Chereads / Soulbound: A Transmigrated Tale / Chapter 15 - The dragon, Poppy

Chapter 15 - The dragon, Poppy

"Poppy, Poppy," he sang as he ate the dessert Millie brought for us.

"Do you like it?" I asked falling for his cuteness all over again.

"Ich dewicious," he said with a full mouth. Millie cleaned his mouth and said,

"You shouldn't speak with your mouth full." She totally adores him.

"Why?" He asked in amusement. Is this kid teasing Millie? Give up, kid, it never works.

"It's bad table manners," Millie replied with a calm expression. What does it take to fluster this lady?

After dinner, we sat outside looking at the night's view and receiving fresh air.

"How old are you?" I asked, and he turned to look at with a,

"Huh?"

"How old are you," I asked again.

"I don't know, a thousand? Two? I'm not sure, I've never really cared," he said. I figured he'd be old but not that old.

"Should I start using honorifics?" I asked jokingly.

"That's why I called you a brat," he said, and I rolled my eyes.

"You may be old, but you still look like a kid," I accused.

"This brat," he exclaimed and I scoffed.

"So if you're not a spirit, what are you?" I asked changing the topic.

"I'm a dragon," he replied yawning. I coughed as I choked on nothing.

"A… A dragon?" I asked just to be sure.

"Yeah, a dragon," he said relaxing more. That's not something you say nonchalantly, it's so unexpected.

"I didn't expect to meet a dragon." A cute one at that. "So if you transform will you become big?"

"Yes, but I can't for now because of the seal," he said. "I'm really strong, you know, that's why I felt insulted when you were being rude." I wasn't.

"How did a dragon end up in a ring?" I asked curiously. His expression changed as he looked away. I think I touched a soft spot. "You don't have to answer," I said feeling bad. Even I have soft spots I don't want anyone to touch, so I shouldn't pry.

"No, it's fine. You're my friend, right? I should tell you, let's have a little honesty here," he said with a smile. So cute and distracting, I couldn't help but blush. "The truth is I was sealed… By a friend," he said his expression darkening.

"A friend? But why?" I asked.

"Well, my friend sealed me because of a fight, I was blamed for destroying something then cursed and bound to the ring," he explained.

"How do you break it?" I asked feeling sorry for him.

"Well, there's a key, but my friend has it, so I'm stuck. Don't mind my weird obsession with this friend thing, it was just ironic since everyone I've met so far just wanted to take something from me like I was cursed to experience," he explained. How powerful is this friend? Is the person a dragon too?

"Well you can trust this friend," I said proudly.

"You say it like it's an easy thing," he said jumping down from his chair. He went back inside and I followed him. I lied on the bed and watched him pace around.

"I'm bored," he said stopping to look at me.

"I want to sleep," I replied.

"Oh yeah?" He said disappointed.

"Can you transform?" I asked sitting up.

"Yes," he replied.

"Will you be very tiny?" I asked.

"No," he replied, and it happened so fast. His hands were replaced with wings that came out of his back, his legs were also gone replaced by clawed feet, the shape of his head changed as well. I was at a loss of words, I couldn't move or react, I could only manage a,

"Wow." A real dragon was in front of me, small but still a dragon. He flew and landed on my lap with his silver eyes staring at me. I scanned his body in awe, it was all white, white scales, wings, everything was white.

"How pretty," I said absentmindedly.

"I can't turn to my normal size because of the seal," I heard inside in my head. Huh?

"Wait, you just spoke in my head," I said, surprised. And as fast as it happened the first time he turned back to his human form.

"I can't speak when I'm in my dragon form, so I used forced telepathy," he said getting comfortable on my bed. This shameless dragon. "But there's a catch, I can't do it with more than one person because the seal limits my abilities," he said. You could do it with more than one person before?

"I see," I said yawning as I lied down looking at the ceiling. "You'll have to transform to your dragon form anytime someone comes here, or you go out," I informed.

"But that human already saw me," he said.

"Millie can be trusted to keep our secret," I explained.

"Okay," he said covering himself with the blanket. This shameless dragon.

"Anyone apart from Millie can't be trusted, especially my family," I said closing my eyes.

I couldn't sleep because my head was flooding with thoughts again, at this rate I might lose weight.

"Are you asleep?" I asked.

"No," Poppy responded.

"You really aren't a gentle man," I mocked. "You didn't even offer to take the couch or the floor"

"I love my comfort, and there's no chance of you being uncomfortable around me because you see me as a kid," he informed me.

"Right back at you," I said.

"That's true"

"That's true," I replied giggling. It feels good to not be alone all the time, huh?

"If you think too much before you sleep you'd have a nightmare," he said, and I felt something climb my stomach and curl up. I peeped at Poppy who was in his dragon form and had found a comfortable spot on my stomach. This dragon…

"I'm not a bed," I said.

"I'm comfortable here," he said without trying to move.

"You'll pay for rent," I informed him.

"You'll pay for my presence," he retorted.

"Are you some kind of important figure or something?" I asked laughing.

"Stop moving, you're disturbing me," he said, and I scoffed in disbelief.
