Somehow, Lucas was able to get through Dinner with his mother, grandmother and sister asking him what his girlfriend was like.
He got back to his room and wondered how to tell her about the meeting, through his phone or in person. He shook his head as he pulled his shirt, 'damn, I'm gone!', Lucas muttered before going to freshen up.
The debate in his head couldn't even prompt him to sleep so he did some work before he finally got tired and went to sleep. He came to a decision however, he was going to tell her in person.
The rest of the week went by with Audrey being driven home by Lucas, having real conversations in the car, nothing too intrusive, just about their daily lives and getting to know her better.
Lucas was drowning in every single thing about her, her massive forehead, her smile, the crinkle of her eyes as she smiled, literally just everything that emphasized her uniqueness in the sea of women.
Not to talk of the many times Audrey caught Lucas staring at her, he would even continue to stare at her without looking away. His small action made Audrey's blood boil, but in a good way. He always managed to get her on her toes.
Their relationship had even developed, it was unexplanable, the fact that they barely even knew each other for two weeks and they already warmed up to each other.
It was now a Friday, and Lucas was bugged by the fact that he had to ask Audrey if she could come over to his house to have lunch and dinner with his family.
They had already progressed from their one sentence phone calls, a development on Lucas's path as he had an ulterior intention…(wink!!)
"Hello, you there!", Audrey spoke into her cell phone as she was stepping out of the main entrance in front of the building, " yeah, I've seen you, I'm driving up now!", Lucas answered before he cut the call.
Of course Lucas was rich, and Audrey could guess he loved his cars because there was a new car everyday. She wasn't shocked to see Lucas in a different car that day, Audrey didn't know much about cars, but all she could say was it looked like a Benz SUV.
He drove slowly to her, 'hell she was fine, how lovely if they were actually dating in real life !', Lucas thought as he saw her beautifully dressed in a body con long sleeved dress just above her knees and tennis shoes.
'She always managed to look stunning!', Lucas thought before he finally stopped right in front of her. "Heyy, good evening!", Audrey said as she buckled her seat belt. Unknown to them a paparazzi took several pictures which looked intimate to frame up a story.
"Care for dinner?", Lucas asked as he drove into the traffic, " yeah, yeah, I'm famished!", Audrey said. "Stressful day?", Lucas asked as he saw she looked stressed.
" Yes, a very stressful day, you!?", "the usual, I'm used to it already!", " so there's something important we have to talk about!", Lucas continued, "really?, what's that about?", " my mom and my sister saw the news…", "so, let me guess, they want to meet me?", " you are very natural at this stuff!", Lucas exclaimed.
"No, no, really I'm not, I just guessed!", " well anyways you're right!, they would love if you could come tomorrow for lunch and stay till dinner!", "wow, that's long!", " you up for it?", "yeah, I am!".
The discussion went smoother than Lucas thought, he really appreciated Audrey even if she didn't know it.
They had dinner according to Audrey's pick, Chinese food!!. They settled in a reserved room because Lucas preferred their privacy. He was angered by the stares some men gave Audrey, she was beautiful and that might be a problem as other men would appreciate her beauty, something he didn't want.
Lucas smiled thinking of how possessive he had become of someone he barely knew. They settled to have hot pot after looking through the menu, the food finally came and Audrey dived in like it wasn't extra spicy.
Lucas almost choked after having one spoon from the delicious, yet spicy delicacy that laid in their middle. He suddenly felt heat so he had to remove his blazer and his waist coat.
Audrey paused to follow his action, she watched him remove a part of his clothing like a child looking at candy they yearned for. His muscular biceps stood out of the white shirt, when he removed the first two buttons, Audrey felt suddenly hot and looked away.
Lucas made sure to put up a show for her, he pretended not to notice her stare but he relished the stare she raked his upper body with. They had dinner after Lucas adapted to the pepperish dish.
It wasn't that late so Lucas decided to make small talk, " do you wanna go right now?", "no, not really, I still feel full!", " okay then…", "yeah, I've wanted to ask this since you mentioned it earlier", " what's that?", "how's your mom like?".
Lucas smiled before saying, " she's just awesome, she has her flaws, a lot of flaws, but I love her regardless. She still even dresses like she's in her late twenties. I just feel glad that she's with me though, I love her so much. She wants the best for me and my siblings and I appreciate that. How about you, what's your mom like?, Lucas asked.
Audrey bent her head and raised it back up, holding back the tears that threatened to fall. She thought she had come to terms with talking about her, but it appeared she didn't.
"Uhh, she died of cancer, stage four, we found out when it was too late!", Audrey said before breaking down. Lucas felt really sorry for her, he had no idea on how to console women, so he just did what he felt was right.
He pulled her in a hug, Audrey needed the hug, she felt comforted by his gesture. Although he offered the hug for comfort, Lucas couldn't help but relish the warmth that emanated from the hug.
She fit snugly in his arms and he didn't have to do much, Audrey pulled from the hug and Lucas passed her serviettes to clean her tear streaken cheeks.
Audrey asked to go home and Lucas did just that. The ride was silent as Audrey was still in her thoughts and Lucas wanted to give her the time she needed.
Audrey alighted from the car when she suddenly remembered the discussion they had in the restaurant earlier. " Tomorrow is still on right?", Audrey asked through the window, "yeah, most definitely!, I'll pick you up by two o clock!", " okay then, goodnight!", "I'll call you!", " oh okay, bye!", Audrey said before Lucas drove off.
