He felt that he was slowly seeing the particles, but it could be his hallucination from this near death experience. Nevertheless, he continued searching forward. Even a false hope could be considered as hope.
He saw a larger particle in front of him. It was a shiny transparent fuzzy ball. It looked mushy amidst its shiny countenance, he knew it was because of impurities. It was so small that one would not see it if not looking closely. The only reason Sho saw it was because he was looking for it. He didn't think twice. As he reached the location of the tiny ball, he grabbed it and used his Qi Waygate on his palm to absorb the energy.
He knew he needed to purify the energy but also knew he couldn't do so at the moment. He was risking all with death looming over him!
He felt instant relief when the energy ball that he grabbed started running through his Qi veins. It was the same feeling when he was gathering energy earlier.
He knew he was successful in being able to grab energy. He actually wondered why he didn't feel anything negative from absorbing impure energy. However, now was not the time to hesitate or be distracted.
He needed more energy! It was simply not enough.
That tiny ball wouldn't help him with the way he was running and dodging. He was also using the energy to stop his bleeding.
Just defending made him consume more energy compared to the insane man chasing him.
Although he didn't have any more potion in his veins, the familiar feeling of using energy to close his wounds made him do it almost unconsciously. But that didn't mean he was really healing. It was like he asked his platelets to block the wound for now, they weren't really fixing it, it was just a band aid fix. The moment he ran out of energy, the wound would open once more. And with the many wounds he had received, he would surely die even with the mutation brought by the System.
*More… I need more!* He felt greedy for the energy. But who could blame him? He wanted to survive. He didn't want to succumb to fate. He would fight for his life. He was like a drowning man swimming to the shore.
Sho's focus heightened. He was only focused on any light fuzz like he saw earlier. Because he now knows what they look like. He kept looking forward even when he was dodging the constant harassment of the man. He knew that there was more to it in the air. But only a few were visible for him. But it was fine. Those were his life lines. Seeing the bits of few lights scattered in the air, he had created a path forward.
He weaved in the forest, almost ignoring the man even when he was dodging. It felt so natural for him to dodge him even when he wasn't looking. He grabbed a bit of energy as he moved forward.
"What are you doing?!" The man seemed confused, he was clearly seeing that the more Sho grabbed something in the air, the more he didn't look tired at all. He was beginning to think that the enemy in front was something not ordinary at all. He didn't dare underestimate the one he was chasing anymore. He used his speed to catch up with Sho.
Sho was too focused on the light at this point and when the man suddenly sped, he wasn't able to dodge. A severe slice of his meat downed him in the next second. He cried in pain but was able to retaliate and kick the man away. He made sure to kick him towards where his acceleration was going. Because of two same forces applying towards the man–his own and Sho's kick–the man accelerated past Sho. Sho successfully created a huge distance between them catching the man off guard.
After kicking the man, Sho didn't stop running whilst in pain. He was too confused at the sudden stop of light fuzz in front of him.
As if it was just suddenly cut off. It was too out of place.
Ignoring the pain and trying to stop the bleeding of his huge wound, he scope the area upfront. He noticed it was really cut off. He realized what it was. His heartbeat that was already beating fast became more prominent.
He had a guess, but he didn't know if it was right.
Determined, he ran towards the area where the energy got cut off, he slowed down when he was nearing the area, but he didn't cross. He suddenly faced the man. The man who was raging after being caught off guard and getting thrown away from Sho was confused by Sho's action.
"You're done running? But you're too wounded to even fight. You can barely pass as alive." He snickered with fury yet he was alert.
"It's fine. Everything between us will be over soon." Sho said with certainty.
The man in front of him grinned. "I usually don't like knowing people who I am. And I don't like people knowing who they are. But you are great. You kept me entertained long enough. What is your name?"
Sho was surprised with the question. He frowned. "Why should I introduce myself to someone who I don't even know." *And someone who has been trying to kill me? Who in their right mind would give their identity to a serial killer? Who in their right mind would give their address to some psychopath? Although all I did was court death since I came to this world, I refuse to invite stalkers for myself!*
"It's fine if you don't want to say your name. Just remember the name of the one who would kill you. Es'Ever at your service."
Sho was somewhat confused. He never heard of that kind of name. In Sho's memory that name doesn't sound familiar. Was it a foreign name? But he pushed that at the back of his mind.
"Glad to know." He still didn't say his name. Instead, he summoned his Soul Crusher.
After looking at Sho for some second and him not saying his name. The man shook his shoulders and continued his assault. But this time, Sho was facing Es'Ever. He was actually surprised how easier for him to dodge even though he was wounded.
*Did my senses heightened?*
But again, he just threw that question in the back of his mind and focused on the enemy in front.
He danced around as he moved closer to the boundary where the light got cut off. When he was sure to get hit, he deflected the hit with his weapon.
He was waiting for a chance.
Patiently.
He knew that even if he strike Es'Ever, he didn't have any chance to defeat him.
And then, finally, the chance came. Es'Ever made a mistake of being lax and underestimating Sho. Sho instantly took advantage of that. He didn't know if it was a trap or what. But he only knew he was outmatched and better to do it now.
He slashed at Es'Ever. Upon contact, Es'Ever's blade that was pointing at Sho's neck suddenly stopped. Sho's eyes glinted. His weapon can really paralyze. With that in mind, he continued slashing at the man and pushing him towards the weird boundary. Even when he was continuously striking at Es'Ever, the wounds he suffered were insignificant. Still that didn't matter. All Sho wanted was to continuously paralyze him and push him out of the boundary.
And when he did, the man froze. Not because of paralysis, but because of his shock.
