Mr. Cohen walked ahead of her to an empty swivel chair beside the huge conference table. "There, you can sit down there", Mr Cohen said pointing towards some rows of chairs further around the conference table.
Audrey went there and sat on a chair in the front row, where she thought would be convenient for her to hear everything they discussed. She sat properly and took in the detail on the conference room, as it looked like they were still waiting for some officials.
The conference room had a large screen opposite a projector, Audrey didn't need to be told twice the function of both. There were blinds to cover the floor to ceiling windows in case the need arises, which would be in less than thirty minutes.
Audrey noticed the swivel chairs had distinctive designs, all chairs she had seen so far looked like that. A swirl design with the tyres at the bottom, surprisingly comfortable, when it looked confusing at first.
When everybody settled, Audrey took in deep breaths already feeling the pressure, because the directors were so much.
However, when everybody settled down, there was still an empty seat on the far side of the conference table. 'Why don't they start?', Audrey asked herself in her head wondering what was taking so long.
Just then, the doors opened again, a man walking in, another man following behind him, holding files and closing the door behind him. Suddenly, everybody chanted, "welcome President!".
Audrey stared at who the staff identified at the President, he looked no less than a god, his icy aura looked so good on him, walking in like he owned the place, which he did. He had a three piece suit on in the color black, his jet black hair swung back to reveal the neat curtain fade beside it. His shoulders broad, each strut echoing in the conference room which was now quiet.
He didn't have a smile on his face, not a frown, not any expression, but his expressionless face couldn't hide just how handsome his features were. His jawline carved perfectly, eyebrows shaped distinctly, high cheekbones and plump red lips. However, what seemed to be one of the most perfect pairing was his long lashes and blue eyes.
She sat transfixed as he passed by her, his cologne wafting in the air, Audrey finding the scent musky and tranquil. She sniffed the air and thought of the freshly mowed grass from beside her parent's grave, the evening breeze, and the peace and satisfaction it brought to her
Audrey recollected herself when she heard a cold, deep voice, "Begin!". Just like that the meeting started, Audrey couldn't fully take her mind off the view she had seen earlier. Who would?, a beautiful man just passed by her looking like he was born of a god.
She shook her head, gripping the pen harder, reminding herself her sole reason for being in the meeting room that day, " strictly for business!", Audrey chanted in her mind before pinching her thigh, 'but damn… he looks so fine!!!'.
The meeting started, the officials representing the department talking about their monthly growth, the little problems they encountered in the last few weeks, as the president despised being lied to. Lucas's smirk appeared on his face at short intervals during the meeting, unnoticed by the employees
The presentation was on the projector, which meant that the lights were turned off, and the blinds pulled. Audrey who was trying so hard to take notes in the not so lit room, found it hard to take the minutes. She raised her head to look around the room when her eyes met the blue pair of the President looking at her.
Lucas looked around the meeting room to see if everybody was paying attention, the employees didn't need to be told again to focus on the presentations. They didn't want to have a bad experience like three months ago when they were all asked questions by the president for not paying attention to others' presentations. The president had an example out of a director who was solely focused on his project, nobody wanted to be put on the spot like that, the president could be devilish at times
Of the number of people in the conference room, there was one on his far left who wasn't paying attention to the meeting, it seemed like she was taking the minutes, the colour of her hair looked familiar
It didn't take Lucas more than a few minutes to put everything together, a new familiar face, the new investments director's assistant, Audrey!!, she came to the meeting.
He watched her every movement in the dimly lit room, for a moment he didn't pay attention to the presentation, all he did was take in every movement made by Audrey, she was even more beautiful up close.
When she turned he still kept staring at her, they maintained eye contact for a few minutes, Audrey who couldn't resist such handsomeness had a tinge of red on her cheeks. She looked away when she knew she was blushing, 'he must have seen that!'.
Lucas did in fact see that, the little reaction he brought out of her caused a big smile on his face. He looked away not wanting her to feel pressure, however his mind wasn't fully on the meeting, he kept stealing glances at Audrey.
Lucas shook his head at how henpecked he was for someone who hadn't even officially met him, he kept staring at her, completely forgetting that he was in a serious meeting.
Somehow, Audrey was able to take the notes she wanted to take. Looking back at the president to see his side profile, she stopped looking at him, completely focusing on the meeting. When she finally decided to take one more look, she caught him staring at her, alarmed, her eyes almost bulging out, however he smiled at her, a complete opposite of his facial expression when he entered.
Audrey looked away instantly, Lucas smiled again thinking of how cute she was. He knew he didn't fully concentrate on the meeting, so when it came to an end, he said in his deep voice, "presentation files on my desk in ten minutes!", before walking out.
He thought about all the work he was going to do because he didn't concentrate on the meeting, 'it was worth it, I got to make her blush, twice!, I'll just pass the job to Martin!'.
