The man who had just entered took a steady step and looked directly into his eyes. He was dressed like an office worker without a suit. There was an undone apron blocking his shirt. It looked like he was cooking. The man's face was calm but his blue eyes held a threat. "You can check at the Registry Office about our marriage," he said.
Reef turned his gaze to Bella who stood there wide-eyed in shock. "Is that true?" he asked demanding an answer. "Bella, what the hell?"
As if waking up from her shock, Bella put the glass in her hand. The glass rattled loudly on the glass table. She ignored Reef's question. Her eyes looked angrily at the man who had just arrived.
"Carter, why did you come in here?"
His name is Carter Wilford, Reef thought in surprise. He's a Wilford, like Nathan. "What's your relationship with Nathan Wilford?" he asked the man.
"He's my uncle."
