Those hard-shelled creatures had a pair of antennae on the tops of their triangular-shaped heads. They had no eyes and no nose. But the antenna had fine hairs which had almost accurate vibration and smell sensors.
Their ten large and long feet had steel-hard hooves. They came up from large holes and caves in the ground. Their arrival made the sound of a large herd of bison migrating.
"Attack!" Exclaimed Jaster who was in charge of leading the group protecting ship number one.
The laser guns carried by the guards started shooting waves of Ogxig that came from all directions. Previously, they had studied Ogxig to know their weaknesses and the most effective way to kill them.
Ogxigs had small heads despite their large bodies. Like most creatures, their centre of control was in the head. They wouldn't die right away, but they would become like stupid cockroaches if their heads were crushed.
The magnitude of the Ogxig wave made the soldiers unable to hold them back too long from what they had planned. They had expected to hold them at least fifty meters further from the ships and the mining site. But the Ogxigs that lived in their natural habitat were much more agile and faster than those who had been confined in the zoo.
"Don't back down!" Jaster exclaimed to his soldier.
On the other hand, he was still shooting at the few Ogxigs who had come close to him. He shot a white light from his eyes which instantly froze Ogxig's head which he shot. He also used the power of his eyes to randomly shoot Ogxig's long legs so that his soldiers could crush their heads more easily.
Jaster clicked his tongue. Then he turned to the mine guard team who also looked quite troubled. It turned out that what Rohan said was true; this was not easy at all.
Ogxig had a very hard shell that was difficult to break if hit by a laser gun. They only had very few exposed soft parts of the body. Chasing their tiny heads took about five shots to make one that managed to hit the target.
"Close all ships' doors and windows," Jaster ordered his son who was in charge of controlling the spaceships.
But suddenly, a cracking sound rang out from under Jaster's feet. He looked down and saw the hard dry ground he was standing on forming a crack.
'Watch out for ground cracks.'
Jaster's eyes widened instantly. Then swiftly, he leapt as far as he could just before the ground exploded from below with an Ogxig shooting up.
Several soldiers who didn't have time to leap were grabbed by the Ogxig and eaten on the spot. Ogxig had a very hard top head. They could push rock-hard ground from below and break it.
The cracks widened so much that everyone had to run away from them, including Jaster. Like before, Ogxigs jumped out of the cracks.
The ground Jaster was standing on shook, but he found three Ogxigs behind him. He couldn't run away this time. He shot the three Ogxigs and only froze their body shells and some parts of their legs. Meanwhile, the ground he was standing on exploded upwards causing him to bounce.
Jaster fell on his back, and immediately saw a triangular head with sharp fangs rapidly pointing at his face.
In a very thin amount of time, he shot a freezing light from his eyes. However, he did not have time to dodge the Ogxig's giant head and body which then fell onto his body.
Ogxig's head became like a giant ice rock. It would fall into Jaster's face and crush him. But as his vision darkened, he suddenly felt something tugging at his leg.
Jaster's body was pulled up in the air with his head down. He immediately opened his eyes to find a chain wrapped around one of his legs.
No need to think anymore, Jaster instinctively recognized that it was Rohan. He looked in several directions to find the owner of this iron chain. Then he found a silver-haired man ten meters away from him. Rohan was defeating several Ogxigs in just one electric strike.
"ROHAN!" Jaster exclaimed after realizing that he was currently in the same position as a worm on a fishing hook in the sea.
"Damn kid!" He muttered as he continued to shoot the Ogxigs that trying to reach him.
Seeing Jaster hanging over a group of Ogxigs which were about to eat him, Rohan muttered, "Oh. I forgot about him."
Then he pulled the chain quickly as if Jaster was an inanimate object. As soon as the ice-eyed man arrived, he immediately let go of the chains that wrapped around his legs until he fell to the ground.
"Could you at least help in a slightly sane way?" Jaster asked as he rose to his feet.
"That was the quickest way before your head was crushed. You'd better thank me," Rohan replied while moving his hand forward and shooting a huge electric shock which then emitted ten branches to electrocute ten Ogxigs at once.
The Ogxig, whose body was mostly liquid, cooked in just one second from Rohan's high-voltage electric shock.
"You look a mess, old man." Rohan smiled crookedly.
"Where have you been?" Jaster asked.
"Watched for a moment from above. Enjoying the sufferings of yours who had taken my warning lightly."
"I can see how happy you are. You better help out on another post, Rohan. I'm sure I'll be fine here."
"As if I was willing to be ordered by you, huh?" Rohan chuckled, and got a furious snort from Jaster.
"I'll go around for a bit. The air here feels a bit strange." Rohan said.
Jaster glanced at the man before returning his eyes to the front to shoot the Ogxigs that kept coming.
"I didn't know you could feel it in those clothes? Isn't the air here indeed unusual? We seem to be in a giant stomach with its digestive juices." Jaster said.
"This is unusual because as far as I know, the air should be more acidic than this. Something seems a bit off." Rohan murmured in a voice Jaster could hear. "I'll check it out a bit."
"Be careful!" Jaster exclaimed as Rohan sped away with his mech board floating in the air.
Flying was a superpower that was very rarely found in Helomus. In written history, only two Helomus had the power to fly and that was the only superpower they had; considering that Helomus could only have one superpower.
In addition, all Helomus who could fly were those who managed to develop their superpowers to make them able to fly; an example was the Rocketman. He issued a rocket burning power on the soles of his feet and hands so as to enable him to fly.
As for Rohan, he had a device the size of a fist which was useful for converting his electrical power into combustion like a rocket. The device would be attached to an iron flying board which Rohan could create and ride at any time.
That way, Rohan became one of the Helomus who could fly with the help of a tool.
