Tears dropped down from Inferno's eyes immediately he heard the explosion. He didn't want to admit it, but his friend was gone. His friends were gone. Even though he had threatened to kill him and had almost carried on with the threat, he still cherished their friendship. His dream was ideal but the means to accomplishing these dreams of his was mass homicide and it wasn't a very good method to seek justice and equality. He wasn't exactly innocent but he was grateful he had recollected his senses before it was late.
The fight with his son had revealed to him just low he had fallen and how unjust their strategy was. He was out to kill his son just to achieve a dream that was soaked in the blood of countless lives. A world that was built on the bones of innocent fallen men, women and children and he was about to add his son to that heap of bones that held up their dream. He had realized how stupid he had been and had made up his mind to stop the same dream he had killed for.
Seeing those whom he was out to kill moments ago giving it their all to protect him in his weakened state really did remind him that kindness and forgiveness still existed.
Sian couldn't help but Wonder what could have happened if Alexander had been able to control himself once more. If he had been able to control himself, there was definitely no stopping him. She hadn't fully understood what had caused his instability but whatever it was, she was grateful.
She wouldn't lie, he had some truth in the words he spoke even though most of them were just built on his own selfish desires. He was right about the Elementals being hunted down and killed like animals simply because they were different. She fully understood the fear of them one day going berserk, but not all of them were bad and the massacre of her clan was definitely something done not out of fear but of jealousy and spite. But they had already accepted that fact and moved on. Trying to wipe out the entire human faction was definitely going too far and beyond the scope she could term as revenge. It was sheer madness and a homicidal ideation.
What happened if eventually a child is born without powers, would he also kill the innocent creature who hadn't even gotten a chance to live? It was a question only Alexander could have answered but she didn't want to overthink anything. They should enjoy their victory while it lasted. It wouldn't be long before another psychopath who craved revenge will show up and start his own campaign for world dominance. Trouble never ended.
Harold was slowly waking, the fall must have knocked him back to consciousness. He looked backwards and saw the mass destruction behind him and was clearly surprised that he was still alive and more surprised that Sian was still alive. He had thought for sure that Alexander had won after knocking them all out. He paused, recollected himself and rewinded a bit.
"Father, where's is he? Where is father?" He questioned frantically staring around looking for signs of his father. Tears had began dropping from his eyes when he realized his father was gone. He was the last family he had left and even though he was a homicidal maniac, he never wanted him to die. He wanted to stay with him a little bit longer even if it was the two of them fighting. He wanted his father back.
"Where is he?" He kept on asking now wailing like a child. Sian watched as he cried and she didn't try to stop him. She never knew her father, but she knew how it felt loosing Aaron. She pitied for Harold even though he was the same man that had murdered Aaron. She had learnt to forgive and move on. She had just only realized that she wasn't so different from Alexander. Ever since the loss of her family, she had sworn revenge on the their killer which was the human faction but she wasn't as bloodthirsty as Alexander was.
The only difference between the two of them was that she met good people and Alexander met those who had the same ideology as he did. If she hadn't met Aaron, she could swear that she would have been a lot worse than the tyrant. But she had been lucky to meet him, her savior.
Warren woke up also and rushed towards Sian embracing her with his whole body while ignoring the weeping adult by her side. He didn't know what had happened and he also didn't care to know or even ask. All that mattered was that she was okay and wasn't dead. He hadn't even noticed the mass destruction behind him until he hugged her and faced the place where a large edifice once stood. It was nothing more than a gigantic pothole.
Sian didn't retaliate like she always did, she returned the hug finding comfort in his manly arms and his body warmth. She had never really figured why she always felt like how she did whenever she was around Warren, but whatever it was, she had accepted it and embraced the feeling. She was tired of fighting it, it felt like a part of her and fighting it only meant fighting herself.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you" Warren apologized not wanting to let go of her.
She smiled to herself, his words were on the contrary. He had risked everything he had including his own life just for her and humans that would probably never understand the kindness he had done. He was her hero, her knight in shining armor.
She pulled him backwards, and without another word, she locked their lips in a warm embrace.
She wasn't a good kisser but she did the best she could. However, he had taken over, deepening the kiss and taking control from her. He didn't want to overdo anything, he couldn't even if he wanted to. His entire body was in shambles and he could still feel the heat from the battle. He was just happy that he was alive and so was she and everybody else.
Lucas woke in Hayley's arms his face already glistening with a smile at the sight of her. He was already scared to death that she had to follow them to such a fierce battle but the joy of seeing the two of them still alive was more than enough to quench his worrisome character. He was already rested on her laps but he still threw his arms around her waist pulling himself closer into her warmth.
He had never expected to find love in his life but fate was always full of surprises. He didn't know what love was when he found it but now he couldn't even imagine living without it, without her.
Hayley returned the smile, her racing heart finally coming to a rest. Alexander had dealt serious damage to Lucas and she couldn't hide her worry for him but the second those eyes of his opened up, the joy in her had imploded filling her with a whole new sensation. This was the fear of loosing someone and the relief that came afterwards. She could cry but she restrained herself not to.
She thought her love life had ended after the death of fiancee but Lucas was a game changer. Everything had begun to fall in good places for her ever since she met him and it had all began with her nursing his wounds. The memories they had together flashed through her head and now she couldn't restrain her joyful tears any longer. She was just too happy that he was back to her.
Caleb crawled on his good leg towards his crying friend. The two of them had never really gotten along but just watching him cry brought back old memories. He knew the pain of loosing a father and he fully understood what Harold was going through. He reached his friend and threw an arm over his shoulder.
"It's okay" He consoled "we're always here for you" Caleb added only for Harold to increase his outpour hugging his caring friend and soaking him with his salty tears.
He had totally forgotten he had another family. A family that fought with him and never left his side. The Triumvirates were his family and he was lucky to still have them. He couldn't hide the fact that he missed his father but he was gone now but his second family wasn't. He had to accept the bitter truth of reality and move on instead of crying over spilt milk. A whole new future awaited them and he sincerely hoped that the Triumvirates will still be a part of his future.
