"What do you want to ask me?" I asked pretending to not have any interest when I was curious.
"It's nothing, forget it," he said turning to leave.
"Hey, you shouldn't leave someone hanging like that," I shouted.
"Are you that curious?" he asked with a smirk. I can't believe this stupid knight.
"Forget it," I said turning to walk away with the last bit of pride I had left. I heard him laughing and turned to look at him. What is up with this male leads? First Ryle, now Maxon, they look like models even when they are laughing. Should I start a modelling company with those four as my models? The book didn't do justice to Maxon's beauty, he might be annoying, but I still think he is… pretty.
"Why are you laughing?" I asked. They might be hot, but I still don't like them.
"I never expected a reaction from you, I guess you're not as scary as they say," he said. I may be an outer worldly beauty, but I'm still human. It's funny how rumors spread like wildfire.
"What's this person saying?" I scoffed.
"I like you," he said and waited for a reaction, but I was waiting for him to complete his statement. He laughed again which made me wonder if he was high. "This is unexpected." Oh, he thought I was like his many fans, too bad I'm team Avery. "I wanted to ask for advice on how to ask Lady Lilyanne to the Harvest ball," he said. Oh, this knight really is something.
If I remember clearly, he didn't ask Lily to go with him on time and had an argument with the prince. Sorry but this cupid want to watch that scene, as uninterested as I am in the affairs of the male leads, I could do with a little comic relief in this story.
"You should figure it out yourself," I stated. It's just like prom, but prom that could lead to marriage.
"Help a friend in need," he pleaded and I scoffed. The main characters really have issues, friend? Really!
"No, I would rather not interfere in my sister's affairs," I said, and he sighed giving up.
"Okay, I get it," he said. Oh, I don't feel bad at all.
I turned and walked away really anticipating the fight. I had gotten what I wanted, and I definitely had enough of it. I just wanted to sleep and join Poppy in the dream world. Its funny how he doesn't fall off my head, I want him to. Why doesn't he just stay at home if he's tired? I can't stay away from him for a second, he'd come looking for me like some clingy dog. I feel like I'm playing hide and seek with a tracker on my back. It's cute because its Poppy.
…
The tailors came for their usual fitting, I just stood there like a mannequin as they fitted the already fitted dress. Lady Nort walked in and looked at me like I was an exhibition, I don't blame her.
"The dress looks… okay," she gave her approval, and they started taking off the dress, what's the point? After taking dress off I wanted to go back to my room but Lady Nort said,
"Don't dance tomorrow so that you won't embarrass your family," I had no plan of dancing, I'll lose so much fat from trying to figure out the next step. "And I hope you don't intend taking your dragon with you," she said looking at me with an almost glare. At this point, she just wants attention, go meet the beloved Lily, I'm too tired for this.
"I haven't decided yet," I said coldly and walked out.
I walked inside my room and saw Poppy sleeping as usual, is he pregnant? Is Poppy a girl? I know he's not, but I don't get it anymore, is he sick?
"Poppy," I called but got no response. "Poppy," I called again shaking him.
"What?" he replied weakly.
"Tomorrow is the ball," I said.
"Okay," he replied.
"You're not going with me," I stated, and he sat up looking at me like I was spilling nonsense.
"Why?"
"Because I can't take a dragon to the Imperial Palace, I'll get in trouble," I said.
"Then don't go," he said lying down. I laughed but he was serious.
"It's my first harvest ball I have to go," I explained.
"No," he said. I find clingy cute, but there is a limit, kid.
"I'm not asking for your permission, Poppy," I said feeling a bit annoyed. He didn't respond he just went back to sleep.
A light knock on the door caught my attention and I stood up and walked to the door, I opened and it and was met with Lily's emerald eyes.
"I wanted to umm…" She's learning, it's a good thing she knows that she's supposed to go straight to the point. "Are we still going together for the festival?"
"Yes, of course," I said.
"Oh, okay," she said relaxing a bit.
"Is that all?" I asked.
"Y… yes," she replied. I nodded, and she turned to leave, I shut the door and walked to the bed towering over Poppy, I want to drag the pillow under his head and disturb his sleep, but I won't.
Tomorrow will be the long-awaited ball. My days here are numbered now, but nothing is going as planned. I haven't gained any weight, my death flags keep approaching me and the countdown to Jupiter's arrival is almost up. I avoided running into the prince by staying indoors and not doing stupid things like going to the palace, so I'm clear there. I've successfully cut off someone that would have been my best friend in this world but was a death flag, so that's also a clear. I don't think Maxon will last so that should be a clear. Even though Avery was the slowest on the Lily race, he did one thing right which was asking Lily out first. With my support, he could go miles ahead, so that is also a clear. I just hope nothing goes wrong before I leave.
