Siancould still feel her power and life slowly draining away from her even after her struggles to keep them back. He was just too powerful and slowly the light was drifting away from her eyes. She continued her struggles not wanting to give up until she was totally sure she wasn't breathing. But as long as she did, she wasn't backing down, not yet.
Edmund rushed forward doing his best to get close enough to mad tyrant and tear his grip away from her. But anytime he made considerable progress, he got blown backwards. It was as if he has shielded the entire space they occupied with an invisible barrier that was almost impossible to break through.
He was already beaten up and his energy reserve was less than empty but he kept pushing forward doing his best to break through the barrier but none of them was successful. One final shockwave did the job and finally he was on the floor, his vision slowly drifting away as he still raised his hand hoping for a miracle but none came. He gave in to his body demands and soon he was unconscious.
Alexander smiled to himself inwardly, his perfect victory and the beginning of a new era. An era of Elementals. A world where only the strong thrived and the weak knew their place. He had lived most of his life hiding and being in fear of people who he was better than. People who weren't gifted as he was. But everything was going to change, he was going to change the world and restore balance to the world.
He savoured the flow of power in him. The pure energy that flowed from her to him. This was purification. He was being purified and soon the world will be. Cleansed of the weak and the unwanted. He was going to restore a balanced scale of power to the world once more and this was his first step He was almost in his climax of power when suddenly the flow stopped, his body suddenly feeling unwell and for some reason unbalanced.
'What is going on?' He asked himself mentally trying to continue the flow but it didn't happen. Nothing was happening and he was almost so close. His body was slowly heating up and he felt like he wasn't in control anymore. He was becoming unstable by the seconds, minutes and his mind was being torn. He tried to pull back but the power was overwhelming. 'what is this?' he continued questioning himself trying his best not to accept the truth. 'It couldn't be, it will never be.' He reassured himself doing all in his power to regain control but failed. His hand had left her face and grabbed onto his head just before he fell screaming in agony at the intense pain that he couldn't condone anymore.
She could feel the power and life in her almost exhausted and the surge in his own power. He had won and they'd lost. It was clearly over for humanity and it was all because of her incompetency. She was a failure compared to the others, always being the one that was protected. She was weak and had failed. She felt ashamed cursing herself and the life she lived, and she didn't know if she should be happy or glad it was being taken. All her life she had suffered from one loss to the other, nothing good ever lasted for her. From her mother and sister to Aaron and now Nathaniel. She felt like she was cursed and maybe death might be the only thing to rid her of it.
'No!' she reassured herself. She wasn't weak, her friends didn't do it for her, they did it for humanity and she was just being selfish. She wasn't going to lose herself, not now, not ever not after all they've been true, not when the life of millions of people depended on it. She fought back the power that tapped from hers doing her best to stop it and for some reason she succeeded.
She could hear his thoughts and he heard him question his own self. It was obvious that his scheme had failed. She wasn't loosing her powers any longer and the light was slowly returning to her. 'what is going on?' she also asked herself.
Inferno rose slowly from where he had landed staring at the ongoing drama. Alexander had suddenly left the girl and held onto his head screaming as if he was in pain. He was loosing his head and it was obvious. Exploiting the man's instability, Inferno rushed forward finally making it past his barrier which seemed to have fallen and helped Sian out of the earth pulling her away just before Alexander's arm shot a ball of air towards them throwing them off their feet and into different directions.
He knew this was a possibility but he had never thought it would actually happen. Alexander had taken the powers of over a hundred elementals since they began their madness and he often wondered if there was a limit to this ability but as he watched his friend constantly drain people of both their lives and power effortlessly, he had come to believe that this power was actually limitless and had no drawbacks until now. He didn't know if it made sense, but it was the only reasonable explanation.
Since Nathaniel's Powers were already groomed to their highest, one could say it was equal to that of twenty Normal Elementals the likes that Alexander had easily drained. Coupled with Sian's immense power, he had reached his limits and had dared to break past and it had broken himself. Either that or Sian's resolve had overpowered his and she had pushed back and the effects were taking it's toll on him but even at that, he didn't give up. He was still determined to reach his goal.
Alexander threw himself on the ground tearing his hair as he rolled violently on the ground releasing attacks randomly to different directions. He was spinning out of control and his body was trying to balance everything that be had absorbed up to that moment. It trying to throw out excess power by all means but it seemed the weight was too much for him.
Inferno leapt forward pushing a struggling Sian out of the way just before a wind blade swept past them. Alexander was no longer himself. The power inside was destroying him but he wasn't looking like he wanted to go down alone.
Alexander rose slowly looking like he had regained himself but staggered and fell once more. "Die! Die! Die! For the sake of a better world" he ranted pushing himself off the ground and finally standing on his feet. His energy level was still above the charts, his head still unstable but the determined mam fought back trying to gain control at all cost.
"Alexander stop! You're killing yourself" Inferno shouted but the tyrant didn't listen. He wasn't taking anything from anybody apart from Sian's life and power. He was killing himself but he didn't care. He just wanted to complete what he started and thought was right.
Inferno leapt sideways, dodging another attack from the struggling man who fell to his knees once more his head and body seemingly getting the better of him again. He was fighting back nature, trying to keep in all the excess energy he had absorbed instead of letting his body rid itself of the excess. He was being greedy and his greed was killing him.
Constantly Alexander rose and fell, still doing all he can to contain the explosive power that threatened to kill him if not released. How greedy can his friend be and how low had he fallen to be this willing to kill an innocent girl even if it meant killing himself too. His actions were just unbelievable.
Inferno ducked and bolted out of range every few minutes carrying Sian's exhausted body behind him and he did all this. He had never imagined that he'd be one running around trying to save a girl he had also threatened to kill hours ago.
He continued his dodging spree doing his best to avoid Alexander's attacks while also keeping Sian in check. Even though he didn't want his best friend to die, he sincerely prayed in his heart that he didn't regain his sanity at least not now. Any development at all in Alexander's current condition promised death for both him and the girl and then the entire human faction.
Developments in Alexander's condition's weren't looking feasible any longer.
His body was slowly giving in to the huge stress it suffered from the tyrant's persistence. He could now see cracks on his friends skin and each crack came with an outburst of light. Something huge was coming and them being in the vicinity when it did was definitely suicidal, He lifted himself from the floor and balanced the girl on his back before rushing over to aid Caleb who was currently the best in shape at the moment aiding him with a shoulder while they hurriedly exited the arena.
Hayley had regained herself and also noticing what was about to happen, had mustered every ounce of strength in her and lifted Lucas to her uninjured arm before scurrying after inferno and Caleb.
Inferno dashed back to the place, picking up his son and Warren while doing his best to drag Harold with him but his movement was slow and every passing minute, Alexander's condition got worse.
He felt an approaching presence behind him and it was Sian running forward with every strength she had managed to acquire during her short period of rest. She took Harold up to her shoulder and aided Inferno to evacuate the remaining of their crew before turning back to the almost broken Alexander. Her eyes filled with pity and compassion for the man.
He had realized his mistake and tried to correct it but it was already too late. The immense power he had tried to restrain and sought other ways out and was now eating through his skin looking for every possible route to leave the overflowing vessel. He fell to his knees trying to reach for his fleeing friend as his skin cracked through. He was a monster now and nobody wanted to be close to him, all he wanted was a world where the gifted wasn't feared and killed because they were unique, all he wanted was a world for his kind where they can live without fear of being hunted down but it seemed be had failed.
He managed to crawl to the body of his old friend whom he had killed placing his almost destroyed hand in the cold palm of the dead man. Tears fell down his eyes as he watched from the corner of his eyes, his best friend running away from him.
"Forgive me" He pleaded finally closing his eyes to rest, somehow happy he didn't die alone. A short smile formed on his bursting face adding even more light to the already blinding one that escaped from his body just before he detonated.
