Audrey reluctantly got in, seeing that there was no possible way to escape. She was thankful that he was thoughtful to think of how she was to get home in the awful weather.
She entered the car awkwardly, 'one leg after the other stupid, you'll disgrace yourself right in front of this beautiful man!', Audrey reminded herself before she finally entered the car, offering a small smile to the president.
Lucas on the other hand was amused by her reactions, she finally settled and offered him a shy smile. He didn't show his reaction though, the bored, expressionless face remained on his face even after he moved the car.
Audrey immediately buckled the seatbelt when the car moved forward. Just then, she was reminded that she hadn't eaten anything when she saw a poster of a hamburger as she looked out the window.
Lucas had a slight smirk on his face that he was spending more time with his "crush"!. Most of the ride she was sitting facing the window, clutching her bag tightly, when suddenly he heard growling.
Audrey hoped her stomach wouldn't make a fuss because it would be really embarrassing. However, just when they passed the poster, and thinking that her stomach had finally settled, the embarrassing sound was heard In the car.
Lucas couldn't help it, so he chuckled slightly, for a minute, Audrey was appalled by the deep baritone voice reverberating in the car, when he looked towards her, she quickly recollected herself and said, " I'm, I'm sorry, I skipped lunch!", Audrey said embarrassed.
"It's okay, you don't have to explain", Lucas said, " what do you wanna have?", he asked looking at her, "no, no, its fine sir, I'll just get late dinner when I get home", Audrey said in an attempt to refuse the offer.
" I'm not having any of that?", Lucas said, about to turn in the restaurant just up ahead. "Really sir, it's no hassle!", " no it isn't, plus we have something very important to talk about!", Lucas said finally deciding to tell her about his proposition.
Audrey who thought she had done something wrong became really nervous, 'did I do anything wrong, I've only been here a week, what do I do!'.
"I I didn't do anything, right, I've only been here for like one week, wait, sir is it about the meeting room, hell, I knew i shouldn't have maintained eye contact, I'm really sorry sir, don't worry I'll be a filial employee, just please don't fire me!!!!", Audrey blabbered moving uneasily on byr seat.
For the first time that night, Audrey finally saw Lucas smile so openly, he was smiling because he thought Audrey looked cute as she kept yapping.
" don't worry you didn't do anything wrong and it's about the eye contact, which reminds me, you have beautiful eyes, also its a good thing!... Now get down, lets have late dinner!".
An evident blush crept to Audrey's cheeks, even if he had complimented her, he had also been able to calm the storm within her. While she was still dumbstruck, Lucas had gone around the car to open the door for Audrey.
When he opened the door, Audrey shook her head, an attempt to get the embarrassing blush away from her face. Lucas smiled at her antics before he shut the door behind her.
They entered the restaurant and took their seats, Lucas making sure she had enough for dinner before he even started talking about the contract. Lucas watched as Audrey ate without a care in the world, she ate not even acknowledging she was making a mess out of herself.
Now he knew why the cringe moments where the guy helps the girl clean her mouth was a real scene. He suddenly felt the urge to help her clean the sauce, not with the tissue though, but with his tongue, to taste any other thing other than what she had for dinner.
He cleared his throat to get her attention and to stop himself from thinking about lewd thoughts, 'this is going to be very long!", Lucas thought.
"So, the conversation we are about to have is very simple, i need your help and you need mine, well at least you'll come to see that you need my help!", Lucas said sitting up, the plates cleared, with just two glasses of wine in front of them.
Audrey mainly nodded her head, a gesture which indicated to go on, " so, my mother, she's really persistent about my love life!", Audrey made a scowl, "Yeah, tragic, so I came up with a solution and finally told her that I have a girlfriend. And that's where you come in!".
Audrey took some time to comprehend the situation before she asked, " so basically, I'm the girlfriend?", "yes you are the girlfriend, but it's fake and I only need you to pretend to be for six months!", he continued.
" ohh!", Audrey sighed "it's fake, it's just pretense!", " again, yes it is, I like that you grasp the situation. Like I said earlier, it's a mutual benefit, so you're going to be paid for your services!".
Audrey smiled thinking of how she was going to be paid to pretend to be dating someone, the side hustle was lucrative, and she had bills to cover, she couldnt say no. "Okay, so what type of cringe stuff are we supposed to be doing?", Audrey asked.
"Well, it's nice that you agreed but it's late now, so we'll talk at the office tomorrow to finalise the contract, and talk more about the details!", Lucas said taking the last gulp from his glass of wine, " aren't you taking your drink?", Lucas asked wondering why she didn't touch her glass, it wasnt like he was going to poison her.
"Ohh, I'm sorry you have to waste the money, it's just that I don't drink alcohol!", Lucas mouthed an ohh. The waiter came around to take their glasses and Audrey slipped her card on the table.
" It's on the house ma'am!", the waiter said, she looked at Lucas confused before he replied, "the restaurant is mine!", he smiled watching the expression on her face before she slipped her card back into her purse. "Let's go!', he said before they exited the restaurant.
