Mother. I just realized that it's an important factor in life, when someone is always there you tend to take them for granted, but it's different when they're gone, and in my case there's no way to reach them.
I felt like crying when I hugged Carmel, some things are best left as unknowns. The burden of being Roseanne came crashing on me, especially the fact that I'm stuck. If anyone were to ask me what happened I can't give them an exact answer. The knowledge of the future made me sad, if I'm still stuck here in a few months, will I have to watch her die?
I calmed down after a while and sat up breaking out of the hug. She didn't pry, at all. She just smiled like she knew what was going on in my mind and said,
"I have a gift for you." I sniffed and asked,
"What is it?" She pointed her dressing table, I turned and looked at it. There was a small box on the table, I stood up and walked to it and picked the box. I scanned it for a while before opening it, there was a red rose necklace and earrings inside with a plain gold ring. Gold. I turned and smiled at her forgetting my hatred for roses.
"Thank you," I whispered.
"The ring is said to bring good luck to its owner. It can grant you your wishes," she says.
"Then you should use it," I reply.
"Only if it chooses you," she replied with a smile. It will obviously pick the protagonist, but I didn't see any ring in the book. This reminds me of a fairy tale of a magical kettle, or was it a pot. I put everything in the box and dropped it back on the table.
I sat beside her and we started chatting. It was nice, and felt like it was a normal thing that I've been doing for a long time. I couldn't shake off the sadness I felt in my heart. I told her about my ghost experience, and she said it might be magic that the person used to teleport, at least that made sense. I felt so weird, especially since I've been here for only a week, and we still had a lot to talk about.
I complained about Lady Nort and her strict lessons, which made her laugh. I also complained about my inability to dance and turns out it's her fault, you should have been diligent so that your daughter won't be the description of a terrible dancer. Talking to her made me really ease, especially in this place that is so suffocating, I understand why she was Rose's backstory.
By noon, I left and decided to have a long beauty sleep to compensate for a week of that evil Lady Nort. The moment my head hit the pillow I fell asleep, I intend planning on how to get fat when I wake up.
I woke up feeling a lot better. I stretched a little and stood up reaching for the bell, I rang it and Millie came running in. So handy!
"What time is it?" I whispered.
"My lady you slept for so long we thought you were I'll," Millie said looking worried. "It's morning already."
"Huh? Does that mean I didn't eat yesterday?" I shouted feeling disappointed.
"Y… Yes?" Millie replied confused.
"How will I get fat like this?" I collapsed on the floor feeling sad. "Millie," I shouted when I got a great idea.
"Yes?" She responded, not sure of what to make of my unstable attitude.
"I need to go out," I said looking at her.
"Okay, should I prepare a carriage and guards to accompany us?" she said, forcing me to stand up as she walked me to the bath which was prepared by some other maids during my tantrum.
"No, just a carriage, and there's no us I'm going alone," I said smiling at her.
"I can't allow that, my lady. It could be dangerous out there alone."
"Not if my identity is unknown," I countered.
"Fine, but I'll go with you," she retorted.
"No," I said firmly.
"Your father won't be pleased." I let out a laugh, and she looked down regretting her words.
"I. Don't. Care," I say to her. Luckily, she was the only one in the room or those gossiping maids would spread fake rumors, I've given them enough to talk about for one morning.
"Fine, do what you want. I don't even know why I bother," she said with an exhausted sigh.
"Oh, I need cash," I said.
"C… Cash?" She looked confused.
"I mean, I require some money from my stash, you know," I smiled.
"Oh… You have some money in your emergency box, or is that not enough?" She said. I have an emergency box, oh the life of a rich girl. Squander money and still have enough for later. I could barely fend for myself when I first moved out of my mom's house, apart from performing with Ronnie I had to take a part-time job to get by, that was until I sold off my pride.
I let my hair fly free with no makeup and a very casual dress that still looked flamboyant. It's still obvious that I'm a noble, but I'll have to make do.
"Hey, Millie. How much have I saved?" I asked just out of curiosity.
"I don't know, you can ask Mr. Bankers when we go back to the territory," she replied. Pfft! Bankers. "You left your money with him, but I don't know what you've been saving for but all your wealth is with him. It should be about…," I felt like passing out on hearing the amount. The money problems were really solved, I'm rich. I'm so grateful to Rose right now, if I see her, I'd kiss her feet. Woah! If I'm that rich and still have enough for an emergency box, then I'm like a millionaire or so. I have gold, silver, I have them all. The benefits of being a rich girl, I am set for my travels as is. I do need to know where I am and where I can go, but that can wait because I'm rich.
