Chapter 14 - Got it, to about to begin

After Zion and Rivar went to see the receptionist, concerning their card, at her booth, she smiled when she saw them approaching her and even though the line ahead of them was long, she called them aside, making a few people look at them with piercing stares and Rivar smiled nervously as he looked at them and the receptionist scoffed.

"Just ignore them, a lot of them are like that, I am not the one who told them to rush things and even mess up their forms, some are here to rectify a few things, it's very much irritating," She said and Rivar chuckled.

"You have it tough, well, in these kinds of jobs, you are bound to run into these types of people," Rivar replied and the girl smiled at him then nodded.

"Yeah, you are right about that, it's expected, you have to deal with really hard-headed people, some no matter how much you try and explain, it just doesn't sink in their heads for some reason, I feel like just sending some of them bloody flying," She said with an irritated look on her face.

The two exchanged glances then returned their attention to her, seeing that she was clearly irritated with the situation they had to deal with and Zion exhaled deeply.

"I see, well from the way you are right now, I think you need a break from work or something like that," Zion replied and Rivar wanted to laugh but held back and turned a different direction instead and Zion saw then scoffed.

"Yeah, you are right, I should take a break, these dungeons are some of the reasons as well, ugh," She said as they stared at him and Rivar held back even harder from laughing and Zion patted him on his shoulder.

The boy put on a serious face and looked at the receptionist, who opened her book then she sighed and looked at them.

"So you guys are here for your cards and full confirmation right?" She asked.

"Yeah," Zion responded.

"Got it, well from the information I got after you took your tests yesterday, I am to send both of you to the one that was in charge of Zion's test, Liam, he asked for this," She said and Rivar glanced at Zion.

"I see, then can you please tell us where he is so that we can get a move on, we have a lot to do and prepare for?" Zion asked and the girl smiled at him.

"Yeah, follow me," She responded as she walked away and both of them followed her.

After a few minutes, they arrived at the same testing room Zion took his test in and the girl knocked on the door and at the same time, someone approached them from behind.

"You guys made it," The person said and when they turned around, they saw that it was Liam and he smiled at them as the receptionist glared at him and his eyes narrowed.

"You can go, stop looking at people like that, you might scare them away," He said and she flinched then apologized before wishing the two good luck and leaving then Rivar laughed and Liam chuckled.

"Some of them can get a bit on edge, certain people stress them out, I am going to give you guys your card, also, Zion did you really challenge the ones from this morning?" Liam asked and Rivar began clearing his throat.

"If our throat is aching, want me to help you clear it up?" Zion asked and Rivar flinched then shook his head no and Liam chuckled.

"Here is your card, Rivar, you are officially an adventurer," Liam said as he handed Rivar his card and he collected it with a bright smile then thanked Liam and the guy smiled at him.

"Now, Zion, you are going to receive your card but since your test was sort of simple, basically you can become a hunter as long as you are  good enough to defend yourself, you will however have to do things to go up in the rankings, do you understand that it is going to be hard to rise up if that's what you want?" Liam asked and Zion's eyes narrowed as he looked at him.

"Yeah, I understand very well, it's going to be based on how well I perform and what I do right? That's what you guys are doing to the hunters and if one is stuck at one rank for a very long time, say the lowest then what you are saying is that he or she should just quit? You guys test us like this so that you will know whether we have a chance at becoming a good hunter or not, which is why you have us fight reasonable opponents, defense is one of the mains?" Zion asked.

Liam left staring at Zion, since he sounded as though he knew how everything with hunters worked and Liam's eyes narrowed as he looked carefully at the young man.

"You speak as though you have experience when these things are concerned, did some of the seniors within the guild talk to you about this already?" Liam asked and a smirk appeared on Zion's face.

"Well, maybe you can say that, isn't it good that I know from beforehand?" He asked and Rivar glanced at him, knowing that this was not the first time Zion spoke like that, as though he had personally experienced certain things.

"Yeah, it is, here, your card is a bit different due to the type of job you chose, also even as a hunter, it's best to go into a dungeon with a party," Liam responded and Zion looked at him and then smiled a little.

"I will keep that in mind, we are preparing to go into a dungeon now as well," He said and Liam sighed.

"I see, that dungeon, it's dangerous, if you guys are strong enough, you will return fine, it's not even one of the most dangerous as yet but still, dangerous, be careful and good luck," Liam replied.

Both of the boys thanked Liam, knowing that he was only looking out for the newbies.

"Let's get this started, we need to prepare to leave now," Zion said and Rivar nodded as they headed to the one who hired them, to prepare to leave for the dungeon, which was awaiting them,

Little did Zion figured that a lot more were about to change in his life, things that would help him get started on taking that which was his to take and begin walking on the path, leading to power, one that reeked of destruction and was stained with darkness.
