"Hello there, you summoned me, human," a child's voice sounded in my room and I opened my eyes in shock. I was so shocked I couldn't move, I know this is a fictional world but a kid coming out of a ring, really? "Hey, hello? Yo…," the child said.
"I expected a purple muscular genie with a topknot, not… Not a… A baby," I said, disappointed.
"What?" He exclaimed.
"Okay, thanks for coming, you can return to the ring," I said rubbing the ring.
"What are you doing, you rude brat?" He said, looking irritated. Rude brat? If only this kid knew that I was equally irritated.
"Brat? Did you just say brat?" I asked standing up.
"Yes, you are being rude to the great k–" he couldn't finish what he was saying because I grabbed his ear and drew him closer.
"How dare you speak rudely? You are just a kid, and you have the guts, huh? I'll teach you what an angry depressed person can do, you annoying kid," I said with a harsh tone, letting go of his ear as I rolled up the sleeves of my short-sleeved dress. He moved away quickly and curled up in fear as he shook like a kitten, I stopped already feeling bad.
"Hey," I called, but he just flinched and moved back. I reached for him, but he moved away further and fell on the other side of the bed. What a chicken! After shouting at me like some all-powerful kid, he's just an adorable kid. I sighed and started packing the jewelries back into the box.
"I won't hurt you, so come out," I said, keeping the box on the side table.
"Really?" His cute voice sounded from the bedside.
"Yes," I said. "I think we started off on the wrong foot. I'm Roseanne Percando, you can call me Rose. What's your name?" He peeked from the side of the bed, then climbed back up and stood tall.
"Name?"
"Yes name," I replied.
"I don't have a name, I am not a human that needs such mundane things," he said.
"Really? Then what do I call you?" I asked.
"I don't know, just hurry and tell me your wish," he said, sitting down, no longer scared, huh?
"If I do, then what?" I asked him sitting on the bed as well.
"I will grant you your wish, then I'll return to the ring and wait for the next person," he replied with a serious expression that was just too cute and distracting.
The genie had silver white hair with silver eyes, he looked like an angel. He looked around five or six, he was just glowing.
"Why do you have to disappear?" I asked letting myself return to depressed mode. He scanned my expression for a while, then said,
"I'm hungry."
"Do spirits feel hungry?" I asked.
"How dare you? I am not a spirit, don't ever call me that. I am…," he started, but was interrupted by a knock on the door. Millie walked in and said,
"My lady, would you like to have dinner here or with your family?" She totally ignored the genie, he didn't have a name.
"I'd love to have dinner here with my new friend," I said referring to him. She nodded and turned to leave, but I shouted, "Lots of sugar for dessert, as usual"
I turned to look at the genie to ask him a question, but I heard a sniff, he wiped his dry eyes and sniffed again. So dramatic.
"What's wrong?" I asked him, confused.
"You… Human… You brat, I'm not happy at all," he said. I can see that. "Do you mean that?"
"Do I mean, what?"
"Am I really your friend?" He asked.
"I guess?" I reply completely lost.
"That settles it, I will stay with my new friend until she says I should leave, that would be the trigger. If you say, "I wish you would go back to the ring for good" then I'll leave for good. You pass, human," he said, smiling. Okay?
"My name is Roseanne Silver Percando, not human," I said for his information.
"What do I call you?" He asked, looking at me. So cute!
"Rose? Big sis?" I contemplated.
"Silver," he said. "Just like my pretty eyes, I'll call you Silver."
"Don't," I said.
"Why?" He asked looking at me with those pretty eyes, I get why he can say 'pretty eyes' like that.
"You know what? I'll make an exception for you, only you can call me, Silver," I said, falling for his cuteness all over again. I didn't despise it when he called me 'Silver', which was weird because when every other person calls me that it's like a slap to the face.
Millie walked in with the food, I looked up and smiled, fully ready to devour whatever is thrown my way.
"Food is here, eat as much as you want," I said, and he nodded.
At this point Millie's cool headedness is outer worldly. She didn't react or act like there was a random kid in my room. She just acted like he's a part of our daily lives, I really want to see her lose her cool. We sat on a table outside on the balcony.
"Millie, meet my new friend… Eh?" I said, looking at him, then I settled for, "Poppy"
"Poppy?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yes, like the flower poppy, and you remind me of a dog," I explained.
"Don't compare me to a lowly animal as that," he said and I rolled my eyes. "Poppy, isn't that a cute name for someone like me?" His statement made me snicker.
"You are the definition of cute, Poppy," I said, laughing now.
It will be really difficult to stay depressed with this dumb kid around, really. I don't know how he ended up in my room instead of the protagonist's, but I'm happy. Wait, that sounded weird, ended in my room, it sounds funny. I'm happy mother gave the ring to me, now I have Poppy, the cutie.
