"So tell me, how is it that a celestial like you doesn't know they're a celestial?" Angela asked, curiosity sparkling in her eyes.
Ken sighed, pondering how much to reveal. "Until now, I actually didn't know I'm a celestial." He said, trying to hide the fact that he already knew what he was, so Angela could explain.
Angela's expression turned thoughtful. "Well, first, where are your parents. Being a celestial means either one or both of your parents are celestial themselves. So what do you know about your parents? Did neither of them told you what they are, or that you're likely to become a celestial once you come of age?" She asked.
"Actually," Ken said with a saddened voice. "I've been an orphan all my life, so I didn't get to know anything about my parents, or the fact that they could be a celestial."
Angela's expression softened. "Oh, that explains it. Sorry, I had no idea."
She paused, collecting her thoughts. "Since you don't know what you are, let me give you a brief history and explain what it means to be a celestial."
"Celestials, is a general name for both demigods and gods. But the numbers of demigods on earth are many than that of gods, and this was due to a reason."
"Long, long ago, the gods lived in a world called the Celestium. King Celestius had three daughters, who were also gods themselves. To determine who would inherit his throne, he devised a test for his three daughters. The test was for them to gather as much followers as they could. So he sent them to a world called Earth. And then, after a few years later, they would all return. While the one with the highest followers would claim the throne."
Ken listened intently as Angela continued.
"The three daughters agreed to the king's wish, and set out to Earth. But as they arrived on earth, they discovered how much trouble was occurring, how the humans there were constantly being invaded by neighbouring planets. The third daughter, being a half-sister to the other two, was keen to help the humans."
"She would often fight against the invaders, and rescue many lives. Her courage had build a momentum in many people's life as it encouraged them to stand against the invaders, and together, they managed to triumph over their oppressors."
"Soon, many people started to recognise her, and before she knew it, she was being treated as a leader, earning her a huge amount of followers all over the earth. But despite everything, fate had other plans for her."
"She would have become the next queen, claiming her father's throne. But unfortunately, she was killed by the vampires. And although we aren't particularly friends with them before, our grudge against them had increased ever since her death. In the end, the eldest sister was told to be likely to earn the throne."
"But over the past few years, nothing had happened, as the king had yet to decide whether to hand over the throne to her or not. It was only recently that we heard that the king wants the head of the vampire leader who ordered for the death of his daughter. Only then will he hand over his throne. And that is why Mira, the eldest daughter and our leader, had given us special orders to kill any vampire we see on sight."
Ken absorbed the tale, sensing hidden complexities. Could the death of the third daughter truly be without her siblings' involvement? He found it strange that none of them were envious when their youngest sister was amassing lots of followers than them.
"Besides, they weren't even full sisters, at one point of time, the other two would have been envious of her, and maybe even plot with the enemy to take her out." Ken said, wondering about the dynamics between the sisters.
"I see your point." Angela said, smiling. "I like you, you're smart. And that is why I will tell you an unshared part of the story."
She leaned in closer and continued. "Although, the youngest daughter was doing great, having many followers under her, the other two weren't particularly happy about this. She had a lots of followers, and they felt like sooner or later, she was going to get the throne."
"They felt that their lives were threatened, knowing well that they hadn't particularly been the best of the sisters to her. They had to stop her from getting the throne. What should be heard of them, that they lost the throne to their younger sister? Especially one that wasn't even their full-sister - a person whose mother was nothing but a concubine to their father."
"So they started targeting her followers, killing them so their numbers would dwindle down. Those who pleaded for their lives were mercilessly executed. While others were threatened to renounce her as their leader. And there's no way this would happen without her knowing.
"The youngest sister discovered their treachery and confronted her two sisters. They got into a large fight, but in the end she triumphed. After giving them a last warning while threatening to report to their father, the king, she decided to let them go. She wouldn't kill any of her siblings."
"However, the two sisters couldn't bear the shame of what happened to them, so they devised another plan. And that was associating with the enemy to take out their half-sister. We don't know the full details of what exactly happened, but many believed the two sisters have a hand in the death of their youngest sister."
Ken sighed, processing the intricate tale. It sounded like a word out of a novel, but he knew it was real. Many things are happening in their current world that seemed like they weren't real, but in fact they are real.
Is it the fact that everyone could now learn to wield elemental powers like earth or water, those were things believed to actually exist in novels, but now it had became a reality.
So Ken believed the tales of gods existing to be true, maybe if he hadn't turned into one, he wouldn't have believed her.
"Now that i've told you this, you should be mindful of who you share the story with." Angela warmed. "The Brigade Army won't tolerate dissent against Mira or her sister. So it will be better if you keep the story to yourself. I only told you because you seem like a trustworthy person."
The brigade army is like a police force who deals with the crime committed by a citizen. While the police deals with humans, in the case of the brigade army, it is celestials they deal with. They exist to maintain the balance between celestials and other races.
Angela's expressed then turned towards Ken. "Now that you know you're a celestial, how about we talk about your powers?"
