Chapter 9 - Meeting (2)

Lucas woke up with a start.

Having the feeling of his body falling down from a high cliff is not a fun experience. Especially when you fall down face flat, your limbs break as you crash down without prior warning. Not fun at all walking on the fluffy cloud.

He slowly blinks, long lashes flutter; forcing himself to dissect from the dream he just had. The mind is still in the state of the pipe dream, the drowsiness not leaving his body yet.

The clock hand is almost striking seven in the morning. Left with no choice, he elbows his seatmate.

Owen tilts his body to face him, a questioning look emerging. He focuses his attention towards Lucas.

Lucas offers his arm and says blankly, a tinge of sleepiness dripping on his voice.

''Pinch me for a second.''

Owen cracks out a smile. A glint of mischief is apparent. He rubs his hand in anticipation and replies back after a few seconds without a second thought.

''Don't mind if I do."

With that. Lucas regrets.

A grudge holder Owen is not fun to be friends with. Lucas advises.

''Why do you have to pinch me that damn hard?'' Lucas complains, wearing down the red spot blemish on his skin.

Owen laughs.

''You told me to pinch you. Pardon me if I could not control my strength.''

Lucas' hand reaches out. Caressing the exposed neck of his friend. Just one graze down, Lucas perceives the hairs rising.

This time, it is his turn to chuckle.

And then, he seizes hold the back neck ensuing a howl of begging from him. Lucas clutches as much as possible, not planning to budge even slightly. Determination swallows him whole, wanting Owen to taste the consequences of his actions while the half- crying and half-laughing Owen is struggling.

He lets go for a few minutes when satisfaction fills him up. Owen lays down on his desk, half- dead to the world because of too much emotional stimulation. His state muddled.

Lucas pushes his chair backward quietly. His surroundings not taking note of his presence. He stealthily makes his way out of the classroom. A quick look at his wristwatch, he saunters hands in his pockets.

Soft tune of music flowing, filling the clamorous corridors.

His posture was like this, dodging and making sure he will not collide with any co-students who currently have two different sets of uniform as of now.

Lucas let his feet go aimlessly until he reaches the usual spot he goes to before having their flag ceremony.

The wide grassy field with trees surrounding the area. Bushes and smallish stoned chairs out there filling the side. More like a miniature version of the city park. Lucas still prefers the latter one.

The enormous tree- his spot- shades the rays coming from the sun. Fresh breeze grazes his skin, comforting the sticky feeling of heat in his skin. Before he enjoys this moment, an utterly disgrace of a human distorts his peace.

Snore. Someone was snoring. Lucas takes note.

He did not see anyone here. Only him is present right now. Though, his confusion soon resolved when he looked above him. On the branch, he sees someone sleeping. Different designs of uniform hugging his body.

Adhering to one of his principles: No involvement, not his business.

Lucas figures out to leave lest the student woke up when an unexpected situation he could not get out locks him in. Sealing his fate on a roller coaster of emotions embedded in his life onwards.

Adrian receives the most embarrassing point in his seventeen years of existence.

The reason for this is, he was having the best time in his dream when, across his vision, to his astonishment, receives a shock of a figure. The figure was a child. A smaller version of him and then another child who he did not know of. They were holding hands though the other child was shrouded with clouds obstructing his view.

He tries to look more since this has been going on for a while. It might be this, his dream self and real self coincide that he forgets he was not in his bed. But on a tree, inches away from falling down.

From his view, another person had entered his line of sight, scaring out of his wits.

''Student! You should not be here. This is trespassing!" He exclaims failing to recall he is not in his usual campus.

His mind not dissociating from the dream yet stemming a questionable remark spilling out the lips.

Lucas hears the nonsense spilling from the stranger. Burts of annoyance take place. He cranes his neck, to see more of the student. Swiftly taking a scan of his body, a sneer surfaces.

Arms cross, he let out a snicker.

''Fellow student, I think you are forgetting something. This is a violation of the school rules in this institution.''

Adrian has not given time to snap back when unexpectedly he shifts towards a wrong position provoking his fall.

Lucas, as a reflex, spread his arms open to catch the fellow falling from the branch.

Loud screams came out from Adrian as he closed his eyes, waiting for the impact of his fall when only strong arms had caught him. His heart was racing.

Adrian flutters his eyes just in time to see the long lashes of this fellow schoolmate. A prominent nose. Orbs filled with panic however, the facial expression says otherwise. Painted with annoyance.

Line of thought from what he had read in the book came into light.

Eyes are the windows to the soul.

Adrian sees through this young lad's soul even only a glimpse of a hole.

''Do you want me carry you to the flag ceremony area?'' Lucas sarcastically questions. His personality gleaming shattering the book dream of a thousand girls.

Adrian woke up from this dream-like moment. And is that flowers and stars imprinted beside this who knows what?

''Put me down.'' Adrian demands.

Lucas' left eyelid twitches. Unexpectedly, he did not receive gratitude instead a demand.

Ha.

Lucas made up his mind.
