Chapter 1 - It's not a dream?

The sun pierced through my eyes sharply as I moaned and blocked my eyes from the sunlight, saying,

"Millie, close the curtains." Millie?

"My lady, you have to get up. Lady Nort won't be pleased if you're late for your rehearsals." I sat up and looked at the speaker, perplexed. Rehearsals? Millie? What?

"Rehearsals?" I asked, confirming what I heard.

"Yes, so get up so you can prepare. The ball is in a week." Huh? I stand up, scanning my environment, this must be a dream. I laughed out loud in realization: it's just a dream. Furthermore, I decided to play along because of the superstition I heard recently, courtesy of Ronnie; if you tell the people in your dreams that it's a dream, something bad would happen to you. I'll just wait until I wake up, it must be because I passed out when I fell and hit my head.

After dressing up, I walked out of the room I was in. I followed the girl called Millie that was with towards where I was supposed to have a rehearsal. Must be piano, I do play the piano, so that's basically the only rehearsal I can have in a dream. Some ladies had dressed me up, which was… I looked too extravagant, I wondered if I was dreaming of playing for some rich guys or something. Will Ronnie be in this dream? The building looked so antique I felt like taking pictures, don't I have a phone in this dream?

Millie, that name sounds familiar, she stopped in front of a door and motioned for me to go in, giving me a sympathetic look before walking off. What was that? I walked into the hall and looked around in awe. Pretty. There was a blonde girl with bright emerald green eyes seated by the corner playing with…

"Fire?" I schooled my expression, so I won't seem shocked. Remember, play along, I scolded myself. This is one weird dream. I couldn't just help but notice that she fit the description of the protagonist of the book I just reading. No way!

The more I stared at her, the more dizzy I got. My head started hurting, a very painful feeling filled my body, the back of my head where I hit started hurting. I lost my balance but caught myself on time just as unusual memories started filling my head. It came to me so fast and hard it hurt more, but the pain stopped so suddenly it felt like it never happened. The memories were of a sad little girl from her first memory down to when she died, it was all vague and I couldn't piece it together well, but I was sure it was definitely the story of one of the villains from the book I was just reading. No way!

I gasped and ran to a mirror by the corner and looked at it, scared of what I'll see, but curious all the same. A red haired girl, with blue eyes that were so dark and lifeless, stood in front of me. Who's this? This isn't my body, this isn't me, this isn't my world. I walked towards the girl who was too engulfed in what she was doing to notice my presence and touched the fire, it hurt.

"Ah… What are you doing?" She half screamed at me as she made the fire disappear and grabbed my hand. A cold sensation, like ice, touched the burn, and it stopped hurting.

"This isn't a dream?" Was all I could say.

"What are you talking about, sister?" Sister? "Why do you think you are dreaming?" The blonde girl looked into my eyes with a soul piercing gaze. I drew my hand back forcefully and stepped back, still not believing it. There's no way I'm in another world, that's like the top theme for romance fantasy lovers like me. I love reading about it, but it wasn't in my radar to experience it. This is messed up, really messed up.

Millie… The maid, who was very close to this person, more like a best friend. Lady Nort was the definition of evil, I don't want to think about her. If I'm right, then this blonde girl is…

"Sylph…," I called without realizing.

"Yes?" She responded, and I had to hold my mouth to prevent the gasp that was about to escape. She inched closer and touched my forehead, or her forehead-- I'm not sure. She smiled and said, "You don't have a fever. Are you feeling unwell?" Yes. I am running mad, I felt like saying, but I held my tongue and turned around, walking away.

A lady in her late thirties walked in with tiny glasses hanging on her pointed nose, her short dark hair shone neatly, and you could see her dark eyes with its piercing gazes through her glasses.

"Going somewhere, Lady Rose?" The name I've been dreading hearing, so it's true I took the wrong bus on the reincarnation trip.

I turned, feeling my whole body tremble… Or her entire body. This lady is so intimidating, but I can't show it, right?

"No, Lady Nort," I reply, totally terrified. Little calculations here. If you add Rose's fear with mine, that extremely terrified. This lady was a torture machine in the book. She was Rose and her sister's governess, but as expected, she had a favorite.

We practice dance but just as the book mentioned, Rose sucks. Even when I was me… Did I die? Anyway, even then, I was a terrible dancer. So in another calculation, my level of suck-- which is very high-- combined with Rose's level-- which is the highest, equals ultra suck.

This is not what I bargained for, I don't even know what to call this. Was I forced to live in a story? What will the story of my life be called? Forced to live a wretched life? I can't be wasting my time here dancing. I know at some point in my life I was like it'd be nice to go to another world, but it was a joke. A stupid joke. Somebody should please wake me up from this torture.

After our torture… I mean, practice finally ended, I collapsed on the floor. I could barely stand up, and breathing seemed to be the only thing I could manage to do. Liliyanne, that is the main character, sat beside me.

"You really need more practice, Sil... Rose," she said jokingly. I have no idea why, but I took it as an insult. I stood up, almost falling in the process and limped away saying,

"Too bad I'm not the protagonist," and walked away. To be correct, limped away.

So it's not a dream?
