Chereads / The Elementals: Dawn of A New Era / Chapter 36 - Goodbye My Friend

Chapter 36 - Goodbye My Friend

Alexander attacked the duo who easily reacted to his speed without difficulty. Inferno had parried the attack with his own flaming sword while Nathaniel aimed a spinning kick towards Alexander's head.

Alexander swooped low immediately before making an upward slash attacking the pair at the same time. Inferno deflected the attack immediately pushing his sword aside and kicking Alexander backwards.

Nathaniel landed thanking Inferno with a nod. He was completely defenseless and if Inferno hadn't deflected the attack then he would have definitely lost a leg.

Alexander slid backwards from the kick before projecting forward again. Sending waves of flames as he approached. Nathaniel raised walls in front of himself and inferno shielding them from the fire while Inferno attacked with his sword.

Nathaniel had rushed backwards, picking up Edmund's blade before making his run forward. It was already clear Inferno wasn't very proficient in hand to hand combat and leaving him alone with a beast like Alexander was intentionally reducing their chances of winning. They both attacked from the opposite sides not giving Alexander any openings or chances to react to their attacks.

They were already more aquatinted to fighting him and knew better than the younger generation about his fighting style. Since he wasn't a double sword user, attacking him simultaneously from both sides reduced his chances of reacting to the two attacks.

Alexander parried off Nathaniel's attack before raising a boulder over himself to block out Inferno's flames. He already knew Nathaniel had more physical strength that any of them so taking an attack from him was much more lethal compared to Inferno.

Inferno broke past the boulder sending an arrow of flames directly at Alexander who promptly covered himself in a ball of air. The two attacker's instantly took a quick leap backwards already deciphering what his next move would be. He would probably send out the ball of violent wind towards them and if they were caught off balance by it's shockwave then they'd be as good as dead. As expected, he did as they had thought but they had already readied their defenses.

Nathaniel pulled up an earth wall while Inferno did well wrap himself thoroughly with his flames

Alexander rushed towards Inferno almost immediately. Fire had a more weaker defense than earth and the shockwave from his attack was sure enough to weaken inferno's defense enough for him to break past.

As if already reading Alexander's mind and knowing his weaknesses. Inferno broke out of his bubble immediately after he felt the impact of the shockwave. Making a summersault backwards, he sent a blade of fire with his leg just as he kicked off the floor.

Nobody knew him better than Alexander and vice versa. His friend was a battle genius and already knew the strength and weaknesses of every elemental prowess including water even without much encounter with the element. Sure Xavier was a water elemental but he never really needed to use his powers against any of them. He was arguably the strongest amongst them but he always held back until his last battle.

Alexander mowed past the flames his determination still focused on Inferno for a reason only known to him. Nathaniel already reading Alexander's mind, raised spikes of earth from under the tyrant's steps making him hault abruptly and take to the skies to avoid impalement.

He cursed Nathaniel inside his head always intervening in his affairs perhaps he should take him out first. He had planned on taking Inferno inferno out with a simple plan, but Nathaniel had managed to ruin it all. He had started off his approach with a speed a little below his peak, deceiving the flame user into sending attacks and making moves that matched his current speed. Once he was still in flight, he had planned on bursting into full speed and taking him completely unaware but as usual Nathaniel had interfered.

Inferno took off into the air, boosting himself upwards with flames from his feet. The same with Nathaniel who projected himself upwards using the earth.

The two of them had taken him completely unaware while he was lost in thought and even though Nathaniel knew he had the least advantage in air based attacks, he still took the risk. Alexander countered Inferno's flames with his own fire before sending out a wind blade downwards the approaching Nathaniel.

Making any movement up here would definitely put him out of range to deal his own attack and definitely leave him open. But he took his chances. He made a quick twist sideways, dodging the wind blade and as he expected had lost momentum and was falling backwards. From the corner of his eyes he could see the spikes growing from below where his back was faced and Alexander had intentionally poured in more energy into this attack knowing fully well that him trying to command the attack would mean him pouring out more energy that exceeded that of the attacker which would leave him completely depleted.

He had suddenly stopped falling and was pushed sideways by a gush of wind throwing him out of the attack's range and onto a more safer but rough landing.

Harold was up now and had just saved him. He didn't know why but he always felt uneasy with the boy maybe because he always felt like there was evil in him from the time they'd fought.

He stood from the floor giving his savior a smile before rushing forward at Alexander who was now on the floor once again.

Inferno swung his his blade around to make a cut at the tyrant's abdomen shooting forward a ring of fire with the sword attack. Alexander cancelled out the attack parried another attack and landed a punch to Inferno's face.

Not wavering from the hit he had just received, Inferno pressed on before Nathaniel finally joined in again. The two of them once again matching up to Alexander.

He was slowing down a bit, his energy was dropping but slowly while they were almost at their limit. Nathaniel landed an elbow jab to Alexander's jaw while Inferno seconded the hit with a kick to the torso. The two of them were burning out their last energy in a bit to bring him down as soon as they could, but even at his current state he still outmatched the two of them but they never gave him the chance to pull out any major attack or make any major moves since the beginning of the battle. They knew him better than the younger generation did and were a lot more experienced with fighting him than the youngsters.

Not giving their opponent any chances at recovery, the two rushed forward once more catching Alexander off guard mid air. Inferno had brought down his sword towards the tyrant torso but he parried the attack stabilizing himself on air, totally taking them surprise.

He touched down on the floor and a boulder shot out of the earth knocking Nathaniel upwards. He delivered a chop to Inferno's side making the man to the opposite side involuntarily before sending him away with a kick to the jaw.

Nathaniel was still in flight when Alexander had suddenly appeared in front on him stomping down on his torso and sending him downwards into the solid earth.

He flew downwards at the defenseless Nathaniel stomping down onto his stomach once more sending the man deeper into the earth as blood escaped from both his mouth and nostrils.

Inferno reached him before he could do any more damage, chasing him away from Nathaniel's body with a conflagration. Which had just drained him of the little energy he had left. His only option now was close combat and he knew he was outmatched but he still went for it.

The flames on his sword had died out and it was now a normal blade but didn't stop him. He swung it at the tyrant who easily dodged and blocked every move he made. He received blows and kicks every now and then but still persisted. He wasn't going to stop until one of them died.

Alexander held down Inferno's hand after dodging a thrust attack from him and in one chop broke the man functional arm.

He screamed in pain just before a kick to the face kept his mouth shut for him.

Harold had intervened, stopping his father's incoming blade from finishing off the already weakened man.

"No!" He yelled not at his father but at another being who had suddenly attacked from behind aiming for a surprise attack.

Alexander smiled at the foolishness of the man behind before sending his son away with a a ball of air.

"Foolish man!" He said sending the approaching Nathaniel backwards with another ball of air.

"Did you forget that air Elementals can sense motion in the air around them?" He asked rhetorically making the earth beneath the weakened Nathaniel project him forward "Your foolishness will cost you your life" Alexander finished just before his sword drove into the man's torso. "Goodbye my friend"
