Chapter 1 - New Chance!

Life wasn't fair for many people. Now and then, a long toll is recorded, lives lost to fights and wars all around. The evolution of mankind changed the balance of the universe.

Humans, Superhumans, which could be regarded humane? The disaster caused by extraordinary genes is no small talk to cast by the side like it didn't matter at all.

But it is the world we live in now. Alien races, advanced technology,... What can a mere mortal like me do to change fate, if I can't even dictate my own fate.

In this cruel universe lives only the prey and the predator. The prey are sinners for being weak, while the predators are considered righteous as they slaughter us to keep balance.

Beep! Beep! Beep! ...

Sound of beeping medical electronic equipments could be heard clearly in an enclosed space, with three people dressed in medical operation uniforms and their faces hidden behind masks as they operate on a young boy laying on the bed.

"Doctor, specimen 12009 is responding well to the HPM serum. Project vermin might turn out successful this time." One of the scientists with short blond hair voiced with joy after performing a check up on their test subject.

"I think so Colleague. It's going to be nice finishing a lost project like this one." The other male doctor replied with a bigger smile as he walks to the computer at the eastern corner of the room.

"Initiate Vermin attraction. Induce full scale hexano lithenio photonic effect." The female scientist gave the order to the other, which didn't take long before it begun.

"Ahhh! Ahh! Arghh!"

The test subject reacted to the procedure quite faster than normal as it shriveled in agony on the bed before it stopped a while after. The three scientists were stunned by the incident.

"Did it really work Doctor? I'm not sure but I believe it did work out." The quiet female scientist finally said something to vreak the silence.

"I can't really say though. We will have to wait until it wakes up. Even if it fails, there's nothing to worry about. It's just a useless quadriplegic orphan." The Doctor said before exiting the room with beads of sweat on his forehead.

The test subject was transported to a new facility for fast recovery after the surgery. It wasn't any ordinaty facility, but an underground base.

Time ticked faster, and he finally woke up after a day and half. "Grhhh! my head hurts so bad right now. I nee... uh!"

He couldn't conplete his statement because he realised somethimg new in him. "M...My limbs, they are working. I can feel them all. My body is energized."

He wanted to jump off the bed and soar like a free bird in the sky when he noticed something obstructing his vision. "What are all these? I'm I really dreaming right now?"

These were text written in bright red color with a crimson color background. It was so dreamlike and illusory to believe.

These characters scared hell out of his thoughts immediately. The characters continued to change again and again until it formed another sentence.

"It feels real. I got a little better after that text. Is this reward for my patience? or....I'm in this fucking lab again!"

He felt crestfallen again by the thought of being imprisoned in this familiar white room he was locked in for weeks.

A new page opened in this weird thing obstructing part of his view. It was like an homepage of a website. Like a system interface with navigation buttons.

"It looks exactly like those VR game interface. It's cool, maybe to while away time until I die. Sighs. Let me check my stats if they really exists one." He focused his sight on the button before a pop up display appeared in vision.
