Chapter 37 - New Job

Audrey was more jittery than ever, a part of her thought she had gotten the job, another part thought she hadn't gotten the job, she was even more anxious after five long days. Checking her email frequently had already become a bad habit in Prisca's opinion.

The five days had been hell for Audrey, they didn't send any sort of confirmation email or a rejection email or pending email. She was already thinking about looking for another job when she heard a notification pop up on her phone, the three shot their heads to where the phone was.

Audrey immediately dropped what she was doing and got to where she kept her phone, Prisca and Lizzy expectant to hear the news. Audrey sighed in disappointment after seeing it was a notification to update her apps. She grunted and almost threw the phone at the wall.

"It's an app update notification!", Audrey said not in the mood to be given false hope by the turn of events, " it's okay sweetie", Lizzy said.

The rest of the day went by with customers going and coming, Prisca and Audrey going about serving customers, Lizzy cooking, and Audrey being clumsy. It wasn't intentional, she just tried to rack her brain on the possible reasons why she didn't get the job.

'He said I should expect an email, it's been freaking five days, or I didn't get the job, i still haven't gotten the email. Or, what if he forgot to inform me, ahh this is so brain tasking, I better pay attention to the job which feeds me at the moment!', Audrey reasoned as she went about serving customers.

She decided to stop thinking about it and just move on with her life, she needed to start looking for another job and fast. Prisca flipped the sign in front of the door to indicate that they were closed for the day, the ladies packed up, cleaned the tables, hung the chairs, washed the dishes, took out the trash and finally putting off all the electrical appliances needed to be turned off.

Lizzy and Audrey waited by the door as Prisca locked the door, Lizzy having miniature conversations with the man who sold fruits beside them. Audrey stood tired, massaging her neck the little way she could when a notification popped up on her phone.

She opened her phone to check the notification, not expecting what was coming her way. Audrey rubbed her eyes to make sure she was seeing clearly, it was the acceptance email she'd been waiting for.

"Oh my God!", Audrey exclaimed startling Prisca who had just finished closing the door, " what, what happened girl!?", Prisca asked already scared something bad happened. When she saw Audrey smile, she thought Audrey got the job, Audrey soon confirmed in a more settled but slightly shocked voice, "I got the job!!".

Lizzy who had finished her conversation came to tell the girls it was time to leave when she heard Audrey say that she got the job, " what, you did!", "yes mom, she did!", " ohh my God we're so happy for you!", Lizzy said wrapping both girls in a big hug.

To celebrate the huge win for Audrey, Lizzy and Prisca prepared a huge meal for dinner, and to make up for all the disappointing notifications she went through.

Audrey felt really appreciative of all the things the family had done for her, "guys!", Audrey called getting the attention of Lizzy and prisca, " thank you so much, really, first was the job when I needed it, then your house, your attention, your help and most importantly for showing me just how much you love me!".

"It's no biggie honey, it's okay!", Lizzy said on the verge of tears, " no, no it is, I won't stop stressing until you know how important you are to me. If I didn't know better, you both would have passed as angels!". Audrey's unplanned speech moved the ladies to tears, Prisca standing up from her seat to give her a hug before whispering in her ears, "I'm responsible for your closet!".

Both ladies laughed at Prisca's not so quiet whisper, they proceeded to have lunch, giggling about how antsy Audrey had been the whole week. Audrey announced she wouldn't be around the following day, she wanted to visit her parents, immediately soiling the mood at the table.

Prisca's weird ringtone melted the gloomy atmosphere, the ladies burst out laughing thinking about how Nico called at the right time. Prisca informed him that Audrey didn't need the job any longer, the ladies thanked him though, for getting Audrey the opportunity to work at the biggest company in the continent.

The following day being a Sunday, Prisca and Audrey agreed to meet after Prisca came back from the hospital, leaving her mother with her father, and after Audrey was back from the cemetery.

By now, Audrey was already used to the dynamics of the cemetery, she took their favorite flowers to the cemetery. She told her parents about the next steps of her life. Of course she admitted that she felt sad that they were no longer with her, but she had learnt to live for herself.

The cemetery was a place she had come to find peace and tranquility in, it sounded weird but anytime she went there with mixed feelings, she had the time away from everything to just think. Sometimes she even felt the presence of her parents, which calmed her all the more, and when she thought of her parents, she thought of her name and the reason behind it.

It was the same way she felt when she went there again, taking deep breaths and finally leaving the cemetery relaxed. She took a cab and headed for the city, bracing herself for the crazy experience she was sure Prisca was going to put her through.

She got to the hospital in time to see Prisca walking out, bringing out her phone and about to call her when Audrey called out, " prisca!!", "ohh there you are… I was just about to call you, you ready?", prisca asked, excitement written all over her face, " I'm not exactly sure!", Audrey replied horrified by Prisca's smile
