I am not a fan of kids because they've never liked me, that's why I didn't buy the idea of Poppy being a kid when I first saw him, if only I knew he was a cute but foulmouthed old man. The thing is I just realized that the weakness Avery mentioned in the book to Lily in the book was Sage. He was so cool about it.
"I'll tell you what my weakness is so told me, does that make me look like a better person in your eyes?" I was red faced in that scene, but now its just… whatever. Why did Lily care about his weakness, though?
He was terrified when she went missing and has been super nice around her. Avery, the egotistic, rude and rich male lead was acting nice, mind-blowing. I like Sage, but I can't help my ulterior motive.
"Can I hold your dragon?" Sage asked.
"No," Poppy and Avery chorused, just that only I knew. What's wrong with them?
"I'd love that, but your brother won't like that," I whispered, and she nodded in agreement.
"My brother can be high maintenance," she said glancing at him.
"I can see that," I said and we both laughed. Sage has definitely scored another point for her brother, this cupid is getting to work. I don't care how my relationship with Lily is now, I have a job, and I'll fulfil it even if it means I have to stop avoiding her.
We walked round and chatted about 'girl stuff' as we checked out different stores and tried guessing what they were selling. I forgot about Avery at some point, but the blissful moment had to come to an end.
"It was nice playing with you, sis," Sage said holding her brother's hand.
"Same here, let's do this again some time," I said, and her face lit up.
"Really?" she asked and I nodded.
"Yes, but that's if your brother is okay with it," I said and we both looked at him, Avery sighed and said,
"fine."
"Great, then let's go to the harvest festival together," Sage said the best thing I've heard all day. How didn't I think of that? Is she secretly a cupid? If not, she just got the job, I knew I liked the kid.
…
I went home excited, Sage didn't know that she helped me. I'll go to the festival with Lily and the jackpot bearer, Sage, and of course, the jackpot bearer cannot be without the jackpot, Avery. I'll leave them to their fantasies and be off to try out whatever calls me.
I started preparing for the ball that was to be held in the palace. That ball, I think it was the hand that pushed poor gullible Rose into the hands of the first nice person, Jupiter, her grand entrance into the book is not until later.
Rose had been experiencing world-class definition of leading on and fell for the prince, but around the prince fell for her sister instead. She was hurt when he quickly cut and paste his affection to Lily and was not even trying to hide it, then the tug of war with other male leads started right in her face. Poor thing.
I was sitting on my reading table enjoying a nice romance novel I picked up, it was tragedy as well. I don't there is any story in this world that ends with happily ever afters.
"Poppy," I called, but he was sleeping. "Okay, what is wrong with you?" I asked standing up to walk to the bed. He was in his human form, wearing clothes, I touched his head to check his temperature, but before I could, he opened his eyes?
"What?" he asked staring at me blankly.
"Why are you always sleeping? Are you sick?" I asked, worried. Poppy sat up and gave me a look of disbelief.
"I am not a human who falls sick pointlessly." ouch! This rude brat couldn't just say I'm fine.
"Sorry for worrying about you, brat," I spat standing up. I could feel Poppy's piercing gaze as I walked back to my seat, but I ignored him.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"Nothing," I said continuing my book. It was the book two of the one that made me cry, and gosh the writer really has it out for these people. I felt something climb my head but ignored it.
"What's with you recently?" Poppy asked.
"What do you mean?" I asked pretending to concentrate.
"You get angry at the slightest of things," he stated plainly.
"Sorry to inform you, but I was born that way," I said pointlessly trying to focus on my book.
"You're becoming irritable, Silver." I think it's the other way around.
"Get off my head," I blurted. He flew to my laps and got comfortable there, the annoying dragon. I sighed giving up on the argument and on the book. "I'm going out," I said closing the book. Poppy flew to the bed quietly and continued his sleep. "Didn't you say I shouldn't go out without you?" I asked as the annoyance started brewing again.
"Won't you get dressed?" he asked and that really annoyed me. I really need sugar, a lot of sugar.
We went out, but Poppy was asleep throughout. I went out for fresh air, but I still felt annoyed and really worried. I stopped at my regular snacks shop and got just the right amount of sugar to soothe my angry stomach. I wasn't in the mood to eat, but I still had to for my goal.
"Someone just bought the last one," the owner said to someone as I turned to leave.
"Miss," someone called me. I turned and looked at the person who was calling me. Can today get any worse?
"I wanted to buy that snack you have there, I'm willing to pay you double its price for it," he said and I rolled my eyes. What does this stupid knight think? That I'd give up my babies or what?
