"I have been thinking about this since we last met," Ryle started. "Those sweets…" My brain instantly went on alert.
"What about sweets?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Where did you get them?" He asked, and I sighed, not in relief.
"That is a very important information, would you promise to use it wisely?" I asked feeling motivated, I'm so proud of my sweet shop to have met the taste of a male lead.
"Yes," he said with a tone that matched my serious tone. It's funny how well I click with this kid, he's older, but whatever.
"Good," I said, describing the place to him and he nodded attentively and thanked me. I felt like saying, "Don't worry about it, just make sure you spread the news," but I didn't.
"So what am I paying you with?" He asked out of nowhere.
"Huh?"
"I told you next time we meet I'd pay you back for your kindness," he explained. Well, it wasn't in my itinerary to meet you again, so how would I remember?
"I don't need payment, your diligence to sweets and sugar is enough," I said meaning it. I really didn't need any payment, I'm stocked and have a rich brother-in-law to be. He laughed and wow, that's a lot of money wasting.
"Well, just know that if you require a favor, I'm always at your service," he said. Might as well not kill me in the future.
"I'll hold you to that." I won't. "If you'd excuse me, I have some sweets to try out," I said and curtsied before walking back inside. I intended staying outside until it was time to go home, but that stupid mage got in my way.
"Wait," I heard from behind me, I contemplated walking away and acting like I didn't hear anything. "I'm Ryle," he said. I don't care. I turned and smiled before walking away, I went back to get a drink but saw the knight. Nope!
I turned around and headed back outside, but thankfully Ryle was gone. It was nice to finally get some peace and quiet. In the book after dancing with the knight Lily had a long chat with the rich guy in the garden while Rose danced with the prince and fell for him, because of her weak heart that was easy to flutter. The crown prince led her on and dumped her for her sister. Asshole!
I went back inside after spending quality time with myself and went searching for Lily. She was chatting with the Green's daughter, who was a year older.
"Good evening, Lady Batch," I said with a courtesy.
"Oh… Lady Roseanne. I was worried that I wouldn't see you, were you hiding?" She said with a smile that looked like a smug face to me.
Lady Batch Green, she is more of a bitch than Rose ever was. Very annoying and loves looking down on people, she became a villain as well but was sent off somewhere before she could finish her act. Maybe she got married, I don't really care. But one thing is certain, I won't let her bully me, at all.
"Oh, Lady Batch was worried about me? That's so nice of you, especially since there are other things you should be worried about in this party," I said, smiling.
"Other things?" She asked. She's so easy it's almost boring, it should take more than a statement to make her self-conscious.
"I guess the baron is losing his touch…," I said and held my mouth, but still continued. "Oh, I didn't mean what I just said, everyone sees things and keep quiet, but I just have to be straightforward, I'm sorry I guess my hopes were a little bit too high," I smirked and turned to Lily. "Let's go," I said, feeling really good about myself.
"Okay," she said, holding in her laugh. I know her reaction is funny.
"Wait," Batch said, and I turned only to feel a cold liquid over my face and on my dress.
According to the book, Baron Green's over spending made him go broke and to add to that Batch was having an affair with a butler, when word got out it caused an issue for the Green family so they sent Batch out. Also, Batch was caught stealing glances at the butler by none other than Rose, and Rose being the kind-hearted person she would have been told her about it but got bullied by Batch. Rose had considered Rose a friend since they were both villains and minions. She bullied both sisters, a fit I can only call legendary.
Now I'm just spilling nonsense to make her feel self-conscious because of her affair and family's pocket. What do they say? Strike first? Those parts may be miles away, but I need to get the records straight. She's in a worse position than I am. At least I'm the female leads sister, she's just a random extra that didn't even finish the job.
I take pride in my position, thank you very much. Besides, even if I don't say anything Batvh being who she is will find a way to pick on me, and I can't take that
"Lady Batch," Lily said shocked. I am getting more attention than I wanted. "Why would you do that?" Nice, Lily. Leave it to the female lead to say the right words at the right time. Time to play victim.
"Don't worry about it, Lily," I said with an evil smile that would look innocent with this face. "Thank you for your hospitality, Lady Batch," I curtsied and walked out with everyone staring in awe. I felt so cool.
"Here," Lily said, handing me a napkin to wipe my face. Thank goodness I don't wear a lot of makeup, I'd look like a monster if I did. I was wiping my face without paying attention when I slipped on a stair. Here I was feeling cool about my reaction, to end like this is… Embarrassing, but a hand wrapped around my waist and caught me. My prince charming.
