Jason couldn't believe what he was seeing. This screen looked like any video game status he'd seen before. He began to get excited at the possibilities this meant. He was an avid gamer and still remembered a bunch of anime and science stuff, so he was sure, given time, he could survive here. This was before Gracie dropped a bombshell into his world. "The only thing is since the races separated as I said, it's been a lot more peaceful, at least here it is, so the system isn't too prevalent in our lives," Jason thought he misheard her at first. Why, given a chance, would you not use this gift? He asked her. "Well, quests and status points are hard to get unless you become an adventurer, and you can get a couple of skills on your own, but you need to level up to get more skill points, and most monsters that appear are hard to kill" He sighed after hearing this. Oh well, he thought better to know now than have my dreams crushed. Jason was content to just have a system. Gracie and Jason continued to talk about things for the rest of the night. She continued to brief him on the basics of society in this world.

The next couple of days went pretty smoothly and fast. Gracie showed Jason around the village a bit more, introducing him to the rest of the town. However, that one fire guy wasn't around, so she skipped over him again. She also showed Jason how to use the market, an interactive screen that appeared in front of Jason showing a bunch of things he could buy. Apparently, it's an area that anyone anywhere in the universe can use. Jason got what this meant when he opened it and saw the price of the objects was astoundingly high. Jason quickly closed it and decided to explore it more later when he can get coins. She also showed him how to pick up the different quests and the other necessities over those days by using both the system and going around the village. Apparently, due to the village's size, the quests are either normal community tasks or rarely slaying a beast. By the end of his first week staying with Gracie, he was thoroughly caught up and aware of everything Gracie thought he should know. Gracie initially feared that Jason wouldn't catch on as fast due to his initial memory problem. Still, when she saw him now, she threw a couple of extra lessons into the mix. Gracie showed Jason that she could use magic. "You wanna try?" Gracie asked him after making a ball of water out of the surrounding area. "I don't have the skill, though?" Jason replied and was confused. "You know how I told you about your ability to buy skills? Well, you can also learn them if someone who knows the skill teaches it to you," She shrugged while continuing, "It's called the mentor program or something. Still, it allows a safer way to obtain skills'' Jason was beyond excited when he heard this. It meant he'd be set as long as he could get people with different skills on his side. He didn't mention his thoughts but replied, "Please teach me as many skills as possible with the mentor system, please…." Jason tried his best to be convincing before Gracie just sighed. "What do you think I'm doing, dumbo," Gracie says while landing on his shoulder.

The first piece of magic Gracie had Jason learn was Mana control. This took Jason the whole first day to obtain the skill. Mana Control allows Jason to move his mana freely inside his body and the world. After reading the skill description, Jason tried to push his mana out of his body. He wasn't sure how to do this, as Gracie had only shown him how to move it internally. However, around midnight, Jason finally formed a bright Blue ball in front of him. He wasn't sure what he did as he visualized his Mana leaving and starting a ball. This went as planned, but Jason wasn't sure if a skill was supposed to be created or why he made such a big ball of light. Then the content he tried to absorb was the mana he had in the ball back into his body. Jason knew this usually wouldn't be allowed in games because once mana was spent, it was finished. However, curiosity overtook him, and as he tried, he realized he could absorb it all quickly. This brought even more confusion to Jason but he'd decided to just ask Gracie in the morning. He was tired and wanted to go to bed. The bed he was using in Gracie's house wasn't as good as his old bed in his previous world, but it was still a fantastic place to sleep. Jason hopped into his bed, smiling before falling asleep for the night.

The next day Gracie came to wake Jason up for training. Jason explained what he did before bed last night and Gracie followed along until he said he absorbed mana back. "Well it sounded like you just created a ball of pure mana, pretty useless, but what do you mean you absorbed the mana after?" Jason tried again to explain it to Gracie but it left her stumped. "Well maybe it was a fluke" she shrugged "well since you learned mana control how about learning earth manipulation?" Jason accepted eagerly and the two went outside to begin their lesson.

Jason wasn't expecting the way magic was actually used. He was expecting it to be flashy and all. However, it worked weirdly normally. It was as if the ground became putty that was easily reshaped by the magic. The only visual effect was the rectangle coming out from the ground. "This is the most basic form of elemental magic. If you can master this it'll become easier to learn from others. Focus on moving your mana into the ground and visualizing what you would like to happen". Jason was taken aback by her easy explanation. She made it sound extremely difficult before but that explanation seemed easy. Jason focused for a while circulating his mana through his body. He wanted to try and gather more before attempting to try and make it easier. After a bit, Jason started to push out the mana he gathered into the ground through his feet. In the next moments, he began to feel the ground under him become warm and almost soft. Slowly a stone pillar started to emerge from the ground under Jason's feet. Slowly Jason rose about a foot before he broke out of the trance-like state he was in. "Skill Learned - Earth Manipulation Lv1". He chuckled to himself as Gracie headed toward him "Good job you seem to have gotten the hang of that fast'' Gracie said before adding "Maybe you were a skilled mage before your memories were wiped or something" She laugh thinking her job has been getting easier with him the longer he's here. "Well since you learned that way faster than I expected, I have the rest of the day to train your new skill but don't do anything bad," Gracie added before flying back to the house.
