A young man was sitting on a couch, his posture laid back as his hands hold a book. He was dressed simply, yet the clothes hanging on his stature were expensive, elegant, and fit perfectly on him. The cup of tea still steaming on his side. His eyes droop as he reads the last sentence of the paragraph as he was engrossed in the knowledge he picks up.
Face carved perfectly, as if he was the perfect creature God had crafted, lips pinkish and kissable, eyes dark as the night sky, and his hair is fluffy black like ink sitting on top of his head.
This is Lucas Allard. The youngest son of the Allard Family. Allard Family, a well-known household internationally and locally. With multi- corporation business around the world and military power in their hands, they are one of the richest and prominent clan.
Lucas, an heir on the throne, was undisturbed by his family's reputation. He could do anything he wants when he became an adult since his older siblings will take care of everything in the family. They will be the ones who would shoulder all the responsibilities, though one might think it is unfair. However, it really is not. His siblings took the challenge and both of them loved it.
The loud push of the door made Lucas' concentration break. His lips form into a straight line and annoyance becoming evident on his face.
Soon, laughter filled the room. Lucas cranes his head in the direction of the sound. Glare as sharp as a knife.
"Brother, your glare is not cute." The sweetest voice you could hear commented.
Lucas rolls his eyes at her, ignoring the person walking towards him. The clinking of the heels resounded, resulting in Lucas' eyes twitching further with undisguised irritation.
"What do you need from me?" Lucas questions.
"Is that how you greet your sister after months of not seeing each other?" Lily asks, her hand clutching the cloth on top of her chest, eyes welling up with tears.
Lucas sighs.
He places the book on the table, smoothens his clothes and stares at his sister sitting in front of him. His stony face softens, yet the words he uttered next are the opposite of his expression.
"Stop being so dramatic."
"Ha! Your body says otherwise." Lily sticks her tongue out playfully.
Ah well, Lucas is a tsundere.
Lily mischievously comes forward, drilling beside Lucas. She slung her arm around Lucas' neck and ruffles the kempt hair. Lucas scrunches his nose.
"Sis, stop it will you?''
"No, I miss my baby brother so much." Lily replies, pinching the cheeks of his brother.
Lucas deadpans, letting her do what she wanted. He could not stop her, even though he wanted to evade the assault because...
He misses her, too.
Lily is his older sister. The second daughter of the family. She graduated with flying colours. Men of the same age as her wanted to be with her. Alas, the family is protectively guarding her from the wolves. Only the person approved by them could be with her. Good thing his sister is not interested in men. The only thing she focuses on is.... generating money.
There were multiple men vying her love yet, they could not thaw the ice surrounding her heart. Her warms eyes and affection were only for her family.
He begins to feel the pain from his cheeks.
"Sis... could you let go now? It hurts." Lucas complains hoping for her sister to let go.
"Say the magic word." She replies sweetly, not having thoughts of removing her hands on him.
Lucas sighs in surrender and says in a pleading tone, "Please."
"Good." Lily lets go, satisfied hearing the magic word.
Lucas rubs his red cheeks to soothe the pain. He hopes it was not that red like a tomato.
"Where is older brother?"
"Oh him? He is still in X country. It will take a while before he could go home." Lily informs standing up.
"Oh." Is his only reply.
"If there is nothing else, I'll be in my room to sleep."
"That will be great. There will be no fly buzzing around me." He snarkily remarks.
Lily made a face not affected by his words and a hearty laugh spilling from her lips. She went out from the library. Her hand waving in goodbye as she closes door with a soft click.
After listening to the footsteps going farther and farther until no noise could be heard, he shakes his head. A small smile crept on his face. If anyone in school would see his expression, everyone will be surprise because the ice prince actually smiles?
Ah, his reputation in school is quite different from his home.
Lucas' reputation in school is different. While he could do anything in the house with no thought whatsoever, school is somewhat a bit distinct.
Well, of course, in home, he is comfortable with the people around him. He can do anything he likes without facing the judgement of eyes. In the house, he could move freely.
He can be snarky as he wants, be spoiled, act cute, throw a tantrum though only a minimal, make his family laugh and just being his real self. His heart is settled with them.
His attitude is so unlike in the academy.
Since being born in a wealthy family, at such a young age, he can distinguish those people who are sincere and envious of him.
The fake smiles, fake gratitude, and fake connection, it left a bad taste in his mouth. He could not tolerate such things especially when he treated people with humbleness and respect.
Was it his fault being born like this? Of course not.
Therefore, he earned the reputation "Ice Prince" which he did not mind.
Luckily, he has the resting bitch face courtesy of his father who has it also.
With this, he did not struggle having to form superficial relationships. He do not have to attend any social events except if it is related to his family, he needed to attend.
He do not seek any friends whatsoever who is only friends with him because of his status. Lucas does not even gets lonely at being alone most of the time.
Why?
Because he knows, there are people who loves and cares for him without any malice in their hearts. Treats and showers him with affection and love.
He does not need those kind of things. Lucas is content with what he has.
Besides, being dubbed as the ice prince is not bad after all. Three siblings in the family had also been dubbed with that name in the academy because of their stone cold faces.
Many can tell, it really runs in the blood.
Lucas brushes away the strands of his hair blocking his view. He tilts his head trying to remember something.
"I think I forgot a task to accomplish ." He mutters under his breathe.
His forehead scrunches in contemplation. Mind replaying back with the things he needed to do.
Did he finish his research outline?
He did.
Did he finish working on his assignments? He did.
Did he finish working on a set of problems?
He did.
Then... what else does he needed to do?
After a while, his face lights up remembering the task. He snaps his fingers.
"Right, the journal and the permit."
"Silly me. Almost forgot." He chuckles as he shakes his head.
He stands up stretching his arms, to warm up the stiff muscles from the long hours of reading in the same position.
Lucas then marches to his room.
-
Back in his room, he sits down. A permit and a journal laying on top of the table.
He stares at the things before grabbing the journal one.
He opens the page and pulled out a pen from his drawer to begin writing his daily reflection which needed to be passed at the end of a quarter.
Quite funny, their teacher had asked if after everything, will they write a journal even it is not required?
Lucas' answer is a shake of his head.
No, after all the requirements are done. He will leave it behind.
He spins the pen on his hand around, lost in thought when a ring on his phone breaks his daze.
Lucas blinks.
The incoming call keeps on ringing frankly awaiting for him to answer.
The menace in him stares right through his phone, watching it with interest knowing the caller is suffering from torment.
After a few minutes, deciding it was enough, he picked it up and what greeted him was a loud silence from the other side.
Lucas waits, he hears the other breathing through his nose and a faint sound of music from the background, he did not want to open his mouth to speak.
He was too lazy for that.
Finally, the other side could not take it anymore, the person sighs before speaking.
"Why did you let it ring for a long time?" The voice asks resentfully.
"Ah, you know I don't like answering incoming calls." Lucas states nonchantly.
