Chapter 7 - The stranger

I walked around the streets of the marketplace, feeling really happy that I could finally breathe fresh air outside that mansion. After my one week of torture, I could use a break, especially after what happened yesterday. I'm so embarrassed, why did I break down like that?

Millie had insisted that I wore a cape, although I don't see the use. I don't think anyone knows me here anyway, I'm not yet popular. The only people that'd recognize me are the people who came for my debutante last week. I intend filling my stomach with enough fatty foods that I'd be blown up in a minute. Cake, candy, cookies, anything with sugar throw it my way.

I was so giddy about my little excursion I felt like a child. The best part was the thought of the food, I've always been a foodie, but I had to cut down a little bit to fit in my wonderful taste of clothes. Now that I'm in this body, I want to grow fat, so I will awaken my locked skill… Gluttony!

The smell of honey called me towards a small food cart. Oh! Plenty of sweets. I drooled at the sight and looked at the seller, who must have been speaking to me.

"Give me this and this, oh and this," I pointed at a lot of things.

"Okay, but will you be able to finish this much?" He asked, looking worried. I smile and laugh proudly.

"Well, sir, I have a goal that I must achieve," I said and he nodded.

"I see, well, good luck," he said, handing me the package. "Come again," he said from behind me, and I waved in response.

I pick up a piece of cupcake and stuff my face with it. I don't know what I expected, but it's normal. I thought magic world pastries would taste magical, but it's just normal. "So sweet," I squealed, beaming with joy. I saw an alley and decided to cut corners to make much of my tour. I had a curfew, excluding the two hour journey from the mansion.

"Miss, Miss," someone called from behind me, I turned around, saying a little prayer in my head. "Please help me with a little food, I'm hungry and might die soon," he stated. Don't say you'll die soon, or you'll actually die. Poor guy! But most importantly, my sweets I would rather not share at all. I looked at it then at the man, he'd probably not have anything to eat this night as well.

"Okay, but I intend tasting everything, so would it be okay if we both take a half portion of everything?" I asked, and he nodded quickly, collapsing on the floor from exhaustion. I sat opposite him and dropped the takeout bag on the floor. We ate quietly, only saying "tasty" and "delicious" once in a while. It's unwise of me to seat here with a stranger that might be a serial killer or worse, but I really hit it off with him.

"You are my savior, I thought I'd get in trouble again," he said, beaming with joy.

"Well, I couldn't just leave you to die," I said looking to make sure we were done.

"Oh, this level of hunger can't kill me, I lied," he said.

"Huh? Then why did I share my…? My precious sweets," I grumbled to myself. He burst out in laughter.

"You are a funny one," he says still laughing.

"You have guts saying that after deceiving me," I said, feeling really pissed off. I took off my hood because it was starting to suffocate, I leaned against the wall letting out a deep sigh, I need to calm down before I get arrested for murder.

He looked at me in astonishment but didn't say a word, I know I'm pretty but don't gawk. I can't see his face clearly because it's dark, but I can tell, though I'm surprised that he can see me in the dark, talk about sight.

"So, how did you end up like that?" I asked changing the topic.

"What do you mean?" He replied, feigning ignorance.

"You're a noble, right?" I asked.

"No, I'm not," he replied.

"I see, guess I'm wrong," I say, standing up. He stood up quickly and grabbed my hand.

"Wait," he said hurriedly. I looked at my hand then at him, and he let go immediately, he's so tall.

"Let me repay your kindness," he said.

"Interesting, what can you do for me?" I asked, shaking my head in disbelief.

"I can grant you a wish," he said. Are you a genie? I already have a magic ring that's enough. He stepped forward as I was about to speak. My throat went dry as I took a step back. I just shared an embarrassing moment with my killer. I took another step back trying to collect myself, as if he sensed my fear he asked, "What's wrong?"

"N… Nothing," I replied hastily, holding my head like I had a headache.

He doesn't know that I'd hurt his sweetheart, I am not the villainess yet, so there's nothing to be scared of. I took a deep breath and looked at the man in front of me. He had light blue hair like the skies with long bangs that covered his eyes a little, but I could see the ash eyes that made him look blind.

"Owing me can be a chore," I threatened.

"Okay, next time we see tell me your wish," he smiled and finished with," Lady Rose Percando."

"Wait, how did you…," I couldn't finish my statement because he vanished. Like literally vanished into thin air, he just dematerialized right in front of me. What the hell? I need to go home, I'm going mad.

I went to order a carriage and went home still in shock. What the hell was that? Did it really happen? How did he do that? It was probably magic, but is that allowed.

"My lady, how was your day?" Millie asked, appearing besides me as I made my way inside. Is she one of them?

"Good."

"Your sister asked me to invite you for tea once you return."

"I see," I said, still in shock. "Will there be extremely fatty food?" Okay, maybe I'm no longer in shock.

"Huh?!" She exclaimed.

"Nevermind I could visit that shop again." I walked straight to the garden where I was to meet Lily, the moment she saw me, Lily smiled.
