Chereads / The Elementals: Dawn of A New Era / Chapter 35 - Saving The Demon

Chapter 35 - Saving The Demon

Sian engaged Alexander in a display of physical combat with Lucas aiding her as they attacked simultaneously. She have been watching him painstakingly as he fought with her other comrades and had come to realize that he used his brute strength to dominate and when it wasn't enough he resorted to surprise element based attacks.

Ultimately, he avoided close combat for some reason she didn't know. But if she had to guess, it must be because of the fact that the longer he continued the fight, the more one got used to his speed and his attacks and she had noticed this with his exchange with Warren.

Warren was able to keep up with him better than he did from the beginning of their fight and that was immediately he had ambushed him and dealt serious damage to him.

Her Intel was proving much more useful than she had anticipated. With her and Lucas making a two man team, they barely gave him a chance to use any any of his Elemental prowess, steadily matching up to him with every passing minute.

Sian spun around, dishing out spikes of ice from her staff as she evaded a downward slash from Alexander. He sliced through the ice easily with his sword sidestepping at the same time to avoid a forward thrust from Lucas. Sian lurched forward at him her bow swinging towards his head while her legs made for a kick at his abdomen.

Alexander pushed himself backwards in an instant dodging the two in one attack before sending out an arrow of fire towards her. But she broke through the flames, dissecting it to reach him in almost the same instant.

He stared behind through the corner of his eyes and could see Lucas approaching from behind while Sian had just cut through his attack. The two of them had ambushed him keeping him focused on the girl in front while Lucas prepared for a sneak attack. There was only one thing to do in his situation. Lie down. His body fell numb to the floor in an instant while his eyes stayed fixated at the two beings who coursed over his body.

The looks on their faces was exhilarating, that look of terror after realizing that you had made a costly mistake. As he watched their awestruck expressions, a smile appeared on his. Two stalagmites shot out of the earth with speed just below the two. He was aiming to impale them with this attack but it already seemed like they've read him.

Sian dug her staff into the earth stopping her motion and swinging herself around to face where she backed before proceeding to use the already bloomed stalagmite that was meant for her as a wall. She kicked off the earth structure and lurched forward at Alexander once again watching as his eyes widened in shock.

They'd both read through him. The only possible way he could have dodged such an assassination move was either falling flat or moving upwards at a very high speed but he had chosen the former and it was the least expected but nevertheless, they were already prepared for any option he took.

Lucas repeated Sian's move and the two of them had launched back at the tyrant not giving him any chance of recovery.

Without hesitation, Alexander enclosed himself in a bubble of air shielding himself from the damage that their weapons promised before sending them both backwards with a shockwave.

They landed more gracefully than he had expected not looking like they were planning to give up any sooner. It was obvious he was holding back, not wanting to do much harm to the girl who would complete his quest. If she was mortally wounded, then her body might not last long enough before he could drain her and he wasn't going to waste another year or decade waiting for another water elemental to show up.

He straightened himself before looking forward at his two opponents. He would take out the monkey without powers first and then catching her would be easy work. He had spent so much time playing with the two of them and soon, the others will regain their strength.

He flared his malevolent aura abstractly telling them he meant business now. Without further time wasting, he zoomed towards Lucas the impact of his force shattering the man's sword which had been raised in defense. Even with half of his blade gone, Lucas parried another sword attack before falling victim to a downward kick by Alexander. He fell backwards to the ground rolling sideways immediately. He had barely escaped a flaming sword that had plunged into the ground where he laid less than a second ago.

Alexander was out to kill him and his reasons he had made clear since he appeared. He wasn't an Elemental and this psychopath's vision and dream was to create a world where only the strong and gifted one's thrived which probably meant complete annihilation of the normal human race both children and women. The evil that reeked off of him almost scared him but he had to keep his head together if he wanted to see another day.

Bouncing upwards immediately, Lucas promptly avoided a fire based attack that came his way. He crossed his arms in front of his face blocking a kick that followed before making a summersault backwards to give himself and the demon some space.

Sian rushed in immediately Lucas made his retreat, hauling in spikes of ice towards Alexander who only chuckled and liquidized the attàck before they could even come close. He dodged her swipe, before sending her flying with a kick and a shockwave. Her presence around him only delayed him from doing what he wanted to.

Throwing Sian off balance and away from his range, he continued his assault on the monkey that had the guts to stand against him decorating his body with heavy kicks and punches until the man laid on the floor unable to stand and take any more hits.

"This is for the betterment of humanity" He said to the man before bringing his sword down on him.

He was just too powerful for only him and everytime Sian intervened, he went full psycho on her and tossed her away before she could even lift a finger. He did his best trying to block the attacks he could and dodge the ones that were beyond blocking but with attack he couldn't block came a kick or punch.

The time he wasted trying to dodge, the tyrant took to cover the distance between them and land heavy blows on him. He threw back a few punches but everything he tried failed, he was already sapped of energy and even if he was completely healed, he alone didn't even come close to the demon's strength at all. He was literally being tossed around like a rag until he couldn't stand no more.

The demon had approached him, blabbing something about the betterment of humanity before raising his sword ready to kill him at any second soon. Behind him, Lucas could see Sian approaching at her best speed but it was already obvious she wasn't going to make it. He accepted his death, happy that he died fighting for the ones he cared for. His life flashed before his eyes, his last happy moments with Hayley. He was sorry he didn't get to say goodbye but he knew she'd be happy knowing he died doing the right thing. He was clear of his old sins and held no grudges. He was going to die a happy man.

Just before he could feel the impact of the sword, the earth beneath him gave in Saving him from the monsters blade and leaving him with only a shallow cut on the abdomen. He was saved and there was only one earth elemental on their side, Nathaniel.

Alexander dodged he raging girls attack almost absent mindedly. She had not thought through this attack and had just merely rushed in to save her friend. He blocked another swipe from her staff before sending her backwards with another shockwave before she could come up with any moves and attacks.

"Look who's woke" Alexander commented while turning to face the man who had just interrupted him from killing his prey. The act was just unforgivable. He would make up for that kill by killing the man who had intervened.

"Alexander, stop this madness. It's not too late" Nathaniel tried to reason but it didn't seem to be working. The monster who was once his friend turned towards him, death in his eyes and the level of bloodlust he emitted almost sickened him.

"It is too late for you" Alexander replied about to rush at his next victim when an arrow of fire washed by in front of him burning through his clothes and reaching his skin.

"You'll not harm any other person Alexander!" Inferno shouted as he stood to his feet. His hand still lit with flames from his previous attack. He still looked battered but his energy level had increased over the hours he laid in the air bubble before it was destroyed.

"You dare to turn your back on me?" Alexander questioned now turning to the approaching Inferno.

"I am merely trying to save you before you destroy yourself" Inferno explained now standing beside Nathaniel.

"You two don't stand a chance in your current state. It's useless but I will be sure to give you both a death worthy of a warrior!" Alexander promised as the flames on his sword suddenly changed their color from the usual red to purple. He was going all out.
