Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Handsome Beast

"Oh no, I am late!"

The woman exclaimed to herself as her gaze fell on her watch that was indicating the time. The time was 8:00 AM and she was supposed to be at her office in five minutes. There was a traffic jam right now in X City. The sound of the horn blaring outside made it obvious that the traffic would be horrendous, but even so.

"Mira, you are doomed today," she cursed herself under her breath as she placed her hand on the steering wheel and pressed the horn button a little too aggressively.

"That devil is going to eat me alive today," she murmured as the traffic started moving after a moment of silence. She breathed a sigh of relief when the light turned green and she could start driving.

She drove as fast as she could without losing precious seconds. She needed to get there on time. Her life depended on it. After some time the black Ferrari 612 Scaglietti 3 stopped in front of a tall skyscraper with an ornate bronze plaque stating "ReiMar Enterprises" over the entrance.

Mira clambered out of the car, smoothed down her lilac blazer, and took her purse off the passenger seat. She started to walk with bigger steps. The clicking sound of her stiletto's white heels against the polished floor grew louder as she fastened her speed.

She was wearing a lilac blazer inside with a white silky top matched with lilac skirt. Her long brown hair was falling loosely on her shoulder, which added to the elegance of her look.

She hurriedly placed her ID card on the metal scanner when she saw her devil boss entering the elevator with his secretary. The small double door parted for her to cross.

"Wait!!" Mira exclaimed as she picked her ID card from the metal scanner.

Upon seeing the door of the elevator closing she ran as fast as she could, but that devil didn't bother to stop the elevator instead he closed the door on her face when she reached.

"Zion you did this on purpose!" she yelled as she pounded the button repeatedly. But it was all in vain.

"I need to arrive at the conference room earlier than him. Or else he gave his nonsense lecture again," Mira ran her hand through her hair as she looked around, trying to find an alternative way of reaching the conference room earlier than him. The only option she found was the stairs. She started to strolled towards the staircase.

"It's time to do some morning exercise," she mumbled to herself as she started climbing the staircase. Her heels hit step by step rhythmically while her heartbeat echoed in her ears loudly.

With one hand on the wall and the other holding onto the banister, she climbed like a mad woman. But the conference room was at level 5 and right now she was at level 2. She gasped for air once reached level 4.

She placed a hand on her knees to try and catch her breath. When her heart rate returned to normal. Her feet were still sore and aching because of her heels. Removing the heels from her feet, she continued her way toward level 5.

Upon reaching level 5 she strode towards the conference room with her bare feet and her heels in her hands.

She pushed the handle of the door open. As expected, the devil was already sitting on his chair. He was wearing a gray suit with his black tie and his hair was neatly styled and some of his hair fell on his forehead. His lips were pursed into a thin line. His brown eyes were staring intently at his laptop screen. A black stoned ring on his index finger followed by others were tapping the keyboard rhythmically. He was the epitome of beauty and grace.

What can we do with looks? When he was a devil from the inside.

"Miss Mira, you are late," the devil said as he raised his head to meet Mira's gaze.

"Sorry President Marston, some unfortunate events happened on my way to work," Mira answered with a soft voice, her eyes never leaving him.

"Such things happen every day," he said dismissively. His expression remained stern and cold and his dark eyes were boring holes in hers, making her want to squirm under his penetrating gaze.

"Yes sir," Mira replied in a soft voice.

There was silence between them until the devil sighed deeply and leaned back in his chair. His arms were crossed over his chest. His long fingers tapped slowly on his armrest.

Mira was tired of him bossing her around like that. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.

What kind of man treats a woman like this?? He purposely closed the door of the elevator and made her climb the stairs to reach here. And now he was scolding her.

It was unfair and unacceptable!

Mira placed her heels on the floor with a loud clack. Wearing her heels again she moved towards her seat where her colleague was sitting.

"Start the meeting," Zion said as he sat up straight in his chair.

"Miss Dhalia, where is your proposal?" Zion asked as he looked at the woman whom he was addressing. A woman dressed in a black blazer with a white top inside and black pants signaled Mira to start her presentation.

"Right away," Mira responded in a low voice.

She then went forward to stand in front of the big screen. She placed the USB flash drive beside the projector. She opened the PowerPoint app and pressed the mouse button. The PowerPoint appeared in the center of the table. Mira stood beside the projector and faced the group.

"As you all are well aware that in the past 20 years, the investment capitalization ratio has gone up significantly. Since our last 4 year's investment the ratio has increased to 78%," Mira explained as the slides displayed their current situation, including the growth rates and net profit margins.
