Chapter 18 - CH18: Meeting the Other Vampire

Once it was nighttime, Ken had decided to set out of his room to head to the second-level dorm building. He needed to find out who the other vampire person was that sent him this letter.

Scott and Travis had spotted Ken exiting the dorm building while heading towards the second-level building. Scott wanted to call him, but Travis had refrained him.

"He seem to be in a hurry." Travis said.

"Just where could he be going by this time?" Scott wondered.

"How about we find out?" Travis had suggested and Scott had agreed. So they followed after Ken, watching as he got to the front of the dorm building.

Several second level students could be seen walking around the building, while some of them were standing as they converse with each other.

Ken not knowing where to go, decided to do as stated in the letter. He took the red envelope out of his pocket, making it visible to those around him, and that was when two students who were busy discussing with each other, spotted him and started making their way towards him.

As they got to where he was standing, they called for him. "Hey, rooftop?" One of them asked.

Turning to look at the two boys that appeared behind him, Ken nodded his head. "Yes, rooftop."

Hearing this, the second level students had confirmed that Ken was the one they were waiting for. So they asked him to follow them as they head inside the building.

Meanwhile, Scott and Travis who had witnessed the whole scene, and couldn't help but wonder who those guys were, and what Ken was planning to do inside the building.

They would have tried following after them to find out, but they decided to stop. They didn't know what Ken was up to, and besides, they remembered the warnings from Lugo, the man that took them on their first tour, to never think of going near the second-level building.

Thinking of what might happen, they had decided to head back to their dorm buildings. However, a certain person had spotted them.

"Who are those kids?" He asked one of the men behind him. "They don't look like any second level students I know. Find out about them."

As Ken was escorted into the building by these two second-level students, he couldn't help but wonder who this other vampire guy was. He thought maybe the two students that escorted him were also vampires, but the scent coming from them had showed that they weren't.

Eventually, they had reached the rooftop where a certain person could be seen standing by the edge, looking at the other buildings around him.

The buttons of his shirt were loosened as the winds blew them to the back, while his long brown hair could be seen tied in a ponytail.

As they got to the roof, the fellow had turned around to look at them. He glanced at Ken with his eyes gleaming with elegance, his sharp jawline seemed to have been chiselled from granite. The aura coming from him also seems to be strong, but welcoming.

"Thanks guys, you can go." His slightly deep masculine voice boomed with authority and confidence. And the two students had immediately left soon after.

But there was another thing that Ken could notice from this person, it was the smell coming from him. He has an almost similar smell to how he smells.

'Is this how vampire smells?' He wondered.

"Hi," the student said as he approached him, and then present an handshake to him. "I'm Sam."

Ken glanced at Sam's hands but had refused to shake it. He instead asked him for what had brought him here, "Where are the students?"

"Ken Layden, an orphan who had came from the city of Cherub." Sam stated as he walked back to the edge of the building. "Doesn't have any siblings. Sixteen years. First level student. Room 129, door passcode; 100248. A young vampire who had never met someone else like him. What else…? Oh, you also faint at the sight of blood. Weird."

Ken's jaw had dropped, his fists tensing with anger as he glared at Sam. "Who are you, how did you know all of this?"

Sam turned around while his back was facing Ken. This would have been the perfect opportunity to attack him, but Ken wanted to hear the answers from him, and he still didn't know where the students from the previous nights were.

Besides, he wondered how strong this person could be, and if his current skills were enough to take him out, all without revealing any of his celestial skills.

As if he could hear his thoughts, Sam had replied. "Take those out of your options, you're no match for me."

Ken was surprised, but that only made him curious about this person. Who exactly was he?

"To answer your first question." He started. "I already told you, I'm Sam, and I'm a vampire like you. For your second question, there's a lot of answers to how I got to know about you."

Then turning around to face him, Sam continued. "Yesterday night, I was just busy doing my own thing when my lovely nose caught the scent of some humans at the park. I closed in on them but that's when I spotted you standing before the two students. One, a second-level student, the other; an already injured first-level student, whose blood had caught our attention."

This was exactly as what Ken had seen in his memory. The two students were both of different levels. Sam's statement was in line with what he had seen.

"The next thing, you tried to approach the injured student, but the second-level student, thinking you were trying to save the boy, stood in your way. He was even attempting to fight you, until you go all vampiric over him, outmatching him with your speed as you lunged forward and bit him on the neck."

"But what surprised me was why you hadn't gone for the injured student next, he still had his injuries out and fresh, many vampires would rushed at him after the first student, but you hadn't done so. It looks like you were able to surpress and limit your intake of blood."

Ken had an idea of what could have caused it, this was because, unlike every other vampire, he had a celestial heritage in him that is suppressing his vampiric self.

This could also be attributed to why he was able to walk in the sun, eat normal human foods, and why many vampire limitations wasn't affecting him.

"Another thing…" Sam continued. "Did you ever wondered how you made it out of the park? How you appeared in your room the next day?"
