much and again made a run. Finally, after forty minutes of running with some stops in the middle, he seemed to be outside of the battlefield and entered into a forest.
[Warning! Warning! Host bodily functions are starting to fail. Must consume water within one minute, or host will die] The system sounded again with a warning as if declaring his unavoidable death.
Valtar felt his entire body convulse in pain. His throat was as dry as wood. He was on an adrenaline rush until now, so his body was forced to keep going on as he was probably already on the brink of death before being awakened—no, scratch that, the one inhabiting this body was already dead, if not, how could he have awakened in this body?
He thought in his mind, "It was probably the damn system that kept this dead body functioning." Then he frantically looked around for a source of water, and to his joy, he probably found one. There was a tall tree slightly ahead of him, twenty to twenty-two meters approximately, and in the tree's body, there was a small carving that exposed its insides, and there was indeed a small flow of water coming out of it.
He again tried to run with all his might, but to his horror, he could barely walk. But his mind was as hollow as a ghost. His memories may have been sealed, but the feelings of emptiness were still present. He didn't give a damn about the pain. For seemingly no reason, an unwavering will to desire to survive and see the vastness of this new world arose within him.
He asked the system at this moment in his mind without saying it aloud, "Hey, system? If I grow strong enough in this world, can I go back?"
The system responded in its usual robotic voice without any change,
[Only if you become the strongest, there may be a possibility]
Valtar did not expect any response, to be honest, yet the system's tone of certainty finally made his expression change for the first time since being reborn. A slight smile blossomed on his dead and dry lips.
All this time, Valtar naturally did not stop, despite his physical body reaching its limit long ago. While he was unable to run, he kept walking and walking, and then he started crawling with his hands because his legs were not working anymore.
And when he finally reached that tree and stood up barely to drink the water, the unexpected answer to his question was stated by the system. He immediately started greedily drinking the water. He could swear it felt like it was the best he ever drank in his entire life, like a thousand-year desert being blessed with enormous rain. Every single cell of Valtar's body absorbed the water. His dead body felt like it was coming alive.
After drinking as much water as he could, he could not keep his eyes open. He simply slumped to the ground right there and fell asleep.
