Chapter 38 - Reporting For Duty

Prisca dragged Audrey through the halls of the mall, literally stopping at any store she thought would have ideal clothes for Audrey. She knew that Audrey, unlike her, had the taste for more conservative and less stylish clothes, Audrey would wear anything she felt comfortable in.

That was her guideline while getting clothes for Audrey, getting things which were not too open, bags that she consented to and heels that were not too much. Of course, Prisca switched it up a little so Audrey wouldn't look like an unmarried woman in her late forties.

The clothes were more than Audrey imagined, despite her protests, Prisca went ahead to get all the materials which were not expensive and because she would need them.

The cab they called to help with taking the things to the house arrived shortly, they stuffed all the bags inside and went home exhausted. Prisca helped Audrey with arranging all the things they bought in the closet, on the shoe rack, the bag holder and the dressing table.

When they were done Audrey had to admit that her closet looked indeed beautiful, the mix of colors contrasted each other splendidly, even if she didn't want to admit to Prisca, she definitely loved the way her closet looked.

When Prisca was already packing the empty bags, Audrey asked Prisca, "uhm, Prisca, can you help me pick out an outfit for tomorrow?"Prisca smiled and headed to her closet before saying, " I thought you'd never ask".

Prisca looked deep in thought as she brought multiple shirts by the hangar to Audrey's neck, her other hand taking the skirts out. When she settled on a floral printed white shirt suitable for an office environment, she still hadn't settled for a skirt or a trouser.

Audrey looked at her confused, letting her do whatever she wanted to do. After sometime and multiple walks around the room, she finally decided on the shirt from earlier, a high waisted office trouser, a four inch ankle strap heel and a black bag.

Audrey smiled at the fit, hugging Prisca, a way to show her gratitude. They had dinner earlier than usual because Audrey had to leave early the next day, so she had to sleep early. She returned to her room smiling at how beautiful the fit looked.

Audrey woke up the next morning, smiling, happy that she was one step closer to being the woman she wanted to become. She tied her hair in a messy bun, putting on the clothes and smiling at her reflection in the mirror.

By the time she was out, Lizzy was just making breakfast and Prisca was still dozing on the dining table. When Audrey walked out of her room, her heels clicking elegantly, both ladies marveled at how she looked beautiful in just office wear.

"So… how do I look?", Audrey asked nervously waiting for their replies, " absolutely stunning!", Prisca said not expecting that Audrey could really make the simple outfit that beautiful.  Her curves looked beautiful in the outfit she put together the night before, she smiled at how Audrey always looked beautiful in whatever she wore.

"You look great dear!" Lizzy said smiling, she continued,"settle down, breakfast is almost done!", Lizzy said as she motioned to the table. The ladies had breakfast talking about how they were going to have to shift their schedule to adjust with Audrey's time. Of course, Audrey tried to tell them not to bother, but Lizzy was having none of it.

Audrey rushed out because she didn't want to be late on her first day. She was nervous, but not as nervous as the day of the interview. Dropping from the cab and crossing the street, Audrey still couldn't help but marvel at how the headquarters looked like a piece of art.

She thought about how she was going to get to her new post when the security guard asked, " Miss Audrey smith!", he called confirming her identity on a tab which looked like it had a passport she submitted earlier. "Here you go!", he said giving her identity card before he continued, " youll need it to enter the company", "how do I use it?", Audrey asked confused.

" You'll figure it out, report to the front desk, an official will take you to the twenty fifth floor, that's the investment department!", the security guard said not even showing an ounce of reaction on his face.

The key/identity card the security guard gave her was somehow confusing for her to use, that was until she eventually figured it out. She went to the reception area, where three ladies went around receiving calls, smiling at the officials who went there to ask for their help.

Audrey gripped her key card tightly, a sign she was nervous, again Prisca's voice popped in her head, reminding her to breathe. She walked confidently to the receptionists sitting area, "good morning miss, I'm new here, I'm Audrey smith, Mr Cohen's new assistant, the security outside directed me here for help!" Audrey said with a smile.

"Ohh hi, and welcome!", one of the receptionists who answered her said politely offering her a handshake. "Follow me please!", she said walking towards the elevators. There were a total of five elevators, she said pointing towards the one further down the hall, " the other four are for staffs, and the last one is the boss's private elevators only his assistant is allowed to use it aaet from him, although he rarely uses this one, instead he takes the private one from the basemennnt park. Either way, be sure not to ever use that elevator".

"Yes, yes, of course!", Audrey said following her into an elevator labeled 'three'. " The investments department is on the twenty fifth floor, i'll be going now, have a nice day, nice meeting you!". The secretary said going out of the elevator and back to the receptionist's sitting area at the lobby.

Audrey sighed, in an attempt to calm her heart which was pumping blood more than it usually did. Audrey counted patiently as the elevator ascended each floor, the elevator dinged open when it reached the twenty fifth floor.
