The coachman helped the woman inside. She sat, placing her walking stick beside her. "I did not have time to express my gratitude for saving my life before. So I sincerely thank you if not for your intervention, I would have been dead," she thanked, tearing up.
He responded without emotion, "There is no need for that."
He remembered that day when he stumbled upon two thieves stealing from an old lady. They dragged her outside the carriage and beat her. He was not a chivalrous person, so he was not planning to help her, but, when he heard she was going to treat the marquis' daughter, he stopped in his tracks. He suddenly found himself standing in front of the robbers, scaring them away. Afterwards, he ordered his men to bring the old lady to be treated.
