Chapter 16 - Heard

A little while after Zion and Rivar left their apartment, they arrived at the front gate of the city, where they saw the young assistant of the one who hired them, was already there, waiting for them.

They approached him and the young man looked at them, then smiled before greeting them and they did the same.

"Uh... There are supposed to be others right?" Rivar asked and the boy chuckled, then nodded and Rivar looked around.

"Why are they not here or is it that we are too early?" Zion asked and he sighed then looked at the time.

"No, you are not too early, you guys are right on time, the other party members are just a little late, we don't even have much time to waste, also another thing I wanted to share with you guys," He responded.

"So they are late, well that's fine, we will just wait for them to arrive, what is it that you wanted to share with us?" Zion asked and the guy sighed as he looked at them.

Rivar's brows furrowed, seeing that he was a bit nervous and they exchanged glances, wondering what was bothering him.

"Well, I got a few updates about this dungeon that you will all be heading to," He responded.

"Is something wrong?" Rivar asked.

"Yeah, that dungeon is for any type of rank, at least at the very start, the dungeon is one that is lower than the others, with fewer floors, but despite that, I have been hearing rumors," He responded and Zion's eyes narrowed.

"What is it?" Zion asked.

"It is more dangerous than people think, some of them would think I am deliberately scaring you but I am only saying what I heard from others within the guild, some say that it's just bad news, similar to one floor in a higher dungeon," He responded.

Just as he was about to say something else, a guy approached him and wrapped his right arm around his shoulder and the young man glanced at him then he sighed.

Zion looked at the guy and saw that a few more were approaching them and when he saw the way they were dressed, he saw that all of them had badges, which came from a guild and Zion's brows furrowed.

"What are you telling them? From what I have heard, the ones that will be joining us are newbies, which I take it are these two, don't go spreading things in their heads," He said and the boy moved his hand off of him and the guy sighed then looked at Zion.

"You guys are the new ones right?" He asked and Rivar nodded then the guy smiled at him.

"Good, I will give you guys some tips, also don't listen to what he is saying, there are just rumors, we don't know for sure but we can be alert, anything is possible in these places, but the chances of what you find in a higher level dungeon in this one are low," The guy said and Zion's eyes narrowed.

"Thanks for the advice, we will be careful, after all, you never know what can happen in these places, right?" Zion asked and the guy scoffed then nodded.

"Well, nice to meet you, my name is Nicolas," He said as he brought forth his hand then Zion shook it.

"I am Zion," He replied then released the guy's hand.

Nicolas was a tall person with a slightly built body, he was fair, had brown eyes and short brown hair and seemed to be quite young as well.

"So, you guys all made it here, that's nice," The one who hired them said as he approached them and Zion glanced at him, wondering whether he knew anything about what the young man said to them then he sighed.

"Now, before I get started with anything, do you guys have any questions or so on? You can ask now before you leave," He said and they exchanged glances.

"Nothing from this side but is there anything you want to tell us?" Rivar asked and the guy looked at him then his brows furrowed and he shook his head no.

Rivar looked at the boy working for him and he lowered his head a little then Rivar exhaled deeply and Zion scoffed.

"Well, how many floors do you want us to clear?" Nicolas asked and the man glanced at him.

"As many as you can, also there will be others there so take what you can and don't let anyone bully you if you had it first and no unnecessary fights, especially among yourselves, am I clear?" He asked and Nicolas chuckled as he looked at him.

"That's not something that you need to worry about, we are not stupid, we won't fight among ourselves, we will get the job done and return as fast as possible, shouldn't take more than a few days," Nicolas responded and the man nodded.

"Now, this is your party, so the leader of this team is you, you will all follow him, he has a little more experience as well, that's all, does anyone have a problem?" He asked.

Everyone looked at each other and Zion sighed since he knew that many things could happen in the dungeon and also knew that the young man could be right about the rumors that he heard, since things like that had happened before.

"Nope, doesn't seem like anyone has a problem with anything, now the dungeon is not that far from here, we have to get going, it's getting late," Nicolas responded and the guy sighed then nodded.

"Well, this will get you there," The guy said as a fairly decent carriage approached them.

The members that were there smiled and they thanked the guy for getting that for them, since he didn't have to and he smiled at them.

"Now, get going and good luck, you will need it, there are going to be others, remember, Zion?" The man asked as everyone got into the carriage.

Zion glanced at him and he smirked then nodded and he got into the carriage as well then they took off, heading to the dungeon, where a few of the unexpected was indeed waiting for them.

For this was the beginning of the path, leading to that which Zion wanted and he intended to clear the dungeon and this time, take what he deserved.
