"Didn't you come by yourself?" I asked.
"My magic is restricted to the wish of my masters," he said.
"Well, I wished you'd come," I countered.
"You didn't wish it to me," he retorted.
"What do you mean?" I asked, not wanting to hear it, but still curious.
"The seal…" he paused and shook his head. "Never mind, maybe I'm wrong," he said and I nodded. I didn't know whether I should feel disappointed or not, but kind of knew it deep down that hoping was pointless.
"Gosh, you almost scared me there," I said with awkward laughter, I grabbed the new depressing book I started reading recently, good stuff.
"My seal is resonating with something, I'd have to find it so that I can break the seal," he said, and I turned to look at him.
"Seriously?" I asked.
"Yes," he said, and I smiled wildly, at least one good thing happened today.
"Then that's good news," I said, still smiling. I can't believe it, Poppy can free himself, that's good. He's an extra that didn't even show in the book, so if he is freed, it won't affect the story. It's a Win-Win, except for the fact that I'm trying to change my fate, and destroy the entire plot of the story, but we'd cross that bridge when we get there.
"Do you need help finding it?" I asked.
"No, I'll do fine on my own," he said.
"Can't I just wish for your seal to be broken?" I asked and he shook his head.
"It won't work."
"Then what about wishing for you to find whatever it is that can break your seal?" I asked again but, of course, it won't work. "Just tell me if you need any help, I'm rich, so I can help you money-wise," I said proudly.
"Okay," he said, yawning. Did riding a dragon make Poppy mature? Or did he lose a screw from all the wind? I expected an insult, but he just said "okay". This is too much for my weak heart, how they grow so fast.
I focused on my book, trying hard not to make any noise because Poppy was sleeping, as usual. I finished the book in tears, but I wasn't sad, and I knew it was because of the news of Poppy's seal. Maybe I'd reconsider riding a dragon if it's Poppy, I might not mind. But no promises.
…
I spent the rest of the next few days indoors having spent all my going out energy on my kidnap experience. Ryle must have been annoyed by how I behaved, but I have no regrets, all the male leads except Avery is a big NO.
I woke up early as usual, with Poppy next to me as usual. The harvest festival is in a week and I have to start scouting, I need to pick the stores that I'd have a date with. I got dressed and walked happy to see my prospective stores, Poppy flew towards me quickly and landed on my head.
"Did you intend to go out without me again?" he asked.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know I had to take you everywhere," I said sarcastically. He didn't reply, Poppy didn't reply. What's wrong with him?
I love reading historical romance fictions, the cute scenes always start with getting down from a carriage. Why do they do that? They never mention how long it takes to get there, if it were a reality show, they'd have to fix their makeup to hide their exhaustion. If you check the scenes where someone is sick in a carriage, they are actually sick of the carriage. I couldn't take it anymore, so I followed Poppy to the dream world. I could have finished ten long books and still have time for more, do they train their horses to be slow? I actually hate carriages, a lot.
We reached the marketplace which was the main event of the harvest festival, instead f selling well they are still selling but this time It's for fun. I watched as people prepared for the harvest festival, this people don't know what is called "procrastination" at all. I get it they are 'commoners' but they can leave the preparations for a few days to the festival and still get things done.
"Hey, big sis," I heard someone shouting from behind me. "Big sis." I looked round and saw that everyone was staring at me. I turned to see who it was that was calling me 'big sis' fully prepared to explain to them that I'm a last child, but it was Sage and she came bearing gifts. It wasn't Christmas, and she just gave me an idea that can only be considered a gift, she came with my jackpot. I smiled sheepishly and strolled to them.
"Sage, what a surprise to see you here," I said when deep down I wanted to say, "Thank you for bringing my jackpot to me and helping me get an incredible idea." but I didn't.
"Good day, Sir Avery," I said, curtsying.
"My pleasure," he said, bowing in response.
"What are you doing here alone?" Sage asked."I'm scouting for… I mean I wanted to watch people as they prepared for the festival, I sincerely appreciate," I said and I meant it. I appreciate the process that leads to all that food, it is a must-see.
"You care about things like that?" Avery asked, surprised.
"Of course, it is a noble act to bring joy to people," I said, and by people I mean 'me'.
"I… I see," he said, looking astonished. Why is he so surprised? Is this his first time meeting a foodie? Possibly. I am the one who's surprised that they didn't react to Poppy, who just lied there like a lifeless bug.
"Sis, do you want to play with me?" Sage asked. Oh, I'm no longer a pervert. It's pretty funny how you call someone a pervert one day and expect them to say yes to your request a few days later.
"Sage, you shouldn't bother Lady Rose," Avery said.
"I don't mind. What do you want to do, Sage?"
