"Did you ever wonder how you made it out of the park? How you appeared in your room the next day?" Sam asked.
The question was one that pestered his mind when he woke up this morning, he remembered seeing some students at the school park yesterday, but the scene of what exactly happened was oblivious to him.
So when he went to the park and he found no trace of blood or anything, he concluded that it might have been his imagination, that was until he received a letter claiming to be from someone who knew what he did the previous night.
It was then after meeting Sam and upon hearing his narration, that he was able to put the pictures together, and also the missing part of his memories. But still he had no idea how he had ended up in his room the next morning, except…
"I was the one." Sam said, without even waiting for Ken's reply. "I saw you coming back to your senses, glancing at your hands in fear. Initially, I thought this was your first feeding on a human, 'cause that's how many turned vampires act. But then you claimed to not be able to stand blood, and soon passed out on the ground."
"Now, that made me realise that this might not have been your first time. The ability to control yourself and your urge has been attributed to the fact that you're scared of blood. Did something happened to you that led to that?" Sam asked.
"It's a personal matter." Ken replied, not willing to reveal his secrets to him. But so far, he was impressed by how this fellow had roughly assumed his life and what might have happened to him.
He guessed some parts right, while the others weren't truly what had happened to him. Yet, he wasn't willing to tell him about it. If anything, it saved him from revealing how he had became a vampire.
Who knows, his story might not be what he was expecting, which could have led to a lot of suspicions from Sam.
"Well, it's alright if you don't want to talk about it. We all have our own secrets that we're keeping within ourselves." Sam said, before continuing his story.
"So, I carried you with your bloody hands and bloody clothes, and took you to your room, away from anyone's sight. Do you realise how hard that was. Luckily, there weren't many people around, so I managed to take you in, clean you up and left you on the bed."
"How were you able to get inside my room?" Ken asked.
"I have my ways." Sam smiled. "Aren't you concerned about the student you bit and the other one that saw you?"
"Yeah, what happened to them? They're not dead, are they?" Ken asked, his heart beating faster.
"That should be the least of your worries." Sam replied before stretching his hands forwards, turning it anti-clockwise, a red portal had appeared. "Come on, we're late. Everyone's waiting."
"Everyone?" Ken inquired, his brows furrowed surprisingly.
"Yeah, everyone like us." Sam replied as he stepped into the portal.
Hearing this, numerous thoughts had ran across Ken's mind. Among them was maybe this was the hideout of all vampires, if he could find the person that killed his parents, learn more about them, then maybe one day he would be able to avenge their deaths.
With the thoughts in mind, he approached the portal before eventually going through it. Suddenly, he found himself in a small hall. It was an abandoned building used to hold events in the academy.
He looked around him, noticing every single person. They were all vampires, and not only that, but they were also students like him. This had came as a surprise to him as he imagined he would be arriving in a town or city full of other vampires.
"Ah, guys. Meet our newest member, Ken." Sam introduced, standing at the front of the hall where a whiteboard was placed to the wall.
The vampires were a number of twenty, including Sam, and they all turned to glance at Ken, their expressions a bit frightening. For a moment, Ken had attempted to escape through the portal behind him, but it had disappeared before he could.
Suddenly, their expressions had turned into a smile as one of those closest to him had grabbed him by the shoulder while escorting him to one of the empty seats. They gave him a warm welcome and treated him as one their own.
"Is this the dude you were talking about? The one you thought to have been turned?" One of the vampires asked.
"The kid we almost got punished for?" Another said.
Ken, hearing this had turned to face them. "What do you mean?"
"The thing is… Sam here thinks you were a turned vampire who went rampage on the night we saved you. Isn't that yesterday night?" The first vampire explained.
Then Sam decided to speak. "These guys here had helped you clean up the mess you made last night. The human you bit was dead, so we had to dispose his body. Also we had clean up before the curfew time. So you owe everyone here a thank you." He said.
Hearing this, Ken imagined what would have happened if he had been found during the curfew. Who knows if it would have been a celestial or a random human being. Perhaps he wouldn't have been here at this time.
Feeling indebted to them all, he bowed his head slightly, saying his thank you to all of them.
After that, Sam had announced for the beginning of their meeting. On the white board, he started writing something down. And it read as thus;
"Level Up Day! The day the vampires take action against the celestials."
Seeing what was written on the board, everyone had a grin on their face. But as he glared at the words, Ken couldn't make sense of what it actually entails. Yes, they are taking actions against the celestials. But when, how?
