Chapter 36 - Ending?

*If the answer I got is me. Then, it means I have the ability to stop Ros'Lous. I'm not very confident with my interpretation, but if I really can't find another way, then, at least I have to try it. I wonder why my skill had an error. Is it because my level is too low? Or is there another factor that I'm unaware of? Was it because of my memory?*

Too many questions. But no answer was given to him. He knew if he wanted answers, he needed to move forward. And to move forward, he needed to survive.

"Sho." he looked over to Miya. Her eyes shone with determination.

*Yes. I'm Sho Chad right now. It doesn't matter if I'm really Caelus. For now, I'm Sho.*

He nodded. He knew what she wanted to do. They both got up. As soon as they did, the two who were fighting immediately became aware of their presence. There was no denying how strong Alpha and Ros'Lous were.

Protege or not, Miya and Sho wouldn't be able to do the same as they are now.

"Interesting humans." Ros'Lous chuckled.

"That's just how we are." Alpha retaliated calmly.

*This guy talks like he is not human. Clearly, he looked and dressed like any other Yamato citizen. He even has the signature squinty eyes and "yellow" skin all Yamato citizens have.*

Miya and Sho were relieved with Alpha's go signal.

The other guards were just staring at them. They don't know if they should place their hopes with Sho and Miya. They were both teenagers. Thus, they felt conflicted. But they were also too wounded to help. They could only watch and wait for the verdict.

Miya and Sho carefully positioned themselves behind Alpha. Entering his buff range effectively. They both knew they were outmatched, but because of the situation, they would rather risk everything than just wait for their death now that they were able to heal themselves. At least, the three of them have been in a team fight before. It was easier for them to coordinate knowing each other's skills.

Seeing Ros'Lous attacking, Miya automatically activated her skill, she robbed Ros'Lous his senses. His eyes looked dull. He would have a hard time finding the three. Alpha moved away and placed himself in a new position. Sho on the other hand, stood near Ros'Lous so that he could paralyze the man.

The process was so smooth, but the three suddenly felt a foreboding in their hearts. They immediately scattered away from Ros'Lous. In the next second, Ros'Lous slashed towards Sho's previous location.

The three all looked grim. They knew that even with the effect of Miya's ability, Ros'Lous was still a formidable foe.

"Haha!" The enemy laughed out loud. Sho gasped for air after he dodge three consecutive slashes from the man. "I choose you!" His crazed voice echoed the forest as Ros'Lous continued to attack Sho. Clearly, he abandoned aiming for Alpha the moment the three of them teamed up.

*Are Savior Gang Poke-man trainer? Why do they love to say that phrase?*

Sho's expression was grim amidst his joking nature. But even so, he was doing well on dodging and kiting away from Ros'Lous. He had to thank his earlier experience with Es'Ever also Miya's continually robbing Ros'Lous senses and Alpha's interference.

However, despite their superb teamwork, he knew they were still at a disadvantage.

*No good!* Sho decided it wasn't enough to keep on dodging. With his Soul Crusher, he tried to inflict some wounds on Ros'Lous. In spite of that, no matter how he tried, he never hit the man. On the other hand, he got hit. He really had to thank his two teammates for minimizing the wound. If not, a fatal wound or even death could only welcome him.

*It seems I can't hit this guy normally. His moves are too flexible and unpredictable. He's like a wild dancer without choreography. It's so damn hard to hit him! He was getting frustrated. As time passed by, fear started to creep his heart. It was so scary to face such a monster.*

"Stop disappointing me, kid. If I get bored, I'll just kill you all." Ros'Lous coldly stated.

Sho's hair stood up. He knew the man wasn't kidding at all. The scariest part is that he had the means to do what he just said.

"Stop bullying the kid." Alpha said as he tried to cut Ros'Lous with his knife.

"If what I'm doing is bullying, then what do you call what you three are doing? Don't be a hypocrite."

Sho felt a slap of reality in his face. The guy was right. He felt he was being bullied, but looking at the other side, Ros'Lous could be also described as being bullied by the three of them.

He felt his stomach knotted. With the original Sho's memory, he knew he was not fond of bullying. But he realized that his point of view is subjective and biased. He made him think that maybe, some people don't know they are bullying someone because society made them think it was not bullying. That what they were doing was okay. But it was not. On a victims POV, it was a bullying case.

Sho forced his mind to focus. He remembered Alpha's reminder of throwing away thoughts that are unrelated to the current situation. It would do him no good to be distracted in battle.

He tightened his grip on his Soul Crusher's handle. He continually tried to stab Ros'Lous but to no avail. He was far too outmatched to even scratch the guy, let alone paralyze his enemy.

He could feel the pressure growing stronger. He felt his heart in his throat. He felt threatened. He felt his death was coming soon.

Just like Es'Ever's, Ros'Lous had a strong and deathly presence.

He didn't want to give up, but he was feeling hopeless. He was constantly gathering energy, but Ros'Lous seemed to know what he was doing, he was cutting him off. The longer it took for them to fight, the more disadvantageous Sho's situation was.

*I don't want to die. It feels so unfair to be reborn here only to not get the answers I want. Luck, where are you? I need you right now!*

He was clinging to his last ray of hope. The aura of death was growing stronger.

*Should I try my Virus skill? If I survive and everyone else dies because of me, can I handle it?*

He knew the answer long before he asked it. He couldn't. He has lost his memories, he was using Sho's memories as a guideline so far. But one thing he was sure of. He didn't want anyone to die because of his selfishness. He didn't want to cause any genocide.

Both him and the original Sho share the same view. He would rather die than survive with blood in his hands.

Maybe he was a hypocrite. But he didn't want to endanger Miya and Alpha. Both had been with him through the trial of death. The two risked their life to survive with him before. He would rather give back what he received rather than backstab the two just so he could survive. Just thinking about that leaves bitter aftertaste in his tongue.

*What to do?*
