Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 | Smart But Failing Tactics

While only five tunnels had been started, Skuggir could not wait for the tunnels to finish as that would take far to long. Skuggir needed to improve his Dungeon, his home, with 'haste and efficiency.'

skuggir was running around his Dungeon and checking to make sure everything was right, skeletons in the right places and archers at the ready.

after a complete check, Skuggir opened the door of his dungeon again, but this time instead of limiting entry based off the strength of a average human, he limited it to only E-ranks and bellow and nobody younger the sixteen. he didn't want children to die in here because they where fools!

after a few minutes the first group entered the Dungeon, this time they came prepared with cloys and maces witch would work better against skeletons, the group had five F-ranked adventurers and no E-ranks. With their weapons at the ready the group pushed forwards.

they steadily and with caution moved through the first room, its tall pillars looming over them and casting shadows of fear, a possible ambush at any moment. but as they moved through the room nothing jumped at them except their heart, their hearts where pounding so hard they could hear each others pulse.

approaching the threshold that which lead to the next room, the party of adventurers peeked inside, trying to discern any traps within. all they could see where six skeletons awaiting their entry.

entering as a group the party of five bravely faced the skeletons head-on, as the knew their maces gave them the advantage, with their charge, the skeleton archers that flanked eh room notched a arrow on their bows and drew back, before letting lose. half the party was gone in an instant as their two members that made up the edge of the charge where shot through the head with an arrow each!

immediately turning back the group ran for their lives, but not before loosing another member. with only the two left the remaining party member escaped the dungeon alive. the corpses of their teammates devoured by the dungeon as they sunk into the floor.

it only took an hour before another group entered, but they where different, this group had a mage with them. their team was composed of one mage, one shield-bearer, and three melee fighters holding maces. they knew the first room was supposedly safe, moving past it in record time. their real worries only started upon entering the second room.

their mage was vulnerable to the archers so the shield-bearer protected them, while the mage casted shield around the mace-men. while casting the spell, a arrow flew through the air, the shield-bearer intercepting it with speed that did not align with the large shield he carried.

sadly for the group the arrow came from all sides and the next volley contained four arrow all aimed at the mage from different angles! whit his life in danger the mage tried to quickly chant a spell that would generate a small upward gust around him, but his casting speed fell short and he died looking like a pincushion full of three arrows.

with their mage dead the group did not panic and instead slowly retreated with the shield-bearer now standing to their side blocking half the arrow that would hit them. sadly their slow retreat would no help, as with the shield-bearers attention turned to one side a arrow flew over the heads of the three mace-men and landed in the lower neck of the shield-bearer missing the skeletons target of his head, but paralyzing him non the less. with the shield bearer gone, and the group now panicking, the skeleton swordsmen saw their chance and quickly decapitated the three in one fell swoop.

[Holy points 20/20] (excess turned to gold)

[Corpse of E-rank 1/1]

[Core room 1/1]

[Entrance room 1/1]

after watching the battle unfold from next the the skeleton archers, which he had been telling who to target, Skuggir's boney complexion did not change, but he was smiling mentally. His dungeon was about to level up

[Dungeon leveled up]

[Minions can now evolve]

[Dungeon master can now evolve]

[New options in the shop]

[New menu features]

Investigating the new features immediately, Skuggir noticed the [Map] Tab which now showed how own minion and had turned 3D instead of the original 2D. It also had a move function now! This meant he could probably move his dungeon rooms around after he finished making them.

not being able to hold out any longer, Skuggir went to his [Home] tab and checked how he could evolve! checking out his menu Skuggir noticed a [Evolve] button, 'it can't be this simple... right?'. And not that simple it was, after pressing the button a list of options and their requirements was appeared.

[Lich - no requirements]

[Sun Lich - absorb a treasure of the sun]

[Holy Lich - absorb 0/100% holy power]

[Moon Lich - absorb a treasure of the moon]

[Lich of famine - no requirements]

[Lich of plague - let a disease fester in your bones]

[Eclipse Lich - absorb a astral treasure]

[Poison Lich - bath in poison]

[Frost Lich - use ice magic]

[Omni Lich - fulfill all requirements]

with so many options, Skuggir had to pick one, but with was the best option! the basic lich while a direct upgrades not that apealing, especially with so many other better options. The Sun Lich, seemed decent being able to harness the power of the sun, but would that be practical in this cave?

another option the Moon Lich had the same problem as he had no access to the moon! even though these two seemed impressive they had some of the hardest requirements only behind the Eclipse Lich and the Omni Lich. Eclipse lcic seemed to be a combinateion of the former two and Omni Lich seemed to cover all the bases listed.

of the easier one Lich of Plague seems the best, as diseases and plagues have always been hard to handle, but that may no be that case in this world of magic! so for now Skuggir would just go with the flow until something good fell into his hands, or said hands where forced to make a decision.

Turning to his subordinates evolution, Skuggir saw many of the same options bu also weapon specific roles such as, [worker],[swordsmen],[bowmen], and so on with the most impressive variants being [Necromancer] and [Eclipse Archer]. but Eclipse Archer needed him to evolve into a Eclipse Lich first and Necromancer required an appropriate staff to fall into the dungeon.

With his next improvements to His dungeon, skuggir hoped that some better things wandered right into his lap.
