Chapter 46 - Brewing Emotions

Audrey went back to her job, smiling goofily after she remembered the last statement Lucas said before she left the room. He was going to drop her off later, like what happened the previous week.

It was surreal, she couldn't believe she was in a contract relationship with the hot president, Audrey pinched herself out of disbelief, to remind herself that it was not a lie.

'At least after this, I get to pay the bills all at once, and then I can finally show Prisca and Her mom how grateful I am that they rendered their help when i needed it the most!', Audrey sighed thinking of how interesting the next few months were going to be.

Indeed, Paparazzi had got a glimpse of Lucas with a mystery woman, an unusual scene, as over the years, as Walton Globals bloomed he was never caught in a scandal.

It was all over the news and not so surprisingly Nalia and Amber had caught wind of it. Amber was in her room that Sunday, scrolling through her socials, as unfortunately she hadn't gotten someone trustworthy to manage the stores' publicity.

A surprising news grasped her attention, she couldn't believe it, she had thought her brother made it up, but she was dumbfounded at her latest discovery.

She couldn't see such news and not share, so, in disbelief Amber rushed down the stairs and to the living room where her mother was watching her favourite rom-com.

"Mom!!!!!", Amber yelled running down the stairs, instantly grasping Nalia's attention, " Ohhh my God, this child, be careful, do you want to break your head!!?", Nalia yelled back exasperated because she had warned her daughter several times to start behaving like an elegant young lady.

"I know, I know, but mom, you just have to see this!!", Amber said panting as she had just run haphazardly down the stairs. " what, see what, you're pestering me, I really want to watch this movie!!", Nalia replied trying to get her daughter to leave her alone.

"Lucas wasn't lying!", Amber said grasping her mother's attention, somehow, Nalia had a hunch that she knew what Amber was talking about.

" lying… lying about what?", "look, look, it's right here, he was seen with a lady!", Amber said showing her mother the picture that was going viral. " He does have a girlfriend, oh my God, oh my God, I haven't met her yet!".

"Met her, what do you mean about meeting her?", Amber asked confused by what her mom was talking about. " we have to invite her to dinner!", "that seems like a good idea!", Amber admitted.

"So, when, when do we ask Lucas to come home with the girlfriend?", Amber asked thinking of different themes for the dinner. One thing both ladies could agree on was the lady must have been special, because Lucas chose diamonds out of all!.

The ladies had a nice long conversation, plotting against Lucas to get him to bring his girlfriend for a short visit, they came to a unanimous decision, lunch during the weekend.

The day went by really fast, Audrey immersing herself in the workload she had to complete. Night fall soon came with Audrey wondering if he was going to call or not, she kept checking her phone to confirm if there was a text message , a missed call or any message of some sort.

Audrey packed up and sat on her swivel chair in her cubicle, watching other people preparing to leave the office. She was on her phone, going through her social media when she was interrupted by a highly anticipated phone call.

" Hello!", Audrey said picking up the unknown number, she didn't have to guess who the unknown number belonged to. "I'm at the basement park!", he said cutting off the call immediately after.

'Sheesh, handsome and haughty!!', Audrey said as she grabbed her things and went down the building. She went out the reception and took a right turn to the basement park.

Unlike what she thought would happen, the basement park had lesser cars parked as most people had already gone home. All she knew was that his car was black but she just didn't know which one belonged to him exactly.

An engine suddenly roared to life in front of her, the headlights blinding her vision for a moment before she used her hand to block the blinding light. She saw Lucas through her parted fingers, she didn't need an invitation to hop in, she was exhausted.

Lucas saw a familiar figure enter the basement park, he finished checking an urgent email on his phone before he pressed the 'engine on' button.

He was mesmerized to say the least just looking at Audrey approach his car, he never knew someone could look that beautiful when tired. Her messy bun seemed to be even messier, her skirt still snug against her petite thighs, the first and second button of her shirt open, parting to reveal her collar bones.

She opened the door and sat down on the front passenger seat before saying, " good evening sir!", "Lucas… call me Lucas!", Lucas corrected. " No problem sir…", she said, Lycas giving her a side glance, "Lucas!", she corrected, earning a smile from Lucas.

There was just something that gave him butterflies hearing his name roll on her tongue. " Do we have to be caught on camera today?", Audrey asked, "actually we don't, but there are still employees who would be surprised to see me with a female!", Lucas said driving out of the basement park.

" How about doing this right, so it feels real and it's not only about acting for the camera?", Lucas asked suddenly on the way to  Audrey's house. "Like we get to do things which are fun and not just stoic?", Audrey asked just to be sure. "Yes, my point exactly!", Lucas said.

" it sounds fun to me, so I'm in!", "Alright then!, so how about starting with proper dates first, what do you say, a gym date on Sunday?". Audrey's eyes turned wide as saucers, she never really liked her refreshing sleep being disturbed by anybody, but she decided to sacrifice her sleep as it meant that she worked efficiently for the amount of money she was to receive.
