Chereads / Soulbound: A Transmigrated Tale / Chapter 23 - Feisty Ryle

Chapter 23 - Feisty Ryle

"Sir, we have all the information you need for the mission," Timber said, and I nodded standing up from my seat.

"I'm going out," I said walking out before he could give a response, I teleported to the cave to see my pet, fed it and left.

I went to the main streets looking for something interesting to do because I bored when I saw an old fortuneteller, I approached her out of curiosity. The moment I sat down she gasped dramatically, I couldn't help raising an eyebrow in response.

"Y… you're a powerful person." no way, I thought she was a scam.

"Yes, yes, I'm a mage," I replied, interested.

"Hmm… you seem to have quite the battle before you, you'll have a lot to deal with in the future. But don't worry, you'll…" she paused and scanned me, then continued. "Do you want to hear the rest?" she's a total fraud.

"Yes," I nodded, playing even though I already knew what she was getting at.

"Okay, pay up," the fortuneteller said, and I shook my head knowingly. I always forget to take money with me anytime I'm going out and end up stranded, Timber always comes to find me if I'm gone too long, so I'm not worried. Luckily, I had a bag of coins with me, so I gave it to her, I really wanted to know what she'd say. She opened it greedily and looked inside, her eyes widened in shock, but she schooled her expression and cleared her throat before speaking.

"You'll face a hard decision very soon, when the time comes come and pay me for advice," she said with a serious expression. Is she trying to make me a regular? Of course, I'll face a hard decision, I make hard decisions every day its part of the job.

"Okay, go away," she said, and I scoffed standing up to leave, she just lost a customer.

I was hungry, but I didn't have any money with me, going home to get money would be pointless because I'm not good with placing money. Instead of going home to eat something which seemed like a reasonable option, I choose to continue wandering around. I didn't realize it when I fell asleep by the corner but when I woke up almost all my things had been stolen.

I should have gone home, but I was too hungry to move, so I stayed there. The scent of roses masked my breath and I looked up to see something walk by me, nonchalantly eating. These alleys are dangerous why would anyone follow this place, I was feeling philanthropic, so I decided to stop her? What is the best way to creep out a noble lady and make them change their mind about dark alleys?

"Miss, Miss," I called. "Please help me with a little food, I'm hungry and might die soon," he stated.

"Okay, but I intend tasting everything so would it be okay if we both take a half portion of everything?" she asked. Is this person normal? When a stranger stops you in a dark alley first thing you do is run, it's a good thing that I stopped her.

"You are my savior, I thought I'd get in trouble again," I said smiling, but I really couldn't wrap my head around how we got in this situation.

"Well, I couldn't just leave you to die," she replied. So she's the type that's too nice to the point of being dumb.

"Oh this level of hunger can't kill me, I lied," I said taking my last bite, where did she get this?

"Huh? Then why did I share my..? My precious sweets," she said, pissed. Her reaction was just too funny, why would anyone be this relaxed with a stranger?

"You are a funny one," I couldn't help saying.

"You have guts saying that after deceiving me," she said and took off the hood she was wearing, what is she doing here? "So how did you end up like that?"

"What do you mean?" I asked, feigning innocence.

"You're a noble, right?" she asked, and I almost laughed.

"No, I'm not," I said, well, I just might be at this point. How did she come up with that?

"I see, guess I'm wrong," she said, standing up. I stood up quickly and grabbed her hand, why did I do that?

"Wait," I said hurriedly. "Let me repay your kindness."

"Interesting, what can you do for me?" that's true. She's the Percando family's last daughter she probably got everything she wants with one word. Nobles have a tendency to pamper their last children a lot.

"I can grant you a wish," I said, and it was partly true. She took a step back obviously terrified, she tried to hide it, but it was obvious. "What's wrong?" does she know who I am? We've never met before her coming of age ceremony, and I'm sure she didn't know who it was.

"N… Nothing," she said hastily. "Owing me can be a chore," she tried sounding nonchalant.

"Okay, next time we see tell me your wish," I smiled and finished with," Lady Rose Percando." I had to go because Timber was already looking for me.

I met Rose Percando again at the Green's ball, but she kept trying to avoid me, so I let her be. I left the party early because it was boring and uneventful, and too bright. But a few days later I ran into her, more like to her. She was about to be harassed by a drunk but didn't seem to care, what kind of person acts calm in that kind of situation? I saved her, but she didn't seem impressed, if my eye isn't deceiving, me she looked disappointed. The most shocking of our meeting was that she had a dragon on her head but didn't seem to care. The dragon turned out to be hers, which was also surprising.

A few days later I was bored and decided to see Rose, Anne didn't make sense, and her nice dragon, it wasn't wise but then again foolish decisions are my turf.
