Chapter 37 - Death

~Slash. Slash. Slash.~

Ros'Lous continued to slash at Sho. He was helplessly accepting every wound inflicted. Not even Alpha and Miya can save him as time passes by.

*I'm too weak. Why did my Overview skill say I was the solution? Who am I? If I'm really Caelus, I need myself to save me and everyone! Come on!*

He was desperate. He was slowly getting deeper cuts compared to before. In just a few minutes, he knew he would die if don't do something.

An unknown voice echoed in his head. He got distracted immediately, suffering from a deadly blow.

"Sho!" He heard Alpha's and Miya's voices. But they sounded too far away. He felt his consciousness was getting pulled outside him. It felt like someone was calling him.

Alpha seeing Sho on daze immediately abandoned their previous formation. He put himself in between Ros'Lous and Sho. He quickly glanced and nodded to Miya. "Get a grip, Sho!" he hissed while trying to attack Ros'Lous. He wanted to take the agro of the guy. He didn't want Sho to die. Not just because of *him*. He also believed Sho has the potential to grow into something amazing.

"Such an amateur." Ros'Lous chuckled. He didn't take Alpha's bait. He still kept on aiming at Sho. Because of that, Alpha and Miya were at a clear disadvantage. Alpha had to cover Sho as much as he could. But he knew the man was stronger than him. Not even his experience or his knowledge could save Sho if Sho wouldn't come back to them

While those things were happening, Sho was still in daze.

*Was I hallucinating?* The voice he heard was different from the machine-like voice he usually hears. It was a man's voice.

*What?* He was confused and scared at the same time. The more he lives, the more questions seem to be popping in his head. And no answer within sight.

*Damn it! Who are you?!* But try as he might, there was no more followup voice. He was extremely frustrated.

""SHO!""

Even if he didn't want to, Sho came back to his senses. He glum when he saw how wounded Alpha is. He knew it was his fault for being distracted. He was mad. He felt everything that was happening was beyond his control. It felt like someone else was controlling him.

"Sorry." he uttered beneath his teeth.

He was fuming. *What is all this?! Why is this happening to me?! Why me?! Who am I for real?! How would I accept myself if I don't even know who I am?*

No words could describe how frustrated he was.

He breathed out. And decided to let go. He didn't want to think anymore. He was viewing everything as if he was just watching a movie. It was like how Sho was dissociating. But he knew he was still in control of himself.

He was just done with thinking.

He was just done with feeling.

He was just done questioning.

For now.

As soon as he let go of everything. He felt different. When Ros'Lous attacked him, he was able to dodge cleanly, after dodging, he sliced through the air. The next thing all of them knew was that Sho successfully wounded and paralyzed Ros'Lous.

Although Miya and Alpha were shocked. They proceeded without a pause. Miya used her ability to amplify Ros'Lous' feeling of paralysis. Buying enough time for Alpha and Sho. Sho didn't stop after the first strike. When his first slash connected to Ros'Lous arms, Sho used his and his enemies' momentum to continue striking. He was like a conductor in an orchestra, each gesture he took perfected a masterpiece. It became easier for Alpha to follow up deadly strikes to the man.

From disadvantage to advantage. In just a few minutes, the three of them attain it. Alpha effectively cut off Ros'Lous' ability to fight.

One by one, Ros'Lous' ability was taken away. First it was just his movement. The next was his muscles for gripping. After that, it was his ability to stand up.

"Let's establish a contract. Promise you would never kill again." Alpha demanded to Ros'Lous. The enemy was kneeling while Alpha was holding both arms on his back. He was ready to dislocate both arms in case of struggle.

"Hah! You should've just killed me if you want to make a contract like that! If I would sign a contract like that, I'd just be a deadman in this new world we have!" Ros'Lous sneered.

"What do you mean?" Miya couldn't help but ask. But she and Sho were still on high alert. They didn't think the battle was over.

"Naive girl. Can't blame you. This here is what you can call a Common Zone. It's one of the Safe Zones! Outside, you would see hell. You don't know anything at all. Killing would be just a normal thing from now on. You should even thank me because I let you experience it before you go out."

"Nonsense! Y-you're talking nonsense!" one of the guards from Alpha camp interjected. He didn't want to believe what the guy just said.

Sho looked around and he knew no one wanted to believe it too.

"Believe what you want. It's better to stay here as long as we can before going out there. Outside would be pure hell. That would be normal because we are in a process of merging the world. What do you think happens when two worlds merge? What about the residents on each planet? Would they settle in peace? Who really owns the planet now?"

"S-shut up! Just sign the contract!" another guard said restlessly. The rest agreed. They were just scared of the man. They knew his ability could kill them in a flick of his fingers.

"Hahaha! You're all dreaming." After he said that, he grinned. Miya, Alpha and Sho felt the foreboding danger.

They immediately backed off from Ros'Lous. As soon as they did, something gruesome happened. Ros'Lous body seemed to have detonated from within, the man's blood and flesh scattered around dying the radius of five meters or more to the color of red. There was a small explosion that if the three of them didn't move out, they would suffer grave wounds or even death.

"He really chose death."
