Chapter 13 - CH13: Celestial Powers

"So, how did you discovered that something strange is happening to you?"

Ken hadn't shared much about how he actually got his powers, he couldn't tell her about the system or the fact that he's a demigod vampire. So he decided to fabricate the story a little, with most of it being the truth.

He claimed to have found himself in a white space while meditating in class, and then this strange ball had appeared in his hands when he was facing off against her. Those were the only time he realised that something strange must be happening to him.

Nodding along thoughtfully, Angela replied. "I guess you turned sixteen recently?"

"Yeah, that was two days ago." Ken wanted to mention the fact that he suffered from constant headaches since that day, but he remembered that it could have been his vampire heritage that caused that, so he decided not to tell her.

"Well then, I'll tell you what you are." Angela stated, her expression becoming serious, while Ken listened intently, his interest piqued.

"You're a celestial, a demigod at that. And as you're quite aware, demigods are half god, half human. They can be born from two demigod parents, or a single demigod parent and a human." She explained.

"So you should know that your parents fall into one of these categories. It would have been great if you know their names at least, it would've helped us find out who they are. If they are dead or alive."

She paused, observing Ken's reaction.

"What's the point." Ken said, shrugging. "They both abandoned me, and besides I don't know any of their names."

He had to hide this fact for now to back up his orphaned story, who knows if his parents were someone important. There must have been a reason why Leah hadn't told him about his parents' origin.

They could be hiding from anyone, and from what he had seen happened to his parents, he couldn't have Leah or uncle Ben get killed because of him.

Although he knew his mother's and father's name, it didn't change the fact that they were already dead — killed by those despicable vampires.

Angela sighed, feeling the pain behind Ken's words. 'Yeah, it must feel like they abandoned you.' She thought.

If she hadn't been in an almost similar situation, she wouldn't have known better nor understood how he felt.

"I too, am also an orphan." She said, staring blankly at the floor below her feet. "Though I knew my parents' names, I was told they were killed by the brigade army for associating with the vampires."

Ken lifted his gaze, he could sense the anger coming from her as she continued her story.

"But I knew it was a lie. My granny informed me of how they had both spotted Mira having a meeting with one of the vampires, months before king Celestius' youngest daughter got killed by vampires. They must have killed my parents to hide their secrets."

Ken could feel the anger in her words, she didn't just had a deep hatred towards the vampires, she also hated the ones that killed her parents - The ones she was currently serving as leaders.

The room had oddly went silent for a minute, until Angela stood from her seat as she went to retrieve a book from a hidden shelf, and then she placed it in front of Ken.

"Here, this will help you have a better understanding of your celestial skills. And also, if you need a place to practice, there's a training hall at the back of the library." she wrote down the lock code inside a paper and passed it to Ken. "The training hall is for your class to use, but on your free time, you can choose to use it to practice."

"The training hall is created in a way no one will be able to see what you're doing from the outside, only except they're in the hall with you. Which means, you should close the door behind you, and ensure no one is inside when you practice your celestial skills. You need to be careful, just as celestial are wary of vampires, they too are wary of us, so be careful not to reveal your true identity to just anyone."

"Okay, I'll keep that in mind. Thank you." Ken appreciated as he took the book, and placed the paper into one of his pockets.

Finally, their long talk had came to an end. And just as Ken was about to leave, Angela had one more thing to say.

"You know I said if four of those balls hit you, you won't suffer any harm." She said and Ken had nodded in response to this. "Well, let me show you why I said."

Snapping her fingers, suddenly the whole room had started changing, the scattered books on Angela's desk disappeared as it seemed to have been arranged in a shelf which apparently wasn't here the whole time.

But what shocked him most was the large hole on the wall that disappeared like it was never even there in the first place.

"How did you do that?" He asked, awestruck by the sudden manifestation.

"That is my power, my celestial power." She claimed. "I'm sure you know gods have a specific power they could use, like the god of thunder, who has the power of thunder, and the god of time, who could manipulate time… Just like gods, demigods also have their own powers, which gradually appears as they grow stronger."

"Mine is illusion, I created an illusion of how my office was, before now. The mana ball in my hands was a total fake I implemented just to scare you and make you act at that time. I guess you understand now why I said it couldn't have hurted you or anything."

Ken understood her words clearly. Hearing about such a power had made him more curious to read the book given to him. And he couldn't help but wonder what type of powers he would end up receiving.

The discussions had ended there and then as the two said their goodbyes, and Ken feeling so grateful for meeting someone like Angela, couldn't help but look forward to meeting her next time.

He hurriedly left her office and could see Scott and Travis, both of them who had been waiting for him for so long. Scott had slept off, but Travis was still awake and had woken Scott up as soon as he saw Ken.

"Wake up, Ken's here." Travis said as he stood and stretched his back, while watching Scott gently rub his eyes.

Ken had gotten to where the two were seated, and then apologised for keeping them waiting for so long. They hadn't objected or anything, instead they kept on asking questions about what Angela had called him to do in her office.

To cover up the real truth of what they discussed, he claimed to have been interrogated by Angela about his meditation skills, and how he got to learn them so well. The two students couldn't help but wonder why she was asking such questions.

They left the building and Ken couldn't help but notice the sunlight.

"It's already sunny." He said, remembering that vampires can't stay under sun. He wondered what will happen if he was to get out in the sun.

From a corner, a certain person stood, watching him from afar, his brows furrowed in anger.

"That turned vampire will expose himself to those celestials. I can't save him this time, he brought it upon himself."
