We sat down in the restaurant and ordered. It's been a long time since I last hung out with someone in a restaurant, now I feel like going on a date.
"So how did you get the dragon to like you?" Lily asked.
"Well I guess he was just naturally attracted to me to my charms," I said proudly.
"What charms?" Poppy asked. Thank goodness no one could hear him.
"I have a natural charm, you know," I said more to Poppy than Lily. How won't anyone fall for my charms? Take out the scary aspect and I'll be adorable.
"Can I hold him?" Lily asked. He's not a pet but whatever.
"Sure." I was about to hand Poppy over to Lily when a waitress walked over to us and said,
"Umm… Miss, animals aren't allowed in here." She looked so scared, the waitress was young and timid, which made it so obvious that she was doing her superior's dirty work. They sent the youngest so they won't have to face me, if I were to lash out now someone would come and apologize to me and the poor thing would take the blame.
I dropped Poppy on my lap and scanned her, I'd feel bad if I yell at her, but I can't send Poppy out either.
"Why is that?" I asked leaning on one hand as I stared at her with a smile.
"Well, I… Umm…" Is she stuttering because I'm smiling? Gosh, I'm pretty.
"Look, Poppy isn't an animal, I'm sure he feels insulted by your statement," I said plainly.
"Exactly," Poppy concurred, but everyone stared at me like I was saying nonsense.
"Fine," I breathed. "Here," I said giving her some money. "Help me get some clothes for a kid of about five years old." I said the last part with a mocking tone. "Poppy, I guess there's no use staying that way anymore, you'd have to use your tiny legs."
"How dare you speak to me like I'm a kid? How many times do I have to tell you that I'm not a kid, and I'm not tiny?" he shouted.
"You should lash out at a waitress, not me," I said, grabbing and flinging him. I threw him hard enough to hurt and close enough to land near our table. He stood up and looked like he was going to shift, so I stopped him.
"Hey, shameless dragon, wait for some clothes before you start bothering the poor people who just want to enjoy their meals," I said, shaking my head in disbelief.
"You're annoying," Poppy tsked. Lily picked him up and patted him on his head as a form of consolation. "Tell this human girl to stop touching my head," he complained. I guess Poppy don't like Lily, bummer!
"Lily, Poppy don't like that." And you, apparently.
"Oh, sorry," she said and stopped touching his head. Raphael was silently watching the whole time, what's up with that?
"How can you tell what he's thinking? You can't use magic," he said but apologized immediately. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that."
"It's fine, you're right I can't use magic," I said and pointed to Poppy saying, "He'll explain, I would rather not explain anything, it's too much of a hassle." The waitress came back with the clothes and a shoe, how did she know?
"Umm…" she started, but I already knew what she wanted to ask.
"Keep the change for your worries," I said, and she thanked me before leaving. "Poppy, go change so you can explain to this two."
"Your annoying brat," he exclaimed, but I acted like I couldn't hear him. He grabbed the clothes and flew, Lily kept staring at the direction Poppy flew off to until our food was served. Were they waiting for Poppy to leave? I ate a bit and waited for Poppy, he was taking a while.
"Is the food not to your liking?" Raphael asked and I shook my head.
"It's okay, it's just that Poppy is taking too long," I said, but was replied by a kid's voice.
"I'm here." I turned to meet Poppy's irritated gaze.
"Hey, my favorite dragon is here," I said, smiling. I don't want people to see the Percando family with a kid that curse a lot, if not for anyone for the protagonist, not like anyone knows who we are except the people that have been staring at us for an awfully long time.
"You are very annoying," Poppy said, sitting on the high chair I ordered when he left.
"Get explaining," I said, turning to my plate.
"What is there to explain? I'm a dragon, so I can use magic," he said. That was an explanation that cannot be marked out as an explanation, Poppy left out a lot of information out, is there a record for that? It's funny and weird because everyone should grovel at the protagonist's feet.
We finished and went out of the restaurant, I was stuffed. It was pretty nice to hang out in a restaurant again, especially because I wasn't left alone in enemy territory. It would have been nicer if I was wearing trousers with sneakers, and if I could freely laugh and curse at people without a care in the world. I miss Ray and Ronnie, even Luke, I miss my clique a lot. This world is tiring, the rules are annoying, but I'll survive and escape. Maybe I'll be able to ride a dragon, it might be fun. Even though I miss the people I feel comfortable around, I don't know if I can go back, so I'll be content with the ones, I have now: Poppy and Millie.
"Poppy, are you still up for shopping?"
"Okay, but I'm not shifting I'm going to stay like this for a while," he said.
"To exercise your tiny legs?" I thoroughly enjoy annoying this kid. He glared at me and looked away. I'm going to ditch these siblings, I've exhausted my staying around people for one day. I've tried my best, they should be satisfied with the few hours of my presence.
