Ignalis, the city city named after its founder Ignis the great, who in his life time Helped to make many breakthroughs in strategic city planning. his designs accounted for future generations, and the possible technologies they may bring.
but one anomaly no soul had ever figured out was why Ingis had built the inoperable, and ever Stalwart against change door as the center. many had tried to pry the secrets of the door from its sealed stoney surface. many researchers had drawn parallels to the Dungeons from across the world, belying it to be a dungeon that would end the world when it opened.
the church of Ormr, a large group of people who followed the snake god of Ormr, believed it was a gate to Gods home and that's its opening meant the turning of a new and much greater era, their holy obligation to protect it.
For the first time In he history of the world, the Smooth grey Stone doors didn't just budge but opened wide, a wall of pure white greeted the world with firefly like Particulates floating off from it.
This moment sent the whole city into an uproar. many devout followers of Ormr flocked to the gate, only to be turned down due to being to old or strong. All except one young boy, who walked through the Curtin of light and into a cave dark as twilight, the only illumination coming from five sets of floating bones.
seeing Skeletons, some of the weakest monsters, but also those with an untold number of possible evolutions paths, not to dissimilar to the now massive population of pet-like slimes, the young boy knew that while this may not be gods home, it definitely felt like he was at church when within the doors. he felt blessed and connected to god within this cave.
As a smart young boy and aspiring Priest, Thorn had studied the history of the world. With his knowledge he knew that Dungeons where small worlds either naturally forming of crafted buy the gods that would never change on their own. some dungeons even housed sanctuary's for some gods beloved races.
so as not to be immediately Thorn Called out, "hello Mr skeletons. Are you-" but before he could finish his sentence he already had a sword in his face and a light rapidly glowing a brighter orange behind it.
with the hostile response, Thorn started a chant. His plan was to cast purification magic on the leader of the group, a mage in the back.
letting loose the holy chant [Minor Purification] directly on their leader while jumping backwards to just before the door to make distance, Thorn was bewildered when the head skeleton let out a rattle of pleasure its expression one of ecstasy. he ran back out the door for his life.
Skuggir saw a sixteen year old boy with silver hair and brown eyes walk in and make weird noises that sounded angry and aggressive! not wanting to be in a passive situation, Skuggir took this moment to control Clacker who was at the front to attack the boy.
the response of a holy chant scared Skuggir, as holy spells where the bane of all skeletons resistances no matter what fictional universe you have read, or watched. Surprisingly, the [Minor Purification] felt like a relaxing and warm bath in combination with a massage.
While he suffers no damage, his dungeon core and phylactery absorbed the Holy energy Greedily is Gold count shooting up from 680 to 750. while rushed conversations and and an onslaught befell Thorn outside the Dungeon, Skuggir was having fun checking his dungeons condition.
to advance to the next dungeon level he needed to absorb twenty holy points, the corpse of a E-rank and expand to have a designated entrance room and core room.
[Holy points 20/20] (excess turned to gold)
[Corpse of E-rank 0/1]
[Core room 0/1]
[Entrance room 1/1]
Goals! finally something to work towards. now that i think about it... what is a E-rank? what is the base line? is it F or G or Z? ughh even a seemingly standard system in my original world might be backwards here!
Ill just brute force it then! Doubling his work force and fighting force, including the tools they would need, Skuggir got to work on expanding his dungeon while having the now two squads of security told to slaughter anyone who enters.
After a full day of work not just for him but also the rest of his boney underlings, Skuggir had finished a room larger than any other so far, It's entrance matched the size of his front door the arch even matching it's rough shape. The rooms central pathway that lead up to a throne adorning an elevated platform was flanked by 12 Pillars.
With the completion of his all-stone throne room, Skuggir now only had to welcome a guest of E-rank and slaughter them. The security squads had fought many individuals, and a group.
While the individuals who had entered with curiosity mostly escaped with few injuries, a group that had entered was lured in by Clackers team and then ambushed by the squad of newbies. This ambush was planned entirely by the two squads with no input from Skuggir.
Unfortunately, none of the of the members of the party where E-rank. But the one handed longswords they all had used where a direct upgrade from the heavily chipped short swords the two squads of skeletons had been using up till this point.
Moving back to the entrance, Skuggir planned for it to be extended to be larger and for the room after it to have caves flanking it halfway up to the ceiling with holes in the wall.
Sense he was against humans, just brute force would not work! As a former human Skuggir knew that the biggest advantage they had where their brains.
Unfortunately for Skuggir they had been advancing for at least the past thousand years in this city alone, before he arrived.
After closing his doors yet again, Skuggir started his renovations.
