"Really?" Sam noticed the sudden change in his facial expression, but that didn't stop her from being excited. Her mother was her utmost concern.
"Yes, Sam, really." Desmond folded his arms and stared at Sam as her face glowed. Her mother's health worried her so much, but why did she have to bring it up right now? Was she trying him?
"It doesn't have to be a reward; you can just pay me upfront for the job," Sam had a rethink. His sudden kindness was a cause for alarm.
"Samantha," Desmond called out to her. Catching her off guard, she looked at him with intent.
"Yes, Desmond."
"What's your mother's medical bill?" He asked out of the blue.
Sam's eyes darted to and fro in the restaurant. She didn't ask for the bills before she left the hospital. She lowered her head and answered. "I didn't ask for the bills."
"So, you have no idea how much it cost?" He asked again.
"No," Sam said with a deep sigh. This was another doze of trouble.
