As Prisca practically dragged Audrey away from the scene she wasn't quick to notice Audrey had started crying, Prisca dragged her to the ladies' restroom, the one in the locker room where they could have the privacy Audrey needed to vent.
Audrey was rather overwhelmed the whole night, it was like the past that she had tried so hard to bury was catching up to her, first was Hyacinth, a living reminder that she couldn't finish college, and her parents were late, leaving her to face the world alone.
The actress was particularly blunt with her words, and Audrey, even after trying to shake it off finally realized that she did live a wretched life. Her tears became more apparent to Prisca as she locked the door behind her.
Prisca didn't know what to say, so she wrapped her in a bear hug, trying her best to comfort her, Prisca couldn't even start thinking of how blunt the actress was, she belittled her like she was some sort of slave, like a property, 'she sure is a handful', Prisca reasoned.
After some time, Prisca finally got Audrey to calm down, she was so overwhelmed the whole night and the insult must have been the trigger to releasing everything she felt. She had a long conversation with Prisca, not because she chose to, but because she needed to, Audrey wasn't someone to confide in people, she'd rather cry to her mother, however, her mother was late now, so she needed to start venting to someone else.
After some time, the duo finally came out, and Prisca offered to go back to her job because she didn't want Audrey feeling self-conscious dealing with curious gazes as she went around serving drinks.
Among those who watched the drama unfold was Lucas, he was tired even before coming to the event, and the boredom he felt just witnessing the show made him more willing to leave the event. However, he couldn't leave just yet as she still needed to have what looked like an accidental meeting with city Y's mayor.
He watched as a waiter passed by him to some men a few tables in front of him to serve them drinks from her tray, and when she smiled at what they said, he found himself to be satisfied with the simple gesture. To him, it seemed like rays of sunshine after a heavy downpour.
A lady stood up, wearing heavy makeup and wearing fur jackets even if they were in a warm building, walking in the same direction, where she knew the waitress was going to pass. To others, it might have looked like it was the waitress's fault, but it was indeed the lady's fault, who should have been smart enough to know the waiter was going to turn any second.
She was lucky though, she could have removed the fur jacket which protected her dress from the impact of the spill of the drinks and walk away without causing a scene, but instead, she decided to cause a scene just to let everyone know she was in an accident.
The accident was enough for the waiters and waitresses to be more vigilant around the guests, after several performances, the governor finally came back to the stage to bid everyone a good night. Hyacinth searched around the hall, and however much she tried, she couldn't find Audrey, or was a shame because she really wanted to give her a business card, so they can start talking like they did back in the day.
Unfortunately for Hyacinth, she was unable to find Audrey and so she left the banquet hall with her father. Lucas had the accidental meeting with the mayor which he originally went there for, he was able to secure the property sale, and accelerate the plans for their next project.
When the governor gave his closing speech, 'Finally!', Lucas said under his breath, that he didn't like attending these types of parties. He looked around once more, to see if he could catch a glimpse of the girl, when he stopped, confused as to why he had been searching for the waitress from earlier. He sighed and entered his car, he drove straight home.
Audrey wasn't in her right state of mind after the evening, she really needed space from everything after she figured that she hadn't fully organized her life. Madam Raquel and some of the government officials in charge of the smooth running of the event saw the whole thing unfold and felt rather bad for Audrey.
Contrary to Audrey's thoughts, Madam Raquel asked her to take a moment for herself, to recollect her thoughts, she would come back later to help clean the hall. When the banquet finally came to n end, Audrey came back into the hall to help the others clean up.
They cleaned and got back to the room where they had all converged before the whole thing, Madam Raquel finally came inside with her assistant from earlier, handing out brown envelopes to every one of them.
The group dispersed after agreeing to walk in groups, so it was no surprise to see Prisca, Audrey, and some of the other staff walking.
It was a Saturday, and Usrey didn't have work the next day, so Audrey had the time to reflect on her life, and that was exactly what she did, crying for the most part, and finally coming up with a plan, a plan she so much needed. Just then, there was a message from an unknown number, the contents identified the number to be from the hospital, it contained the debt under her late mother's name, and it was far more than Audrey had expected
