"Now that I am awake. What would I tell your family if they asked what happened to me again? Did you fall into the lake?" Kristie asked.
Blurred images suddenly burst into Barbara's mind, and then a sharp pain followed. She clutched her aching head, groaning in pain. "I do not remember. When I think of what happened, my head will hurt," she replied, trying to divert her thoughts.
Meanwhile, Kristie frowned, hearing Barbara's response. Did the fall cause so much pain for her that her mind refused to remember that incident? After all, it was difficult to sink into a freezing lake when she didn't know how to swim. She, with the training and sufferings she had gone through all the past years, could say that enrolling in war was better than spending a moment inside that lake in winter.
Kristie did not regret her action, though. At least being inside that lake was better than being caught by that man.
