Chapter 29 - Another unwanted meeting

I removed the cloak I was wearing, and the smug smile quickly left his face, better because his face was starting to annoy me.

"I don't want to," I said plainly. As expected of my favorite place, popular among the male leads.

"A lady shouldn't take things like that," he advised, I couldn't help the scoff that came out.

"Sir, you shouldn't speak to a lady like that, its rude," I scolded. How dare this annoy male lead tell me that my only source of happiness is not good for me? I really need sugar, or I'll lose my mind and who knows what will happen after that.

He was surprised, but I didn't care and just kept walking, I covered head so that the sun won't disturb Poppy's beauty sleep. I saw a small shop that sold kids toys and decided to get one for Sage, as a "Thank You" gift and peace offering to the one that bears the jackpot.

What will a kid like Sage like? She looked around eight or nine, so what will she like? I looked around for a while ignoring the stares of people around me, it's not like they can see my pretty face anyway. I walked to the desk and paid when I finally decided on a pink teddy, I kind of want one, but I have to hold it in. I was almost tempted to buy one for Poppy just to tease him, but I didn't, he's going through a lot, probably.

I walked out I saw that Maxon, the stupid knight was standing there, I walked past him acting like I couldn't see him. He walked faster and stood in my way.

"I am sorry for how I behaved," he said flashing me a flirty smile. Ew! He doesn't realize that he just lost a sister point.

"Go away," I said, it was the most polite way I could say it without using the f-word. He was shocked but tried to hide it, is it your first time getting rejected?

He kept following me, but I ignored him, when I got to where I'd order a carriage I stopped and turned he took a step back and stared back at me.

"Why are you following me?" I asked, irritated.

"I'm not following you," he denied and I nodded.

"Is that so?" I asked and walked past him, but he followed me. I just got rid of one male lead I can't be bothered with another. I stopped again and faced him. "Did you just remember what you forgot?"

"No," he said.

"Then what?" I asked, exhausted from just looking at his face.

"I'm just making sure you get home safely," he said. Pests, both this annoying knight and Ryle, they are all pests.

"Thank you very much, now leave," I said rudely, but he won't budge. "What now?"

"Did anyone ever tell you that you're scary?" That made me blush, I'm flattered.

"Many times," I replied. It's my brand anyway.

It was nice to be back in the comfort of my room. I dropped the things I was carrying, including Poppy, the snacks didn't make it. I rang the bell and almost immediately after Millie walked in, that was fast.

"Millie, prepare a bath for me," I said and she nodded. I dropped the teddy the table and went to take a bath.

When I returned Poppy was already comfortable in his human form, wearing clothes. I don't think he's aware of where he is, he's been sleeping nonstop. I walked to the bed and lied down feeling exhausted myself.

Maxon Ashwell, that knight is not innocent as well. He was part of the murder, if Ryle didn't insist he'd have done the job himself. He's just a stupid player who thinks every girl likes him, it's all because of that stupid face of his that's just too handsome.

Poppy and I slept for a really long time that when I woke up, I was feeling fatigued. I must have caught Poppy's sickness because I was feeling too tired I just wanted to sleep in, not like I had anything better to do. It was two days to the Harvest festival and I promised myself I'd see the preparations through. I got dressed and walked out knowing that Poppy would follow me. We went to the streets watching everyone getting ready for the festivals.

"Such a beautiful day," I said walking around the streets. I was bored and tired, but I still wanted to go out.

I walked round marking the stores that were selling food, I have full intention of stuffing my face after serving my purpose as a cupid, should I let Sage tag along? I'll introduce her to the world of gluttony. If my favorite food cart wasn't popular among male leads I'd have gone there, but they stole it from me just like they stole my life. I haven't seen Ryle since we parted that day, while it's a good thing I also know that I won't be that bored if he were here.

"Hey," a voice called my attention and I turned to see Maxon standing there with a smile.

I need to know why this male leads just pop up in the most unexpected places. I'm done with this people, can't someone sight see without getting disturbed.

"Why are you speaking informally to me?" I asked frowning.

"I'm Maxon," he started ignoring my question.

"Okay," I said not sure why he was telling me.

"You're an interesting element, Lady Rose," he stated. Because I'm not into you?

"Is that so?" I said walking away, I was too tired to deal with any of that.

"Why do you come out here every day?" he asked following me. Was this character this annoying?

"To watch the preparations," I stated vaguely.

"After meeting you yesterday I wanted to ask you something," he said. Ask away. "But I don't think I should," he said stopping. Now I'm curious.
